《Saga of Osin》Chapter 5

This street is empty. We move out to the adjacent street. My companions draw a sharp breath. It is pure chaos. Flames dye the sky with a crimson hue and a heat-wave rushes at us. Zombies, ghouls, vampires, rotting hounds, Hundred-Face Giants, and on and on it went.
"Do you guys have a map of the city?" I ask them. Ake shakes his head.
"This is my first week in the city, I need a general lay-" I can't finish. There is a zombie rushing at us. I want to shrink back and let Ake deal with it. It is the logical choice considering I'm injured. Instead, I move forward.
There are two reasons for my decision. I'm not that injured if I'm being honest with myself, if I was I wouldn't be so energetic. Secondly, I have to get comfortable with this.
I shove my sword forward and it lodges into the zombie's flesh. It is unaffected. I jump back a few steps. Ake moves forward.
"No!" I shout at him. "How do I deal with it?" He is surprised by my words. I don't doubt it, I did lead him down into a dumb situation with the priest.
"Crush its head." He steps back, leaving the enemy to me. I use the flat part of my short-sword and crush its head into a pulp. It isn't moving anymore. Instead just twitching.
There is a brief sense of victory flowing through me. I look up and just a giant horde of zombies is rushing down the street. Time to be a coward again.
We turn tail and start running in the opposite direction. Kogo leads us down an alley-way. I don't think we should trust her too much, she did abandon everyone back there but what choice do we have?

She leads us through a maze of winding alleyways and streets. Every-time we chance open a zombie we turn and avoid it. All of a sudden we are out on a massive open street.
Giant stone walls tower above me. These are the city walls delineating the boundary between the city and the outside.
I think we're on the other end of the city from where it was breached. We start running down by its side. All of a sudden I trip over and fall down. A sharp rock stabs into my abdomen. The air rushes out of my lungs and I gasp.
Ake grabs me by the arm and hauls me up. We run and run and then we see a giant hole in the wall. "The gate was here!"
I don't care, all I see is a way out. We climb over the sizzling hot rocks and move out. I think a meteor was used to flatten this part of the wall. It seems like we aren't the only ones with this idea, there is crowd of people along with us.
We run and run and run. People are moving around from us but most of us are like a congealed mass. Our run turns into a sprint and then a slow walk but we kept on walking until nightfall. It is more dangerous to continue but we force ourselves to move forward until we reach a river.
Instead of moving forward we collapsed by it. My white shirt was in tatters now and my pants weren't in a much better condition. At least, they're covering me for now.
We crawled over to the river and drank a large amount of water from it. Hundreds of other people were doing the same. I have no doubt that there are a large amount of people coming in from behind us.

My eye-lids are heavy and my body is aching and hurting all over. I force them to stay open and think Status.
The screen pulls up in front of me.
[Name: —— ] It was blank.
[Class: ——- ]
[Titles: 2 ] 2? How did I get two? I tap at it to open.
[Vein's Wrath]
[First Alien] That's an odd one. I think it might have to do with my reincarnation here.
I break it down further and there is an explanation. [You are the first Earthling to step foot in this world. As such, you have been granted with an extra skill.]
The idea breeds excitement throughout my weak body. I go back to my Status screen. Thre is a skill tab there and I open it.
[Skills: 2]
[Create Will]
[Exp: 0]
[You have the ability to create a will. A pseudo-magical creature that you can imbue with your desires.]
I also realize one other thing. There are no stats here. Most games have stats, they are brilliant quantifiers of a game player's strength. However, I don't see any such thing here.
I don't know how to activate this skill. I close my eyes and focus on the words Create Will. However, there is no effect. I don't know why.
My other skill is, [Contract]. I try to break it down further but its all blacked out. A red banner pops out: [Locked]. I don't think this one will activate either. Do I need mana or something along those lines? I should ask Ake about that but I have no strength left in my body.
I look over at him and he is sound asleep. Other people are here as well and I think they might have ill intentions but I can't think anymore. I just drift into sleep.

[Welcome to Server e-0001]
There is a new human standing in the exact same spot. She receives the same notification and is dressed in the same clothes as Osin.
She rubs her eyes and moves around for awhile. She'd been lying in bed when a white cloud had lodged itself into her eye and now here she was after some cryptic messages.
She moved towards the church first thing. The flames towering above the city terrified her. She walked in and was greeted by a ripped apart trap door. She looked down and the flickering lantern revealed the scene of carnage beneath her.
"Help...help..." A weak whisper reached her ears and thus, her destiny was afoot.

Peerless Hegemon
Warning: Can be quite tearjerking and depressing (or so others say). If you are weak to that and hates that kind of thing, then this story is not for you === Ye Feng lived two lives in one lifetime. First, he basked in the light of Righteousness, becoming an idol of peace and justice. Second, he trod the mired path of the Darkest Path, becoming an object of fear and death. One lifetime, Two Identities, countless experiences, still without purpose. A meaningless existence. An empty husk. In his selfishness of wanting to fill the void in him, he became the catalyst that destroyed Reality. He now controlled everything, ultimate power, uncontestable by none. But he cast it away, to be reborn anew. With a new name and a family, his goal was to understand, his place. To understand how to no longer feel empty. With his family consisting of a Reincarnated Twin Sister and Parents with inscrutable pasts, his desire was not that of grandeur. In this lifetime, he wishes not to hold power, not to gain eternal life, nor control of everything, he only wishes to live, and hopefully look at sunrise with a smile on his face. === Disclaimer: The story focuses on the Main Character’s emotional and personality growth. He is someone who is, obviously OP in some perspectives but almost crippled in others. He is not soft and does not spare anyone because it is “Bad” so expect that there would be genocide and some bloody encounters. I want this instead of just the MC’s search for life and its complication. Where Philosophy and values exist. A story where every action has proper consequences, and not everything can be conquered with a single punch (unless it can be, no need for an unnecessary complication if it can be avoided). Further Notes: This is a story that will gradually increase in word counts and become Chunkier as it progresses and will almost never be below 2000 words, but if the word count will only lengthen the chapter at the expense of a finished tale, it could and would be cut off before 2000 mark), give it a try, it won’t disappoint (I hope). And if by chance that you like it, giving a good Rating and Review will be encouraging to me and possible readers. Schedule: Monday and Friday If you want to read ahead and/or support me to creating this story, you can do it through my Patreon (link below the next chapter button.) This is also a rewrite of this: Peerless Hegemon [OLD] | Royal Road
