《Development of hamster space civilization [Space strategy]》Chapter 15. New religion

A month later
Many ka'shog's warriors hid in the jungle, beside the narrow path. They waited for the servants of the evil god.
They were going to stop the invaders here. The elders always said that the gods were evil, therefore all ka'shogs must stay away from them.
Each warrior held the best spear of the tribe - with metal tips - in their arms. Each tip was poisoned. Besides, recently all ka'shogs had drunk a secret potion that the elders had made. This potion should protect the brave warriors against a trickery of the evil god.
The ka'shogs could already feel the protection, because they felt strong, they felt brave, they felt the desire to fight. No servants of the evil god would scare them!
Soon the warriors heard numerous footsteps, which were coming closer gradually.
That's them! Every ka'shog understood that and exchanged gestures.
They were ready to ambush the servants of the evil god.
A victory will be ours! They were sure, gripping their spears in anticipation.
Soon the warriors saw their enemies which looked like plump and clumsy creatures. These creatures chatted and laughed while eating some food cheerfully. They had even walked funny and lazy.
Are they our enemy? Many were confused, but the signal “Attack” was given by the elder warrior.
The ka'shogs ambushed the enemy. Each one was eager to kill some servants of the evil god, but unexpectedly it turned out that the funny-looking creatures were good and disciplined warriors. Besides, they had magical weapons that hissed loudly and spat acid at the ka'shogs' warriors. That acid was dreadful. It ate away huge pieces of bodies. Many screamed, dying in agony. As well, the enemy had magical armors that protected their bodies well against spears' strikes. No strike had achieved its goal.
The fight lasted less than a minute, and the ka'shogs' will to fight had been crushed. As a result, the remnants of ka'shogs' warriors ran away somewhere in the jungle. Too many were killed today.
Among the servants of the evil god no one had died or been wounded. Later they searched the territory around, checking the bodies of ka'shogs. Unfortunately no one of them survived.

The squad of hamsters – who were the so-called “servants of the evil god” - had gathered all the bodies to burn them.
Soon the mouchi saw as new groups of hamsters came into view; among them walked Sussi and a small group of ka'shogs.
They came up to the gathered bodies.
“It's such a pity to see it,” Dancing with the wind stated.
She looked sad.
“Indeed, my dear, but your people must know the truth,” Sussi said with strong belief in her tone. “Besides, it's our duty to show the right path to your brothers and sisters.”
“I know, Sussi... I know that it's for the better, but it pains me so much,” the female ka'shog answered.

A month ago Dancing with the wind was happy. She was right! The elders lied to them all that time. Seed was a kind god, who wanted to help the ka'shogs.
Dancing with the wind wished to tell the truth to all her people. She wanted her people to begin to serve Seed. He was strong, kind, and generous. The female ka'shog had seen as good the mouchi lived in their prosperous settlement. She saw numerous smiling plump children. They had food in great quantity. It was a true paradise. Dancing with the wind wished the same to her people, thus soon she and a large group of hamsters left the main mouchi's settlement and went into the jungle. They moved to the tribe of Dancing with the wind.
The trip was safe. On the way the hamsters killed every predator which tried to attack or ambush the expedition. It only proved the might and kindness of their god, because the mouchi told her that their god had given them those magical weapons and armors.
In a few weeks the expedition had found the tribe of Dancing with the wind. It was a large settlement for the jungle: almost two hundred ka'shogs lived there.
A coming of the group of armed hamsters caused commotion. The ka'shog's warriors took weapons and gathered together as the women and children hid behind them. The elders of the tribe stood in front of them.

The hamsters came closer. Dancing with the wind and Sussi stepped out.
“I've returned.” the female ka'shod said.
“We see that, Dancing with the wind. It's wrong. You must go away,” one of the elders replied. “And who are those creatures behind you?”
“No, I will not go away! I've come to tell the truth,” the female ka'shog turned her gaze to the members of the tribe. “I was right! The elders lied to us for too long! It's time to end their lie! Listen to me, my brothers and sisters! The gods aren't, and they have never been evil to our people!”
Dancing with the wind eyed the elders. “Do you ask me who are these creatures behind me? They are the servants of Seed: the mighty kind and generous god!”
This statement scared the ka'shogs. For generations they knew that the gods were evil beings.
“Don't be afraid, my brothers and sisters! They aren't evil! Ask them about their creator! Ask them if he is good or bad! And you will understand that our elders lied to us!”
“Dancing with the wind, you have brought the servants of the evil god to us?! How did you dare to do that?!”
Both sides began to argue. It lasted for a long time until a fight broke out unexpectedly. As a result, the elders were killed by the hamsters. Fortunately, other ka'shogs were alive; as well, they weren't harmed.
All ka'shogs were shocked. The elders were ever respected and untouchable persons in their society.
The hamsters stayed in the tribe for some time. At first the ka'shogs were scared, but the mouchi killed all dangerous predators in the vicinity of the tribe and shared food with the ka'shogs. They also were friendly and helped to build some new buildings.
The ka'shogs had realized that the hamsters weren't evil. No, they were kind. The children were fond of fluffy creatures, who looked funny.
No, they aren't evil. The elders lied to us. The elders were evil, The tribe concluded soon.
From that moment a crusade began. The mouchi had brought a new religion in the jungle.

Dancing with the wind looked for the last time on the burning bodies of the dead ka'shogs and said with determination in her tone. “Yes, Sussi. You are right. It's our duty to show the right path to my kin.”
All ka'shogs must learn the truth and serve the kind god, Dancing with the wind decided. We need to bring the rest of the evil elders down.
Soon the hamsters continued their movement in the jungle. A small group of ka'shog went with them. There were some small ka'shog settlements on their way.
Sussi walked happily. She was eager to share her belief with others.

In the vicinity of planet Ka'tak
The spacecraft “Sonora'' was leaving Ka'tak. Clarissa was aboard. She was glad, because her visit to the green planet was profitable. The woman had managed to recruit three hundred young and strong mouchi and signed the contract that the planet would be supplying her mercenary company with recruits. Besides, the authority of Ka'tak suggested “Brave guys” to establish a military training ground on the planet for a long period of time. As well, the price was very cheap. This proposition looked good. Clarissa decided to think it over with her uncle.
The leader of “Brave guys” looked over her proposals for jobs. The most interesting was a defense of the trading city-station against a possible pirate attack. The employer offered to defend one of the landing zones inside the city-station.
It's risky but acceptable. Besides, they pay a lot, Clarissa thought.
She discussed this job proposal with her uncle, and only then she accepted the offer.

Marrow
Marrow was old... older than me or you. Older than the nation he lived in. And older than anyone he knew. Which is not surprising, because he did not know anyone else. He had been sitting, or perhaps leaning is the more apt expression, in a closet for many, many years, and had done nothing but stare. But eating, or rather chewing, a spider opened up another world to him. A world with a voice that was talking to him - to HIM! Marrow did not get what the voice was saying, but that was secondary at this point. And Marrow started to feel restless. Nuff said. If you like a sometimes quirky skeleton as the main character and want to ride along for its coming of age, or perhaps rather coming of sapience story... give it a shot. It is a litrpg context with skills, levels, heroes and monsters... and a skeleton. Not sure yet how fast the skeleton will level... we'll have to wait and see. As a disclaimer... this is my secondary novel... my main story is ongoing and most of my time is dedicated to that. As such, new chapters will, at first, be rather infrequent and irregular. If things go well, I may shift more attention to the story, but we shall see how things go.

Can the human race of steel and fire stand against the creatures created by the most ancient of powers? "I get the feeling this story might be one of those 'diamonds in the rough'. The premise is quite solid, there's plenty of room to flesh out the characters. It's quite easy to get into and be engaged by at the moment, imo. I don't know where the story will go from here, but it's off to a good start me thinks." - Xenower Attribution: The cave picture in the book cover is made by Stanislav Sedov and is licensed under CC-BY-SA-2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/ This picture was modified from the original with an overlaid moon and sea picture to be found at https://www.flickr.com/photos/ssedov/26342569905 The photographer has no affiliation to Tschallacka nor can be held accountable for the use of this picture the way as it is here.
