《Killing Zombies Is Like A Game?!》Chapter 12: Haha...fuck!

I heard the sound of flesh being ripped through from behind me. Hearing the tumbling sound that reminded me of a large sack of rice, I glanced to see the grey colored zombie lying on the floor with black shit coming out from a hole in its head.
Without stopping, I continued running forward until I was underneath the overhang of the apartment in front of me. Unlike my apartment building, this one was more, um, how do I say this… more luxurious? Yep, I will go with that. This building was like a four star hotel compared to our three star version.
Anyways, when I reached the shadows, I took a peek behind me.
Bang.
Bang.
Bang.
One after another the shots kept raining down like it was a gun show on the fourth of july. I knew it wasn’t smart to stay in one place for even a short period of time, but the zombies never made it close to the shadow. They just kept getting pelted with bullets. After a dozen rounds or so, the firing stopped but the zombies kept coming.
As I turned for the door to the building, I heard a heavy sound thump on the ground that was different from an undead body falling on the ground. I turned back around to see a small wrapped cloth that seemed to be encasing a ball or something spherical.
Pondering for just a moment before making my way into the building, a smoke started to flow out from the small sack. Not willing to die while watching some mini firework, I turned back for the door.
Boom!
A small spark piqued my ear followed by an explosion!
I tumbled onto the ground. Managing my fall with my forearms to lift me up, I started coughing uncontrollably. My vision started to blur as a type of smoke started to fill the air.
However, this didn’t seem like regular white smoke soldiers use in war, no this smoke was black for some reason. I couldn’t help but gag from the gut wrenching smell it emanated but I also had other things to worry about.

Coughing with every movement, I propped myself back onto my feet. Looking forward I came to a realization… I couldn’t see a fucking thing! If I am going to die, at least show me where the fuck I’m going to die from! Curse this bloody world.
Squinting my eyes, I could see some silhouettes of people figures walking aimlessly in the smoke. Hmm, the zombies can’t see in this shit? Well make that two because I can’t see shit either.
Waving my hand through the air, I tried looking around for the door one more time. Well… until I heard the sounds of the white sacks being dropped once more.
Is someone trying to kill me! Either they don’t want me inside or they really like foggy areas. It’s going to be looking like Seattle pretty soon I swear to fucking god.
“Leave the area at once!”
Ahhh so the bastard really did not want to talk. Fuck my life.
Ding!
I watched as fifty credits entered my vision at once.
What the fuck? Is it already day time? Shit. I’ve been out here for way to fucking long. Plus with a psychopath killer trying to smoke me out or blow me up, I have no time to be sticking around.
Quest Updated: Survive the attacks of Old Man Rick
Reward: 200 Credits
Survive...the attacks… of Old Man…. Rick? Survive the wh—
Boom!
The sacks exploded one after another just like the rain of bullets from before. Puffs of smoke and sparks filled the air as I hurtled through like a blind person doing christmas shopping.
When I heard the sounds of gunshots being fired once more, that was my signal to make it back to my side of the street! All I have to do is survive right? Easy, easy, this will be so easy. What’s so hard about making it back to my building? All I have to do is cross the street right?

Just choosing a direction and running, the strong scent and density of the smoke made things way much harder than it needed to be.
Is… is that a light?
In front of me was a bright circle that seemed to be getting brighter and brighter as I ran towards it. I felt the air slap against my face as I bursted through the smoke with the intensity of a football player trying to break the frontline of a professional college team… Which means not that intense because let’s be real, they don’t take much to break through if I’m being honest.
So, like I was saying, as I came out from the smoke, my eyes adjusted to the creeping sunlight and I suddenly realized.
I fucked up.
Looking in front of me I could see that it was only more street...with two buildings on both my sides.
Shit! I ran down the street instead of across it. Now I am just farther away from the entrance to the apartment. Ah, everything is doomed. Everything is just doomed. This is like my teammates in league of legends instalocking mid or adc even though they got a different role. Spell it with me.
D.o.o.m..e.d.
Doomed!
Turning back around, I couldn’t even see a sign that those rotting pieces of flesh were in there. Like actually no sign of anything in there. If I was just someone driving by with no idea what was in there, I would probably try driving straight through that cloud of death.
Well, at least with this cloud since I can’t see them, they probably can’t see me. Turning to the left, I Made a break for my apartment building until...bang!
“What the!” I screamed.
In front of me was a gunshot hitting the ground. The sparks are still flashing in my mind. I looked behind and up which is where the gunshot came from I assume and I could see a rifle pointing down.
Didn’t this guy want me to leave? Why the fuck is he stopping me then!
Another bullet was shot and I quickly sprinted forward. There weren't enough credits in the world to make me want to stick around for this. After the first shot however, no more came except for the occasional explosion from behind me which I assumed was the weird ass smoke bombs.
I made it to the door of the apartment building and I yanked that shit open so hard that I felt like the door was about to break. Of course it wasn’t because I’m as skinny as that one nerd from highschool that sits in the front of the classroom with their calculators taking up half of their backpacks.
By the way, those Ti-84 scientific calculators cost so much fucking money. Like, for what reason? And schools require this? I could do the same shit for free on some random ass website if schools just let us use our god damn phones or some sort of computer.
Cough, anyways, rant over as I run for my life from this damned maniac and zombie apocalypse.
I jumped inside and quickly looked out the door. The smoke was starting to dissipate and I seemed to have caught the eyes of those unpleasant bastards from within. They started hurtling towards me like a pack of stampeeding buffalo trying to protect their homeland. Leave me alone!
Running forward, I slammed the door shut and quickly placed my back to the door.
Then, it hit me. That noise was really loud huh? And there’s zombies in this building huh?
…
Fuck.
