《Sovereign Immortal (Technically not cancelled?)》Chapter 10. Four Tests, The Mind-Heart, The Physique, The Spirit-Soul and Essence (Part Two)

A FEW MONTHS AGO
Before Tang Xuan's untimely withdrawal, he mentioned a few things to Zhou Ye.
One such thing was the Everlasting Sovereign, as for the ragged old man who could manipulate objects and cause them to levitate, Tang Xuan didn't bother to tell Zhou Ye about it.
How rare was the ability that the ragged old man exhibited? Even in the vast amount of Mortal Worlds, finding a single practitioner would be beyond hard, out of the limitless numbers of the Mortal Worlds, there would only be one in a million and in most cases one in a billion.
This was because those with the ability that the ragged old man had, were people that generally were more likely to ascend than their peers!
But Celestial Origin exhibited even greater powers and Tang Xuan didn't feel that the power of the ragged old man would even be remotely useful.
As for the Everlasting Sovereign, Tang Xuan just talked about him as an insignificant figure, the Everlasting Sovereign was actually a True Sovereign, but no one actually addressed him as such.
His power was greater than a Lesser Sovereign, but in comparison to Tang Xuan, he simply couldn't compare.
There would only be one True Sovereign every Era, but Tang Xuan then got angry that his dream position was taken, but it eventually subsided due to his acceptance of it.
When Tang Xuan raged against the Heavens and the Sovereign Realm, he initiated Celestial Origin to the highest degree and became an existence comparable to the Celestial Emperor.
Alas when he opened the clouds and went through, he was pushed down after defeating several True Sovereigns which had actually lived there.
Just before his fall, he saw upon countless Celestials, of the countless, each of them was slightly bowing and kneeling but didn't do anything to help.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BACK TO NORMAL TIME
The surroundings of Zhou Ye were covered by a golden indescribable light, the lofty expressed young man showed a look of distress.
The face of Zhou Ye then became a mixture of his own and that of Tang Xuan's, once again the Soul of Tang Xuan moved a slight bit but didn't do anything more.
Celestial Origin wasn't a cultivation Method, it was the Method of becoming a Celestial, Cultivators and Celestials were quite similar at the early stages, but as they went on they were different.
Gods and Celestials were however very similar even at later stages and that was why Zhou Ye used his Senior brother's technique on the steps of Godhood.
Zhou Ye's body and face were no longer young, whilst to Cultivators youth with power indicated greatness, Celestials were entities which held wisdom beyond countless years and preferred to keep the appearance of a wild sage.

Also if Cultivators and Celestials had however exchanged life force, it would clearly be seen that even the weakest Celestials would have greater life force than any Immortal under the level of a Supreme Tier Immortal.
Befitting Zhou Ye wasn't the aura of an Emperor, it was the aura of a wise sage, whose words could lead Empires into disarray and cause Emperors to be victorious in every battle.
The woodcutter was now a fisherman, he looked back and saw the countless lights, he moved on closer and closer and before he knew it, he saw upon the face of Zhou Ye which had a striking resemblance to Tang Xuan's.
He stopped in his tracks and went back after seeing the face, in the distance, the painting by Yuan Li had started to resonate and something within the Holy Illumination Empire also resonated.
The lofty expressed man then looked and said "No.... They all died out, only he could do such a feat, perhaps his disciples!".
Zhou Ye then replied "Enough" with his hand in the air as he pointed to the sun. Suddenly everything disappeared starting from the sun and the World was reverted back. Zhou Ye's faced and body also returned to their youthful looks.
At the same time, a feeling of suppression came on to him for a split second, it came from somewhere far away and was obviously not anyone within a few feet.
(Light was covering the sun)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was as if nothing had changed, Zhou Ye was back, but Yan Mo was still falling, Zhou Ye quickly withdrew his hand and attempted to move back, but he felt restricted.
As for Yan Mo, he thought that it was Zhou Ye who had caused the burning in his chest, but he wasn't stupid enough to just believe it on that assumption.
The old man that came with Wu Lin, however, thought very differently, he decided to restrict Zhou Ye, but Yan Mo was still falling, as he was he attempted to avoid Zhou Ye, but at the same time, the old man had actually caused Zhou Ye to move forward.
When Zhou Ye felt this, he noticed that this restriction was very different to the suppression he felt, the two things were clearly done by two different people.
Zhou Ye could only move forward if he relied on the special reserves, his own power was yet enough to do anything, other than cursing in his heart to whomever that was doing it, he didn't do anything.
Yan Mo actually ended up landing on Zhou Ye's shoulders, when Zhou Ye did so, he was quite surprised.

"How tough are these shoulders?", Yan Mo was thinking of how they could be so though, it was unheard of for him for someone like Zhou Ye who was a mere Spirit Acolyte.
But Zhou Ye's Soul practised Celestial Origin, his body his as well, but it that was more of a mix between the two.
The old man then made Zhou Ye move forward, but Zhou Ye decided to resist at this point, Zhou Ye moved both forward and backwards, as Yan Mo went to jump forwards, he actually moved backwards.
He slipped on Zhou Ye's shoulders......
Going back, he landed on his back, it was very awkward, he didn't try too hard to keep a firm position when on Zhou Ye's shoulders as he felt it would be disrespectful if he pushed on too hard.
But he actually slipped and fell to the looks of everyone, some were giggling, but none dared to laugh, they all thought that Yan Mo was a high-level figure.
As Zhou Ye came to help Yan Mo back up, several guards came and prevented Zhou Ye from coming close, but Yan Mo told them to go away instead.
The old man that came with Wu Lin was just about to make a move, but all of a sudden he could feel that he was being suppressed by something that was very close....
Yan Mo didn't' know what to say, he simply looked at Zhou Ye and then walked away, at the same time as the wind moved, Zhou Ye quickly disappeared.
Yan Mo was slightly amazed to the speed, suddenly a voice was heard, "Nothing to be seen here! The tests will begin now! Go head to the buildings!".
There were a few whispers, the tests weren't meant to begin until at least another hour, it was clear that it was beginning now to try and hide what just happened.
A few people saw Zhou Ye's face, only Yan Mo and the old man could properly get a good look, the few people that did see Zhou Ye's face would likely on feel a slight resemblance.
The old man that came with Wu Lin stayed still and wondered where the suppression was coming from...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During all this, there was a ragged old man in a certain room, the room was located as it was before, in the Spiritual Capacity Building.
Heavenly Sense or Spiritual Capacity wasn't a born ability, it was one that had to be forged by those with a heart that could go through several cycles of life.
But surprisingly in the Mortal World, there were actually many people that had Heavenly Sense or Spiritual Capacity. Indeed there was a one in a million or one in a billion Worlds for there to be someone with such powers.
There were limitless Worlds.... Some worlds may even only have people with the Heavenly Sense! Others may from their beginning to their end have not a single one with Heavenly sense....
Next to the ragged old man was a middle-aged man, he laughed a bit as he said: "Hahaha, some Elder from the Lightning Hall Sect wants me to start the test early!".
The ragged old man replied "Brother Chen, why don't you just decline him? Aren't you rich enough that he won't bribe you? They say your wealthy enough to ignore all bribes?".
The middle aged man then replied, "Of course, that's why I'm called Chen Fu, but then almost all of the Elders from the Lightning Hall came and bugged me, there was also a stingy old man that came with that Wu Lin that told me to as well!".
The ragged old man then replied "How strange....." Chen Fu the middle aged man then replied, "Indeed it is, I must go now Elder Li, I will report back later".
The way the two talked to each other was how a subordinate and superior would talk to each other, but the way they said it betrayed that idea.
They talked as if they were very close, it felt more like a talk between brothers that would simply address one as higher than the other, but at the same time ignoring that one was higher than the other.
The ragged old man's full name was Li Deshi and he had the job of managing the Spiritual Capacity Test, he only came because he was bored and wished to find out more about Yuan Li.
He was quite bored, but a few minutes ago, he noticed something... Time had frozen about a few minutes ago and had gone normal again. He couldn't act in that time, but as soon as it happened, he managed to lock on both Zhou Ye and Yan Mo.
When the old man that came with Wu Lin tried to make a move he was suppressed, who else could it be that suppressed him?
Li Deshi had done a very small Heavenly Sense lock, it was very small, but he was confident it couldn't be destroyed by someone like Zhou Ye or another.

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.

(Please note, this is dressed up actual play from my testing of a tabletop RPG. It is actually how the game has gone and there is a very real chance that anyone, including Sylvester, could die in any encounter. To help make my job easier I am using dungeons written by other people, which is why I have listed this as a fanfiction. I put links to all of them in the chapters where they are relevant.)
