Chapter 4 Death crown
"Caught you princess."
Dan grinned as he looked down onto Jake. The other only snorted before moving and jumping out of Dan's grip.
Together they now stood at the roof of the building, surrounded by the other experts of both sides fighting each other.
Of course their small escapade didn't remain unnoticed and as soon as they had gotten onto the roof a few figures had already started charging at them.
It was two men and one woman with various differing equipment.
The woman was equipped with a long black blade, resembling the Katana of ancient samurai while the two men were had either a pair of about 30 centimeter long knives or a regular gun. The man with the gun immediately aimed at the pair of Dan and Jake and started firing, missing Dan and Jake only by a small margin.
At the same time the woman with the long blade jumped into the air, lifting herself 5 meter above the ground and fell towards Dan and Jakes direction.
The other side reacted completely calm and unhesitating. Dan’s body suddenly blurred before he completely disappeared from his former spot while Jake took his gun and aimed at the descending woman with her long blade.
He pulled the trigger and a single shot hit right between the woman's brows.
In the same moment Dan reappeared next to the gun wielding man and a long needle appeared in his hand. His legs made complicated movements as he flashed behind the man, wrapped his arm around his head and stabbed the 20 centimeter long needle right through the other ear.
Loosening his grip the gun wielder fell to the ground just like a sack of potatoes. Blood streamed from his right ear and made a small puddle around his head.
Two corpses were lying in a distance of 5 meters from each other and what was more, they were killed in less than two seconds!
Two were down, one remained.
The last surviving double knife wielder trembled as he disbelievingly stared at Dan and Jake. He was completely unable to understand what had happened. They were three level two experts, a team that had even slain quite a lot level three experts, but this two men easily killed two of them in a few seconds.
Looking at this the last man could easily guess just who these two men in front of him were.
"You’re Dan the blood demon!"
As the knife wielder was still shuddering, unable to accept how his two friends had died, Jake had already crossed the 10 or so meters between them and his short dagger glittered in his right hand.
Slash.
A line appeared at the man's throat and blood splashed onto the ground. One last corpse fell to the ground.
Making a quick motion, Jake got rid of the blood on his dagger.
"Ok where is this super strong guy?"
Dan asked pulling his clothes straight. Jake pointed to a house on the other side of the street.
"That house over there. He has only appeared once while the battle, killing three men, two level two experts and one level three. After this he pulled back and entered the building not leaving it till now.

As for why I know that he is a monster like you. Who else is able to kill three experts, including a level three expert in less than 10 seconds?"
"Who was killed?"
Dan's voice grew cold as he spoke.
Of course in war people were bound to die and Dan was long since accustomed to the death of his comrades, but the loss of three experts, furthermore one level three expert was still hurting him quite deeply.
"Jean, Leon,…and Josh."
Dan desolately nodded. Then he turned.
"Are the men here the only ones fighting?"
In the area where the fighting was going on, there were only about two hundred men on his side and three hundred men on Death Crown's. Considering that both had more than two times more troops it was obvious that either side wasn't fighting with all resources.
"Yes, the others are busy, I ordered them to start building defenses."
Jake explained.
"Ok, 3 minutes. I will go and check this guy out. In three minutes you blow up the whole street and kill as many of them as possible. After this retreat to Mensen Street and defend.
Build up defenses for long time fights and organize shifts for the men. This is nothing that will reach conclusion in near future. Also don't limit on the west border, reinforce the defenses and quarters in every district and distribute our men."
Dan glanced at the grey building, the others supreme expert was supposed to be located in. He turned to Jake.
"Don't forget, three minutes."
His eyes met with Jake's. He nodded. Dan grinned and without further ado he went a few steps to the edge of the roof and jumped. Falling a few meters his body blurred and he disappeared before reaching the ground.
Jake sighed.
"Why is it always me who has to give orders?"
Turning around he turned on his headset.
"Guys, three minutes. Then we blow up this party."

Inside of the gray building.
The whole house was brimming with guards. On every door, every hall way, every stair case there are two or three men with AK's and small guns grimly staring around themselves. The whole security of the place was completely exaggerated considering that there was a powerful expert in the building.
After all, if even the newly emerged expert was unable to protect himself against the enemy, what use would some ordinary men with machine guns be against a fiend they wouldn't even be able to see?
Dan could only snort as he observed this circus as he sped through the hallways, unseen by anyone.
He felt that this was totally useless and foolish. After all if all of these men were killed by the sudden appearance of an expert it would be a major loss for the whole faction!
Either way he couldn't be bothered to kill the poor guards that could not even sense him as he walked around them. He was here to check out the strength of this expert that had suddenly appeared and other than this he had no wish to stay in this building longer than necessary.

He still had one meeting this evening and not yet got home today. The tantrum his sister would make when he would come home was something he didn't even want to imagine. Adding the time to kill the hundred plus men in the house onto his already filled timetable was something he rather wanted avoid.
Crossing one last corridor and quickly putting the two guards at the door to sleep he stood before the most central room in the whole building.
He didn't even have to search for this place. The whole construction of the guarding system and the architecture of the building already made it obvious that this was the place the other expert was waiting….
for him.
All these guards, all the hints, everything in this house was meant to lead him to this one room and to the person that wanted to meet him. All of this was just a stage the other guy had set up to check him out, to test him and see what kind of character he was.
He could only sigh to himself. Why is it that suddenly everything had gotten so complicated? He wished that he could go back to the times were he had just been some insignificant gang leader with big dreams, but nothing but himself to make them true.
These times had been carefree, uncomplicated times that would never come again. Dan knew that the further he went, the harder it would become to find the peace and the simplicity of these times.
Without any further wait he put his thoughts aside and pushed open the door.
In front of him was a big room, 30 meters long and 20 meters wide, judging by the arrangement of the many tables and chairs in it as well as the dimension of the room it probably was used as a conference room. But this was before, now there were the figures of multiple men in the room. The dim light of the lamps that were hanging on the walls was reflecting in the barrels of the guns and AK’s they were holding.
It were about 10 men, some standing at the sides, their rifles in both hands, while others were just chatting with each other, not seeming to fit into the atmosphere created by the guarded building.
On the side opposite to the door, there was one man sitting on a chair looking down onto the long table and seeming to be in thoughts. As Dan pushed open the door, he suddenly lifted his gaze and a dangerous light glittered in his eyes. His lips curved into a vicious smile.
The guards on the sides as well as the chatting men naturally also noticed the opening of the door and instantly almost a dozen weapons were aimed at Dan who was standing in the door. He didn't seem to notice the men around him and the weapons aimed at his body, ready to riddle him full of holes. His gaze was completely focused on the men on the other side of the room.
Other than their increase in power, speed and mental capabilities there was one additional thing that cultivators were able to do. They were able to determine another person's cultivation level and stage. They could see it with their eyes. It was like a halo surrounding each cultivator and that became brighter the further they cultivated.
A normal person wouldn't shine at all, while a level one cultivator would have a light shine to him. Further than this the shine would turn into a glow that would become brighter and brighter the higher the level of the person was.
The people around Dan only radiated a faint glow in his eyes, with only a few of them being a bit brighter. They were only level one, or at most level two cultivators, nothing special. As for the man sitting opposing to Dan, he was like a bright light in the darkness. The halo surrounding him was multiple times brighter than the other men’s and Dan could clearly tell that the halo surrounding him was about the same as the man's.
"So you are the new guy from Death crown?!"
Dan said, more confirming then asking.
"And you are the supreme level three leader of Emperor’s Rule Dan, right?"
The vicious smile only became even colder as the man spoke to Dan.
The men around them were shocked. This was Dan? The man in front of them was Dan, the leader of Emperor’s Rule? Wasn't this a bit too overwhelming of a situation?
Fear reflected in their eyes as the stared at Dan. There were many stories about Dan and the fights he had fought with other factions and each was horrifying to hear. Men were killed, head's fell from the sky and blood rained like water.
Confronted with a famou-, no infamous figure like Dan, who had a long history in Surn city, how couldn't they become nervous and even fear for their lives?
The grips on their weapons only tightened as they were unsure what to do. If they just waited until Dan started moving and slaughtered them like pigs there was no way for them to survive, but even if they started firing at him now, could they really hit him?
Desperation was visible in their faces. No matter what they did, wouldn't it just end in their death?
The other expert that was still peaking with Dan, noticed the situation.
"Fools, put down your freaking weapons! You wouldn't achieve anything anyway."
Viciously he added.
"Also even if he doesn't kill you for attacking him, I certainly will. He is mine and not someone you could dream about fighting."
The men looked to their boss, shaken by the viciousness he displayed. But in the end they only hesitated for a second before putting down their weapons. It was a fact, Dan was not someone they could even hope to contend against.
The sound of weapons falling to the ground filled the room.
