《Dungeons and Adventurers.》Volume 1: Chapter 1(P4) - Statistics card

I walked into the card shop and looked at the different arrays of statistic cards. There were so many to choose from but I wanted the crystal one.
“Excuse me!”
“Give me a moment young adventurer!”
The shop owner said to me as he was attending another customer. A girl that was wearing an adventurer's cloak made out of cloth, it was red in color with wool outlining the cloak. She wore clothes that only covered her breasts. She wore a tight shorts that was jean’s material. She had long hair that was behind the cloak, it was colored brown, hazel brown and it reached to her waist.
She looked like she was buying a statistics card, the card she held was a pink card with laces of ribbon surrounding the sides.
As I looked closer she seems to be showing her old previous statistic card which was slightly worn out, it was also pink as her new one. It didn’t have laces surrounding it.
‘Is she buying a new one to replace her old card?’
I thought to myself as I looked around the shop.
‘How much do this cost?’
I looked around and saw the price tags.
The plain looking one had a price tag handing, I took a peek and………..
‘10,000 Eliets’
I was in shock! That looked like the cheapest thing this shop had to offer.
‘It must be a mistake’
I looked over to the slightly more embroidered cards.
‘20,000 ELIETS’
*stumble*
My body had a jerking reaction to that shocking price. I seem to have caught the attention of the shopkeeper and the girl who was buying her new card.
“Is something wrong?”
The shopkeeper asked as the girl stared at me.
“E-e-errrrr, th-there’s nothing wrong”
I said that as I slowly stumbled out of the door with a face of disappointment.

As I walked out I heard some footsteps follow behind of me. I turned around to see that beautiful girl who was buying a replacement for her pink laced card.
“W-were you planning on buying a statistics card?”
As I heard that my face got even more grimmed
“Yes I was” I said in the most disappointing manner ever.
“Ehh… sorry did I say something wrong?” she said as she blushed.
“Noooooooooooooo” I said as I lost more air as I spoke.
“My name is Fenix, pleased to meet you”
“Mine is Mei Ayuzawa”
“Fenix-san, why do you look so disappointed walking out? It looked as if you’ve lost a massive bet and have went into a debt… orr……… your house burnt down?”
*Fwooooosh*
The wind blew in the awkward silence.
“I did not have enough money to buy a statistic card.” I said as my face turned purple.
“If you would like I could give you my old card?”
My face brightened up like the greatest sun you have ever seen, I was dazzled by her kindness.
“W-w-would you really give me your statistic card? Your old one?”
“Yes if you really do not mind an old one and that it is pink”
“Y-YES! Please!” I said flustered due to the fact of not having even 10,000 eliets to buy the cheapest one.
“Ayuzawa-san which guild do you belong from?”
“I don’t belong to any guild right now.”
“Huh? Why were you buying a statistic card then?”
“To update my stats!”
“But? I thought stats cannot be attained unless you join a guild?”
“Yes that is true, but your stats do stay even after you leave a guild….. Hmmmmmmm, the only problem is I cannot update my stats as I would need a guild leader.”

“Hmmmm, that’s a very peculiar way of having stats. So why did you leave your guild?”
“I…. don’t………… want to talk about that.” She covered her face using her cloak as she said that.
I could barely see that her eyes were welling up.
“Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusseeeeejeeeesooooo…” Weird sounds started coming out of my mouth my body suddenly straighten and my face started to turn worried and guilty.
“I’M SORRY! That was an insensitive question to ask!” I said with a guilt face bowing to her.
“It’s…. okay.”
“Would you please have lunch with me as an apology?” As she started wiping her tears and recovering from her state.
“It’s really okay, don’t worry about it!”
“NO, PLEASE! ACCEPT!”
“If you really don’t mind I will. Thank you!”
We walked to a restaurant ‘Risers’, they sold food that I would eat once in a year, it was slightly more expensive than normal food since it’s a restaurant. But it is a whole much cheaper than the others around, in my opinion this store sells the best there is around.
“Please order anything you would like!”
“May I have a Skillet Chicken with Brussel Sprouts and Apples”
“I’ll have the same as you then”
As I made the order to the waitress who came, nothing else did…… only silence……..
……….
…………
“Fen”
“Ayu”
We both called out to each other to break the silence. But we instead interrupted each other which makes it slightly worse. We both started to blush slightly.
“Please go ahead Ayuzawa-san”
“O-o-okay… Fenix-san ar-”
“Please just call me Fenix.”
“Ehhhhh!”
“O-okay then, Fe-Fe-Fenix. Are you a new adventurer?” She said as she flustered.
“Yes I am Ayuzawa-san. Which was why I was planning to buy a statistics card, but I didn’t know it was so expensive ==.................................................. I heard from a girl earlier that it was cheap.”
“Oh, which guild did you join then?”
“I actually created my own guild.” I said in a slightly proud tone.
“I was going to head over to the guild’s administration billboard to post a notice that I was recruiting new members.”
“New members? I was actually on my way to the guild’s administration billboard to find a new guild to join in too. My statistics haven’t been updated for a little while now ever since I left my prior guild.”
*Ayuzawa-san was planning on joining a new guild? Ohhhhh, I would love to have her on my guild, she’s a very kind soul.*
*Twitch* *Twitch*
“Fenix? Is everything okay?”
“Ayu-Ayuza-Ayuzawa-san, I was wondering whether you would be okay with joining my guild. I really need a new member too and it looks like you’re a mage type adventurer.”
“Ehhhhhhh!”
“I would definitely like to join your guild if you really would accept me the way I am now!”
“YOSHAAAAAA” I jumped out of my seat in excitement.
As I said that we both finished our meals.
“The grand total of your meals are 3,700 Eliets”
I froze in my excitement pose… My bodies outline suddenly turned from bold to scratchy….. My entire body turned white…… I could literally feel my soul exit my body through my mouth…….. I dropped to the ground still in my excitement pose……..
I took out my last money from my pocket. 3719 Eliets……..
I paid as we both left Risers

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above.
