《The Legend of The Grandmaster》Chapter 11

As the sunlight entered the room through the window, Yu Xiaogang, who sat cross-legged on the ground meditating the whole night, woke up. Although he did not make any progress, his spirit energy was circulating more smoothly in his meridians. Yu Xiaogang's spirit energy and spiritual energy became more condensed after breaking through the spirit-grandmaster rank and felt that there might be a change after the Devouring Codex's chapter one enters the fourth stage.
Yu Xiaogang glanced outside through the window; he turned around and looked at his sleeping daughter. " Wake up, little Yan. " Yu Xiaogang spoke while entering the bathroom to freshen up. As he walked out, Yu Xiaogang saw little Yan sitting on the chair and looking outside through the window.
" Freshen up; we will go outside and have breakfast. " Yu Xiaogang said.
"Un." Yu Yan nodded and walked towards the bathroom. He didn't have to wit for a long time as little Yan returned in a few minutes. Apparently, the little girl's love for food is much stronger than he had thought in his mind.
Both of them walked downstairs after leaving their room and entered the hotel's restaurant. An attendant greeted them as they entered the restaurant and helped them to a vacant table. Yu Xiaogang ordered two bowls of vegetables and a few steamed meat buns. He glanced at the little girl and added a glass of warm milk. The attendant left after recording the order and soon returned with the food.
Yu Xiaogang and Yu Yan stepped out of the hotel after eating the food and started walking to the south of the hotel. They were walking towards the Nuoding Academy located in the south of their hotel.
" We are going to the Nuoding Academy, and you will be living there for the next six months. " Yu Xiaogang told little Yan while strolling through the market. " Father... I" Yu Yan held his hand tensely after she heard him.
" Don't worry, Yan'er, I am not going to leave you. " Yu Xiaogang interrupted her and said after looking at her nervous expression. He patted little Yan's head to comfort her. They continued to walk for a couple of minutes before reaching the entrance of the academy.
Nuoding Academy is one of the famous primary spirit-master academies in the Fasinuo Province of the Heaven Dou Empire. The Dean of the academy has the authority to sponsor one excellent student each year for higher education at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. Yet, there has not been a single pupil to be sponsored in the last few years.
Even though Nuoding Academy is just a primary academy, it is well built, and anyone can see the huge building from the gate itself. Yu Xiaogang and Yu Yan walked towards the entrance only to be stopped by the guard on the gate.
The guard carefully looked at Yu Xiaogang and Yu Yan and judged from the clothes the duo were wearing that they might be nobles traveling from a different city. He respectfully asked, " Sir, what is the reason for your visit? " Yu Xiaogang naturally understood the reason behind the guard's politeness and replied, " I am here to see your Dean. Tell him Yu Xiaogang is here to meet. "

The guard couldn't allow them to enter the academy and asked them to wait for some time while he asks his superiors for the confirmation. Yu Xiaogang nodded and waited with little Yan while waiting for him to come back.
#
The guard entered the academy and walked towards the main school building. He stepped into the building and walked up the stairs towards the Dean's office. He knocked on the door after reaching the office and waited for the response. A young teacher in the early twenties opened the door; he frowned after seeing the guard standing outside the office.
He impatiently asked the guard for the reason why he was not at his post. The guard got scared after hearing the impatience in the teacher's voice and hurriedly spoke, " Sir, there is a man named Yu Xiaogang in mid-twenties accompanied by a little girl waiting outside the academy. "
The teacher felt he was familiar with the " Yu Xiaogang " name but could not remember clearly. He told the guard to wait outside the office as he turned around and stepped back into the office and closed the door. The teacher walked forward and respectfully saluted, " Director Su! " and told him the entire conversation he just had with the guard.
Director Su stopped his work after hearing the teacher; he stood up from his chair and walked out of the office. He gestured the guard to walk and followed behind. As they stepped out of the building and walked towards the entrance of the academy, he saw one big and one small two people standing outside the gate.
#
Yu Xiaogang and Yu Yan waited outside for the guard to return. The little girl looked around curiously at everything as this was the first time she saw it. Yu Xiaogang, on the other hand, had mixed emotions after returning. He was a waste sprit-grandmaster and couldn't advance to the next rank, but today everything has changed. Although he is still a rank 23 spirit-grandmaster, his powers rival those to a peak spirit-king.
They did not have to wait for a long time as the guard returned with another person whom Yu Xiaogang recognized.
Director Su walked out of the gate and looked at Yu Xiaogang's face as if trying to recognize him, but he failed to and asked him, " Who are you, mister? " Yu Xiaogang laughed at his question and replied, " Su! you fail to recognize me even when I am the reason you became the director in the first place. "
Director Su was stunned on the spot and couldn't reply for a long time. He calmed down and looked carefully at Yu Xiaogang and finally muttered, " Grandmaster, is that really you? You have changed a lot from the last time we met. "
Yu Xiaogang gestured him as if saying it is not a big deal and received a glare from the other party. He sighed and said, " I ate an immortal herb. " as an explanation for his current changes as a cover-up for the black pearl within his body. Director Su believed him as this was the only possible answer for his current situation and envied his luck for finding such a heaven-defying immortal herb.

Director Su turned his face towards the little girl and looked back at Yu Xiaogang as if asking her identity. Yu Xiaogang rubbed little Yan's head and told him that she is his daughter.
#
The guard finally exhaled after seeing Director Su had recognized the person. He went back to his position and resumed his duty.
#
Director Su was shocked after listening to him and closely glanced at Yu Yan to check the similarities between the two. Yu Yan got scared by his sudden look and hid behind Yu Xiaogang.
Yu Xiaogang slightly coughed and succeeded in gaining his attention and asked him, " Is my room still available? " Director Su laughed and replied, " The Dean wouldn't let anyone touch it. " Yu Xiaogang nodded and asked if he could get another pair of bedding delivered to his room to which he nodded.
The trio then entered the academy. Yu Yan looked curiously at the trees and plants on the border of the road. Yu Xiaogang explained it to little Yan that the academy had three major buildings, " The main school building housing the offices of all the teachers and the classes for the students. The dormitory for all the students currently studying in the academy and a big ground for physical exercises. "
They reached the main building as Yu Xiaogang was telling his daughter about the academy, and Director Su asked an attendant standing outside to bring the key of Yu Xiaogang's room from the dean's office.
Yu Xiaogang took Yu Yan away after receiving the key to his room. They walked towards the south of the dormitory and reached a small three-story building. Both of them walked up to the first floor and entered his room.
Yu Xiaogang glanced around after entering the room and found that everything was the same as before. The room had simple decorations with a huge bookshelf covering up an entire wall and a desk in front of it, a wooden bed opposite to the bookshelf with two big windows providing ample fresh air in the room.
Yu Xiaogang told little Yan that he would teach her strictly from tomorrow. The little girl was excited after hearing this and had no idea of the pain and torture she would face in training. He let her play in the academy for the rest of the day and arranged everything in the room.
Yu Xiaogang and Yu Yan both walked into the main building to eat food. Yu Xiaogang told little Yan to return to the room as he walked towards the dean's office. He looked for Director Su and asked him if he could arrange the spirit beast meat for his daughter for the next six months.
Yu Xiaogang returned to the room after a while and saw that little Yan already slept. He also sat in the meditative position and closed his eyes.
The next morning Yu Xiaogang woke little Yan early and told her to freshen up while he went out to get food for both of them; he returned quickly and placed the food on the desk. Yu Yan also stepped out of the bathroom after a while and started eating food with him.
After a quick meal, both of them went to the big sports ground and told little Yan to run ten laps around as a warm-up, and he summoned his second martial spirit and started training with the spear.
He stopped practicing after he saw that little Yan had completed the task. Yu Xiaogang gestured her to come over and told her to rest for a few minutes. He showed the first three postures of the " Sage physique transformation " while she sat down to recover her physical strength.
After demonstrating the postures, he strictly warned her not to practice more than three times a day. Yu Xiaogang gestured her to start. Yu Yan nodded, and as soon as she started practicing, she felt a sharp pain all over her body.
She gritted her teeth and completed the first three stances and fell unconscious instantly after that. Yu Xiaogang was surprised that she managed to complete all three of them. He picked her up and returned to the room.
Yu Xiaogang had already prepared a medicinal bath of the ginsengs he had purchased before. He entered the bathroom after returning to the room and gently put her in the bathtub. Yu Yan's body rapidly absorbed all the nutrients in the bathtub, and the water became clear again quickly.
Yu Yan woke up after an hour and found herself in the bathtub. She recalled the sharp pain while practicing the stances, and her body trembled.
" Little Yan, the food is ready. " As she was thinking about the pain, Yu Yan heard her father's voice and quickly changed and stepped out of the bathroom.
Yu Xiaogang cooked the meat of the spirit beast provided by Director Su and placed it on the table as he waited for the little girl to come out. Yu Yan quickly sat on the chair and started eating the food.
Yu Xiaogang laughed after looking at this scene. He asked her if she felt any different from before. The little girl was puzzled and didn't understand what her father was implying. Yu Xiaogang shook his head and told her directly that her physique had strengthened significantly. Yu Yan was surprised after hearing this, yet she told him about the sharp pain she felt.
Yu Xiaogang laughed and said that pain would reduce as she gets familiar with the stances. Yu Yan nodded as she believed her father's words. Yu Xiaogang didn't tell her to practice again; instead, he took a book out of the bookshelf and started teaching her more about martial spirits. He believed that a combination of theoretical education and physical training was best for a student.

This Strange New Life
Seems like I got a new chance. Better not fuck it up then, since I really want to see what it feels to have a family. Power is pretty lame alone. Best used to build things and protect people. Did a lot of building 'till now, lots of research stuff and all. Now, let's protect the people that I love and that loves me back. An enjoyable life with my loved ones. Whatever the cost. Mufufu~~ What can I do, my siblings are so cute~~ maybe I'll try having children at some point~? --- PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION ^p^ ---- This is an extremely slow reincarnation story, with heavy usage of dialogues and diminutive descriptions. Chapter are posted whenever I feel like it, because I won't burn myself down like I did before. Chapters will often be around 2k words. The first arc, Life in Valince, will be at least 50 chapters deep, and the main character won't get to her 1 year anniversary over the span of this arc. As I said, it's a slow, character interaction, dialogue-heavy story. Lots of feeling, slice-of-life etc, with some dramatic events that shape the rest of the story ^^ AND PLEASE, STOP PESTERING ME ABOUT JAPANESE. this story contain a very limited amount of japanese words, used in context for a reason and that are part of the mystery of the worldAnd the bad guys use german (not because nazi buit because german is badass)And there’s also french. Please be open-minded. I’m not a delusional weeb and this kind of thing, and it would be very appreciated if people could be more polite. If you don't like it, I don't force you to read it, but a lot of people seems to like this novel nonetheless, so maybe you should give it a shot. ---- Lux's here! Yeah I know I should work on ToL and ToF but I had another idea, then another one. So here it is. Story talk about a war vet that reincarnate and can finally know what it is to have a family. I like engineering, creating things and all, so I'll try putting production scene in this. Like all my stories, it's about love, be it with family, friends or lovers. I like my coffee with so much love sugar that half the planet would get diabetes. You're warned. Also, the MC is quite OP, but I keep a progression curb and she still has things to learn, which she will eagerly do. After all, curiosity is one of her main drives, with a thirst for love and utter hate of loss, be it losing a battle or losing someone she loves. Ha, nearly forgot. CONTENT WARNINGS AREN'T FOR SHOW. Sex, of course. I'll try to explore sexuality as a male, a female, and some other PoV that can't be categorised like that, not exactly. Also, beware the yuri/yaoi. I don't limit myself to straight couples. Gore. A lot. Blood everywhere, guts spilling and all. I don't do censure. The Mc cut a wolf in half? you get the details of what is inside it. Traumatising content. I dunno. No NTR, no heartbreaking drama. However, some of you may dislike the way I handle bodies and flesh. Got some feedback about body horror on my previous works, but everyone as a different border separating transhumanism and body horror. Mine is pretty high. How high? Go read The Other Labyrthin to have an example. To put it in simple term, I've no problem at all to describe alien bodies, change in human bodies, interactions between differents strange species etc. Expect a lot of tentacle, bio-incubator, spawning pool à la zerg. Profanity. Well, I think you fucking got it in the very first sentence of this synopsis, ain't right? ---- THIS IS A WIP (work in progress)! Earlier chapters may get retconned or completely changed, structure of the story isn't set in stone, all the usual stuff. ANY HELP IS WELCOMED. Want to throw me your idea? Shoot! This is my first story here on RRL and it's becomming one of the things I look forward to working on each day. As of June 2020, the story description has been updated (now that the characters have told me what was actually going on this author thought it prudent to update this) . Updates will be sporatic as i have time to juggle real life with writing. You the readers have become an integral part of the story helping to decide how things will progress, so enjoy the story and please leave a review or rating so this author can continue to improve the story. New chapters coming soon with edits to existing ones in process As a side note, I wish I could add a science tag to this. While this is still fiction, I have been incorporating real life scientific theories and explanations for how things could be *plausibly* explained. (No, I will not lecture on these points, but they are added to author notes) ~badw0lf

Warhammer 40,000: Mind over Matter
Set in the Warhammer 40k universe, but accessible to those unfamiliar with the setting. The Imperium of Man has been fighting the Long War for ten thousand years. It is a war fought simultaneously across thousands of stars and against innumerable enemies. On smoke-filled battlefields and in the cold emptiness of the void the military might of the Imperium stands strong in the face of horrifying foes. It is not a war fought to conquer new lands, or to seize the wealth of enemy nations. It is a war fought to hold what they have, or to regain what they have already lost. The world of Nova Iberia is far from that war and supports the Imperium by sending her finest sons to foreign stars to fight and die as elite commandos in the Imperial Guard. A chance discovery on the corpse of one of these commandos has cast doubts around the world's loyalty, and has drawn the attention of the Imperial Inquisition. The seekers of the Alien, the Heretic and the Daemon have descended upon this peaceful world, and they will not leave it intact.
