《The Immortalai》A Friend And Some Answers

It's been a few days since the deaths of Itanrora and Yaitera and everyone still feels their deaths looming over the kingdom, they may not have been of Geirlanth but they were well loved and respected nonetheless. Reinlas and Farenhale especially are feeling down after the deaths many have noticed but both have put on a happier face for their people. Reinlas is heading to the royal garden behind the castle as he sees Laraka the captain of the guard and the one who trains them, he is also known as an exemplary fighter.
"My king, how are you this day?" Laraka asks
"I am well though the deaths of my friends still weigh on my heart" Reinlas says
"I'm sure it would my king, we all feel the weight of the death but I am sure if that bastard in black armour comes for us we will be ready to avenge of those he has killed" Laraka says
"Indeed anyway I had wondered about you Laraka, I know so long ago that Farenhale made you captain of the guard due to your fighting prowess where did you learn to fight?" Reinlas asks
"Well truth be told, I trained myself and I have been here for a long time being apart second generation" Laraka says
"Oh I hadn't realised you were of the second generation Laraka" Reinlas says a little surprised
"Ah it is fine my king, It doesnt matter because either way I am here serving you and I couldnt be happier" Laraka says
"I am glad to hear that Laraka" Reinlas says with a smile on his face
"I have taken it upon myself to train the guards and other soldiers whenever I can in the way I trained myself and it has yielded good results so far but obviously some are better than others and those with magic like you and me have extra qualities that make them better than some others" Laraka says
"Indeed, magic users have some incredible abilities that set them apart from the no-" Reinlas is interrupted by a loud screech louder than any person should be able to give and it is so loud it causes physical pain.
"What is that!?" Reinlas shouts

He draws his blade as does Laraka and they rush outside to the royal garden where the screech is coming from and Laraka conjures spectral soldiers if this is some kind of attack but instead they see Farenhale there training and that sonic screech is coming from him and it has caused a hole to be dug in the ground and the target that was once there has been obliterated, Farenhale stops the screech.
"Damn, I wont be using that" Farenhale says softly his voice hard to hear
"Brother, what the fuck was that!?" Reinlas says grabbing his head which is still in pain from the screech
"It is something I had recently found out about and I decided to use it to its fullest but it destroyed my throat and my damn ears" Farenhale says softly still
"I thought we were in danger of some new beast" Laraka says
"My apologies Laraka I should have warned everyone" Farenhale says
Laraka de-conjures the soldiers.
"I may have overreacted by conjuring the soldiers" Laraka say
"Actually if it was an attack those soldiers would have been helpful, am I right to assume that your primary magic is conjuration?" Reinals asks
"Indeed my king, It was the first magical ability of mine to show itself making it my primary and most powerful in fact the soldiers dont take much magic as I have perfected that in all my years" Laraka says
"Very interesting Laraka" Reinlas says
"Brother while I am here I forgot to mention that after soem research and experimenting I may know a bit more about the eye changing thing" Farenhale says
"Let us go back inside and then you can tell me more brother" Reinlas says
The brothers and Laraka go back inside but Laraka has to leave for his own guard duty but the brothers leave to go to another room that Farenhale has brought some of his things into.
"From what I have been able to find out through what has been evident and from experimentation with my own magic, this changing of eye colour is just a physical clue to show that a change in our magic has happened but one only those of our blood line can have" Farenhale says
Advertisement
"What change and why can only those of our bloodline have this change?" Reinlas asks
"Keep in mind I could be completly wrong but from what I have gathered this change in our magic is rather simple. When the eyes change our magic increases and by that I mean how much magic we can use and even the output of our magic increases to more than we can usually use and it seems red may not be the only colour our eyes will change too and what ever colour it changes to augments our magic in similar ways but the difference is by how much more we can use. As for your other question as to why only those of our bloodline can use it, well from what I myself have discovered it seems to be a hereditary ability again meaning only those of our bloodline can have it" Farenhale says
"And you are sure all this is true?" Reinlas asks
"This is all I have surmised through my research but I could be wrong" Farenhale says
"Hmm well if true this is interesting, is there anything else?" Reinals asks
"Oh yes, the ability seems to have a rather deep connection to our emotions and that seems to make more sense given every time its shown itself. The other day after the vision ended and other times during battle against those poison creatures" Farenhale says
"That does make sense I guess" Reinlas says
"I shall continue to research the ability and get more concrete answers brother" Farenhale says
"Right, thank you brother" Reinlas says with a smile
The sound of metal boots running down the hall is heard and Reinlas goes out to see what happening and Laraka is going by.
"Laraka what is going on?" Reinlas asks
"Some more creatures have just attacked guards at the gates and due to some being injured and others possible critically injured castle guards are needed as back up, I am going as well as I will not allow a single death" Laraka says as he continues running outside
"Damn, more of those creatures, I'd best get down there and try to help" Reinlas says
Reinlas speeds down to the gate and goes up the wall to look outside and see how bad the situation is but when he looks out over the wall he sees Laraka with a squad of spectral soldiers defending the injured as they are pulled out. Laraka is fending off as many creatures as he can, the spectral soldiers are making a wall to keep the creatures back as the archers prepare to let their arrows fly and kill a majority of the creatures. Laraka is fighting well, the creatures cannot get close not only because of the spectral soldiers but because they are no match for his skill with a blade.
"I-Is that captain Laraka?" One archer says
"It is, ARCHERS FIRE AT THE CREATURES" Reinlas shouts
All archers shoot their arrows as usual the creatures lose many and retreat far from the walls. Reinlas vaults over the wall and lands next to Laraka.
"I can see why you have begun training others Laraka" Reinlas says
"Thank you my king, this may have been a smaller attack than some others in the past but I am glad that my spectral soldiers can do something" Laraka says with a bit of pride
"I can tell those soldiers you summoned are a damn fine force laraka they seem to fight about as well as you" Reinlas says
"Indeed as their fighting is replicating my own combat style, I know how they fight but also it gives me a damn fine training partner" Laraka says and laughs about
"I can imagine so" Reinlas says
All the injured are getting healed and being given antidotes so that they survive both the poison and wounds they sustained. Reinlas had learned much from his own magic to the life of laraka and he left to return to the castle. When Reinlas returned he had a flash of a vision yet again of that door in the valley city castle and a body falling.
"Dammit what the hell does that mean!?" Reinlas shouts in annoyance
He knows till it happens he wont get an answer but for now at least he can rest.

A/N: The first three chapters are set in an ancient setting and then after that it's interstellar, so some patience is required. Does this novel have comedy? Yes. But that's not the main part. What went into the cauldron of whatever this novel is was angst, age progression, and Technoids. I like to kill off my characters, but I also don't. So come check this out if you want redemption arcs, an MC who travels through death, and cool fighting robots controlled by people. We have friendship, romance, and random drama, so buckle up and have fun.

Sh*t My Parents Say
(don't expect a steady update timeline)Hello! I'm KC; I live with Mom, Dad, and Little Sister. This is a story of real conversations I've had with my parents. I'd just like to clarify that my parents are really lovely people that mean no harm with their twisted, sarcastic humour; They simply think they are funny. (Sometimes the grandparents say something note-worthy, as well.) *Caution, profanity.*Best Rank: #44 in Random
