《Reincarnated: The Phoenix's Daughter》The Void

The transition was... Smooth, I would say.
In a moment, my consciousness faded, and in the other, I was here. Complete, pitch-black darkness in all directions.
At first, I felt I was falling. Although I hadn't really any hint of ground to be falling towards. The warm wind flowing through my face was a good indication though. It was... almost comforting, it reminded me of my blankets and my pillows... It made me really sleepy...
I got used to that feeling eventually, not knowing if I would ever stop falling made me kind of curious. Where was this warm wind coming from? Where was I? Why couldn't I see my body?
After a long time, I felt myself drifting to sleep.
[...]
I woke up again. I wonder how much time has passed… I mean... I have no clue how to measure time in this empty space. When I look around, I see nothing. Not even one reference to anything moving or being affected by this wind... Wait... What is that?
At the very end of my sight... A small light is flickering. By the way it moves... It seems to be some sort of flame, reminding me of the fire in a hearth...
Oh! It seems to be getting closer! I swear I saw it getting a little bigger!
Hm... I wonder... What is it? I mean... I'm going in its direction pretty fast... I think. This wind seems to be coming from it...
As I was thinking, I slowly drifted to sleep again...
[...]
Hm..? Eh..!
The fire! It's getting a lot bigger all of a sudden!
Why is it? Did I do something?
I'm pretty sure I was just sleeping, dreaming about what just happened!
The fire, that was just a little flame, a small ember at most... It had grown amazingly! Almost half of that void was now covered in flames. It was hot now, so hot! I felt myself burning, I could feel that wind sinking into me, I could feel it being absorbed into my soul.

Everything was flooded with flames.
[A god has taken note of your presence]
[Do you accept its invitation?]
[Yes] [No]
A machine-like voice sounded in my head, a screen appeared in front of my eyes, lightly blinking.
A god? What do you mean by that?
"Hey, answer me!" I thought angrily, almost hearing my own voice.
The window just kept blinking in front of me.
What does this mean? Why does a god want to invite me to something? If then, should I accept it? Will I get out of here if I do? I don't want to be here forever... That fire also gives me the creeps, a weird gut feeling
Hesitantly, albeit hastily because of the flames surrounding me. I agreed
"I... Yes"
[Transference Initiated]
[Starting Preparations]
[Residual Energy Gathering Started]
In a moment, the fire that surrounded me from all the directions begun moving closer, that wall of flames, bigger than anything that I had ever seen... Hey... Wait. WAIT. DON'T. TOO CLOSE!
The fire started spinning around me, creating a tornado of flames. I felt myself being torn apart and put back together, that flame was seeping into whatever I was, sinking into me, my screams shook that void, the pain I felt could not even be compared to those gunshots I had taken.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH! STOP, PLEASE! YOU ARE KILLING ME! STOP! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! IT BURNS! IT HURTS SO MUCH! SOMEONE MAKE IT STOP! PLEASE HELP!..."
I screamed. I yelled. Cried. Bawled my throat out, even without having one. I called the names of every and all of the gods that I knew, begged them for my life to make it stop. But it didn't, and for an eternity, I burned, then I kept burning, for what seemed like another eternity, and another, and another... My pleas turned incoherent, but to my despair, I didn't turn numb. The pain didn't lessen for even a moment, and my yells, my cries, and screams... Turned into the howls of a... Thing. It was dangerous, it wasn't human anymore, in fact, you couldn't even call it a monster.

It was injured. It was scarred, barely held together by an iron will…
A will that few knew was even there, maybe not even I…
Born from that terrible pain and unshakable will, came anger… Anger so strong the fires started thinning, recoiling away, even if just for a moment.
Then they burned brighter and brighter, preparing to swallow me whole.
When they moved upon me, I felt hatred… But also, something else, something so scary that what was left of me just wanted to snuff it out…
A hunger… So deep that it would strike fear upon the demons of the deepest of hells…
That is what I became…
An iron will capable of fighting the heavens…
An anger capable of drowning the deepest seas…
A hunger, so uncontrollable, so horrifying, that it was... completely and utterly… Insatiable.
Then…
[Preparations Finished]
[Teleportation Started]
Finally, the last of my consciousness blacked out.

Beings capable of crushing mountains with their monstrous might, creatures that breathe fire and magic and death all at once. In this land, our story begins. Hello dear readers. Long have I been a voracious book gobbler and tonight I thought I'd try my hand. However I crave acknowledgement so please leave a review, all criticism is welcome. If my meagre offerings are accepted by the book gods, (and to a lesser extent, this community) I shall endeavor to persevere with my writing, though this was done on a whim. Probably will be edited at some point, perhaps blue box chan will make an appearance. Typos are likely, please point them out if you see any. And now that you have been captivated by my enchanting synopsis, please enjoy.
