《Killing Zombies Is Like A Game?!》Chapter 9: Damn Tech Nerd
Advertisement
That girl actually has a drone. Doesn’t she know how expensive those things are? Orphanage my ass, she must have tons of money with all that robot shit I saw laying around her apartment. Maybe I should wife her and live an easy life…
As memories flashed in my eyes I shook my head and decided living with a demon would be too tiring. I would never reach Challenger if I’m dead.
Walking through the hallway with both hands gripping the small bat, I remained cautious while minding my surroundings. I held the drone between my arm and body because if a zombie starts coming at me, I’m going swinging for home runs and not giving a fuck about some drone!
Though, it still is so dark. Having to squint the whole time even when my eyes are adjusted is tiring. What happened to the power in the hallways and lobby? The power seems to be fine.
There were zombies banging their heads against the walls while others swayed standing still. It creeped the fuck out of me how I knew some of the people here. Like the zombie with a ripped up anime shirt was a neighbor of the floor who would always come home excited to watch Re: Zero or something like that.
Another one was a person in a bloodied up apron that brought my cookies the first time I moved in… Good times. Good times.
Holding the drone is truly uncomfortable. This thing has four legs with four helicopter thingies at the top. Kayla explained why I needed to bring this down but I just don’t get it.
I reached the staircases without any trouble however, when I looked at the bottom of the staircase my heart sank when I saw that a stray zombie was just standing there as if it was in deep thought. Who are you trying to imitate? Aristotle? Nietzsche? I’m sorry, but the abyss is already staring back at you.
Shit, how am I supposed to make it to the lobby?
When I looked up there was a clear path but why would I go up? How would I be able to cross the street from the roof. Haha it’s not like I can ride the drone… ya I probably can’t.

I eyed the tiny gap between the zombie’s disgusting rotting body and the railing. It’s small but if I go on my tip-toes and suck in my stomach I could probably make it.
I slowly made my way down without making a single noise. That’s right, if I wanted to I could become the best assassin. I started breathing in small intervals to keep the sound down. When I got to the gap I closed my eyes and prayed before getting on my toes and scooting my way through .
I turned on my heel being all giddy because making it across would be a breeze. Except… what the fuck!
The whole lobby was filled with zombies just swaying their ugly looking heads. Getting through that sea of rotting flesh would definitely be impossible.
I dropped my shoulders and sighed inwardly before making my way back between the gap.
However, just when I was about to pass the zombie, my phone vibrated. Since I was as close to the wall as possible, it started vibrating with the hall creating a very obnoxious noise.
The zombie focused it’s head right at me and snarled.
Fuck.
Without anymore hesitating I smacked down on the bish as hard as I could and ran up the stairs.
Ding! +5
I killed it? Ah! Now's not the time!
When I reached our floor all the zombies were already scrambling up and looking in my direction. All I can do is curse inwardly at the damn tech nerd! What is she doing!
Not good, not good, not good!
I continued running up the stairs as fast as I could. A zombie was hurtling down like a madman so I gave him three wacks to the dome against the wall. Not holding back an ounce of my strength.
Ding! +5
Again? What the fuck, I’m going to be rich if I keep this up… well that’s if I can survive first. As I stumbled up, I would hear the rumbles under my feet as zombies on the other floors would hear me running.
I grit my teeth and wished to be back in my gaming chair killing zombies with a controller rather than in real life.
Whenever one hurtled in front of me I would Smack! That fucker back to the grave where it belongs. All I could hear in my head were a few dings each time as I made my way up. It probably sounded five more times before the path was mostly clear and a good thing too because I am tired as hell.

I somehow made it up nine flights of stairs and when I was about to reach for the door at the very top, a zombie grabbed my heel from below!
I turned around with sweat beating down my brow as I started whacking it’s fingers. However, I was panicking and would often hit my leg.
Snarl!!!
A humongous herd that could probably rival buffalos were screeching behind me and I could see them climbing on top of each other as they made their way up.
In a situation like this oftentimes other people would scream and accept their fate. Yelling to Canada and back to not die like the zombies wouild give a fuck about your begging.
However, I’m not other people… I just peed a little and grit my teeth.
I grasped the drone with one hand and pulled out my phone. I hit ‘2’ on the numpad and the call instantly went through.
“Kayla! Turn on the drone!” I ordered without wasting any time.
A static feedback sounded first as if the tech nerd was going to retort but instead, the drone started whirring. Nice! I shoved the phone back into my pocket. Beamining with adrenaline, I held the fast propellers of the drone in front of me and lowered it onto the face of the zombie!
Ha bitch!
I aimed for the eyes which made it growl even more but it’s grip was still gorilla glue tight.
I lowered the fast propellers down onto its fingers and wrist.
Now don’t get me wrong, this drone is huge for what it is and feels very expensive. It must be top of the line because soon the decaying moving corpse that is a zombie finally fell down the stairs after most of its fingertips were in pieces!
I pushed open the door and quickly shut it close. I pushed my back against it as zombies started slamming onto it.
Think, think, think!
Looking around, I found a chain by my feet and a pipe where I can latch the handle with. I quickly reached down and did so, securing my safety with a chained door.
I took a few steps back and stared at the pounding door before closing my eyes and letting out a sigh of relief. I’m safe.
But as I looked around the roof I realized… I’m fucking stuck here.
The roof just one giant square with nothing on it except generator or ventilators I don’t know what the fuck these square transformers are.
I walked to the edge of the roof and saw the opposite building right in front of me. However when I looked down… it was like the depths of hell were taunting me to come down. Hell no bitch! I’m staying up here and I don’t care.
I felt my phone vibrating and my face turned livid. This tech nerd almost got me killed!
“Kayla!” I yelled instantly after answering the phone.
The other side was quiet. Ha, it seems like she knows what she did was wrong. That’s right, I won’t back down without a sincere apology and handwritten note.
Beep!
The call beeped off and I was left looking stupid while holding the phone in front of me. This damned petty nerd.
However, when I scrolled through the phone notifications I realized the number that called me wasn’t Kayla but… Mother? And then another unknown number right after.
Oh no…
Of course she wouldn’t call at a time like that no matter if she didn’t like me or not. Cough, oops.
I quickly sent a two worded text to Kayla.
“My bad.” and hit send before dialing back to Mother.
The phone instantly went to voice message. Tsk. I called back on the unknown number but it also went straight to voicemail. Why would they not answer? The unknown number is probably little sis. Did… something happen?
As I gazed back at the other building, I now know that I can’t return back down those flights of stairs. How am I supposed to get over there? Maybe I can make a bridge out of blankets and shit haha… just kidding….

In this story I will try to mix classical fantasy elements together with typical Xianxia tropes, but in the end I always try to have a logic and reason behind why the world functions as it does.
