Chapter Seven
After failing to obtain even a single level of cultivation, Li Feng walks to his room in the estate. It’s located in the far corner of the south wing, the furthest bedroom from any of his brothers’ or his father’s, and Lam Bai intercepts him along the way.
“Don’t feel back, young master. Even if you can’t become a cultivator, you can still be a scholar worthy of the emperor’s palace,” Lam Bai says, trying to encourage Li Feng. From her youthful days, she can remember some young men who killed themselves when they were the only member of their family to not receive any cultivation after their Boiling Cauldron of Nine Transformations ritual.
“I’m fine,” Li Feng says, arriving at his room. “Please, let me have a few minutes to myself,” He says, and partially enters his room.
“Of course,” Lam Bai says, and bows. ‘Poor young master, how’ll he cope?’
“Bai?” Li Feng says, now only poking his head out the door.
“Yes, young master?” Lam Bai lifts her head and asks.
“For tonight’s dinner, can you bring me an extra portion of roasted duck?” Li Feng asks.
“Of course,” Lam Bai says, this time smiling. Li Feng closes the door behind him, and Lam Bai walks away.
Now alone, Li Feng takes off his tunic and shoes and lays in his bed. ‘I wasn’t able to obtain their power, but I’ll still defeat them,’ He thinks, accepting that he’s unable to utilize the power which people call cultivation. Nonetheless, Li Feng is determined to avenge his kingdom.
Li Feng lived the first five years of his new life rather passively. He made special effort to not stand out much, except for being called trash, and has nothing beside his worthlessness for people to identify him with. However, while members of the estate mock Li Feng behind his back and to his face, he harbors a power far greater than even the heights he achieved in his previous life.

As any magician would know, a young mage’s training is best done when they are young. From the age of 3-years to 13-years of age was commonly referred to as the best period for growth, but that was only because nobody had ever trained their magic before their third birthday.
For Li Feng, a reincarnated individual, he could train immediately following his birth. Magical spirit energy, mana, which a magician uses to their spells, must be cycled through the body constantly to allow both a larger pool for the energy and stronger power. With a growing body, cycling the mana is both easier and more effective. For the first three years of his new life, Li Feng expanded his mana more than he did in his entire previous life!
Even though Li Feng holds the power to destroy a legion of soldiers, he’d be helpless against cultivators of the Spirit or Ascendant stages. Spirit cultivators can add elemental effects to their blows, making them almost on par with Li Feng. Ascendant cultivators have the same power as a hundred Spirit cultivators of the same level, meaning just one could kill Li Feng in an instant.
Because of these factors, Li Feng cannot seek out his revenge just yet. Instead, he must sit in his room and consolidate his mana. Maybe not for another eight years, when he ages past the optimal time for magical growth, but Li Feng will one day be something people fear. What type of revenge is Li Feng looking for? Complete dominance, of course. To be the next Heavenly Ascended Emperor; that’s his goal!

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?

Try not to get hunted down for the technology my ship planted in me without telling me............. Well that's new.
