You didn't save her.
You watched her bleed out, getting one last look at you.
Your final view of her is a shot in the throat, her life force draining.
You want that?
You want to see that again?
The rain was getting worse. I could see the ground sizzle as I step in from house to house, trying to avoid as much as I can. I heard my radio go off, it's Kyle.
"Dopeman! Come in, Dopeman! Downtown isn't safe. We have to evacuate, now. The rain will intensify, It's already unsafe to even be where you are right now!"
I pick my radio up. "That's all the more reason to hurry. Dopeman out." I shut off the radio. I don't need any reminders of my mistake.
I shut off the television. I don't need any reminders of my mistake.
"Crack cocaine, commonly known simply as crack, and also known as dope, is a free base form of cocaine that can be smoked. Crack offers a short, intense high to smokers. The Manual of Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment calls it the most addictive form of cocaine."
"The crack epidemic claims another life in San Francisco. He was only 21-"
"Crack deal goes wrong in downtown San Francisco, leaving 3 dead."
I didn't have time to be safe. I ignoring the burning pain and ran across the sand-built bridge to downtown. It was chaos. The pocket of violence as lightning and thunder made the atmosphere more intense. The tribe was slaughtering Miller Corps. They had better tolerance to the pain of the Angel Waste-infused rain. I had to help. I ran toward the action, loading my regular slugs. I had to ignore my skin crying for help. Then again, all I've ever done was ignore.
All I've ever done was ignore.

"Crack first saw widespread use as a recreational drug in primarily impoverished neighborhoods in New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami..."
"My baby was too young! He was gonna be a basketball player, he was already in the draft!"
"It's been a problem for a while, it's just a lot of dealers around here. It's a profitable market."
I charged into the fight, shooting the first guy I see, blowing his head off. The rest of the army sees me and tries to get revenge. I dodge, but my bad left shoulder continues to be a problem. I couldn't properly roll into cover, causing me to get a shot in the left ankle. I yelled in pain, but I had to push on. I got my SMG and shot at the two guys charging at me. I shot at three more before reloading. As I got my clip in, A man with a large machete slashed at me. I was cut badly in the side, but I moved out the way fast enough before he could do worse. I made my arm blade appear to cut him to pieces. I stood up, seeing Miller Corps was regaining momentum. Good. Before I could celebrate, Lightning struck near me, causing me to fall over. The combination of my blood loss and the tons of pain from the rain was too much. I held my side as I crawled into a nearby house, looking at the battle through a window. My vision was blurring.
"Reports are saying out of the 45 percent of Americans addicted to crack cocaine, 15 percent comes from San Francisco alone."
"It's bad out here, man. These kids gotta go home to their dads and moms on that stuff."
"I can't believe that these people that look like us can just sell this. You ruin our community for years, for what?"
Yeah, for what?
I couldn't see much...
I saw a man with a familiar face walk inside...
"Dopeman!" He cried. It was Fisher. The man I tried to save.
Was I going to fail? Again?
