The national news anchors were all covering the same news, major cities worldwide were experiencing power outages and communication blackouts.

People in New York and Los Angeles were both without power and, according to the news, their populations had started rioting shortly before sunrise. The police were powerless to stop the numbers of coordinated people, and some reports had the police joining the rioters.

When it came time to talk about Houston, they aired footage of zombies being shot by the police and national guard soldiers with the caption of “Police open fire on protesters in Houston.” After a few minutes of experts and commentators debating an audible banging could be heard. Then the doors to the news room burst open and a swarm of zombies stormed in. On live TV, America watched as news anchors were strangled and beaten to death by people that should obviously be dead as their bodies were covered in what should be lethal wounds. The morning news team were then dragged out of view of the cameras before the broadcast was cut off. everyone at Hoss' house sat in stunned silence.

Hoss stood up and walked to his living room window, “looks like this ain’t over.”

They split up into teams of two, it seemed like everyone had at least a small cache of supplies and/or weapons.

Just after everyone left Hoss’ house the presidential emergency broadcast override popped up on the TV and everyone got a text notification.

After a few moments of the screen showing the emergency broadcast system placeholder, the image changed to that of an older man in a navy dress uniform sitting in the oval office.
