《Fate Of The Swordsmen》Chapter 28: War Preparations

First thing in the morning everyone was called out of the city into the general's tent. The general was in his mid-fifties. He had short gray hair with no beard. Bwoire’s unit was the last to arrive. “General Zavious I presume?” asked Bwoire. “We’ve met before Bwoire, though I suspect you wouldn’t remember me since I was a fresh raced recruit in those days” General Zavious had a rough voice, it was like sandpaper.
Calmantos waved them over “You’ve met my unit. There are three other units you should meet.” He called over the second unit. A man who was about five foot five approached. He had short auburn hair and a goatee, he looked to be in his late twenties or early thirties. “My name is Hawk, it is a pleasure to meet you.” Falcon shook his hand first, he knows the significance behind his name. Orphans in the order were named after birds. “Falcon,” he said briefly.
A tall woman approached, she was six foot three. She had long black hair and a scar on her forehead. She also looked to be in her late twenties or early thirties “Miri Teldril, at your service.” Ithilious yelled “She’s so beautiful. Hey Miri, do you want to get a room after this meeting is over?” Amma kicked Ithilious in the face. “Sorry about my brother, he’s a bit of a pig.”
A man in his late forties or early fifties came up next to introduce himself. He had blonde hair and a long beard. He was laughing hysterically. “That’s the worst pickup line I think I’ve ever heard!” Once he settled down he introduced himself. “Fendris Findal, at your service.” Right after a man approached, he looked faintly familiar. He was quite pale, had messy auburn hair and a scar covering his left eye.
“Zenzo Hitori, squad Captain at your service. It seems you’ve grown up Anarion.” Anarion raised an eyebrow, he couldn’t quite place where he knew this man from. “I was apart of your brother's squad, I was also mentored by Bwoire.” Anarion shook his hand. Everyone on Bwoire’s squad introduced themselves.
The third squad came in. He recognized everyone in it. A woman from the squad approached Anarion. She looked to be in her mid-thirties. He knew exactly who she was. She had long black hair and a slender figure. She moaned in a way that sounded quite erotic which disturbed Anarion quite a bit “Bela, long time no see.” said Anarion. Amma looked at Anarion “You know this woman?” Before Anarion could answer she said “His brother and I spent quite a bit of time in the bedroom. But my goodness Anarion, you’ve grown into quite the man.”

Amma was ready to strangle Bela. Anarion raised his hands “Bela, can you not flirt with me? You were like a mother figure to me, it’s a bit creepy.” Bela looked shocked and hurt at the same time. “Most men your age would want a woman with my experience.” Anarion said, “I’m good, really though, thanks.” A man appeared behind her, Anarion recognized him. He had short red hair and a goatee. He had been in the same squad as Aenos along with Bela and Zenzo. He was the same age as Bela. “Bela, are you forgetting about me?” He wrapped his arm around her shoulders. “Minas Ren, this is Bela Uthir as you all know. Please excuse her, when she wants something she tends to go for it despite who she’s currently with.”
Minas looked at Anarion “So it is you. Little Anarion in the flesh, all grown up.” He gave Anarion a good look “Damn you're a tall one. What did they feed you at that academy?” Before Anarion could reply another familiar figure approached. This one everyone recognized from the academy. “You have not forgotten about me? Cane Zelados at your service.”
Cane was in his mid-twenties, he had a blonde mohawk and no facial hair. “It’s been a while,” said Falcon. He looked up to Cane in the academy. “Falcon, it’s good to see you.” The final person in Unit 3 approached. Anarion knew him, though he had not seen him since he was a child.
He was sixty years old. He had no hair on his head or face what so ever. “Arithor Ragnor at your service.” Anarion nodded “Uncle, it’s nice to see you again.” Everyone looked at Anarion like he was about to flip out, but he kept his cool.
The final group everyone recognized. They were two years ahead of everyone. Jaron Or, a polite soft-spoken man with short black hair. Vanessa Kiri, she was considerably short at four foot eleven. She had long blonde hair and a fierce look on her face. Amma and Ithilious’s cousin, Igar Shadowsbane. One person was missing from the group. “What happened to Fenrir?” asked Amma.
Jaron started to tear up. Vanessa let out a sigh “He didn’t make it. He died three months ago during a mission.” Vanessa hit Jaron “Suck it up, your supposed to be a man.” Everyone was disheartened to hear that a well-known figure of their academy days had passed away. The Captain of the group approached. He had long Auburn hair and a short beard. “Griffith Yendir, at your service.”

Suddenly General Zavious said, “With introductions out of the way, let’s get this meeting started.” Everyone took a seat. “With Holsten properly fortified we can begin this war soon. My scouts have properly surveyed all of Rotal while Bwoire’s unit was training. There are five massive power structures in Rotal. There is a fortress at the North, South, East, and West. The primary fortress is in the center of all Rotal.”
“The four minor fortresses house most of Rotals power. There are approximately one hundred thousand battle-trained Oren in these fortresses. If unleashed upon Terath we’d be in massive trouble. The center fortress contains two hundred and fifty thousand battle-trained Oren. My scouts also spotted an Oren with a black blade.”
“This is the plan of action. I have numbered all of your units, so please remember your unit number. Unit one is lead by Calmantos. Unit two is lead by Zenzo. Unit three is our strongest unit, with all members being first rank and above. Unit three belongs to Arithor. Unit four belongs to Griffith and Unit five belongs to Bwoire. Are we all learn on what unit you are in?”
Everyone nodded in reply. “Unit three will serve as the backup unit in case you run into any trouble. Before we go there are a handful of Irium shards, attune your chi to each and you’ll be able to communicate on the battlefield. Unit five is going to go for the Northern Fortress. Meanwhile Units one, two, and four will proceed through all of the villages dotted around the Northern Fortress, killing all Warriors.”
“We are not monsters, no killing children or innocents. Our job is to extinguish their military might and seize control of Rotal. Once the northern stronghold is destroyed units one and five will proceed to the eastern stronghold while units two and four will take out the western stronghold. Unit three will be on village duty, they will split up. Bela and Minas will go east. Cane and Artithor will go West.”
“Once the eastern fortress is taken out units one and five will take out the southern fortress. Once this is done units two, three, and four will regroup for a frontal assault on the central fortress. Units one and five will flank from the back. However, they are the special assassination unit in this case. Don’t worry about common soldiers, you are to find any Oren who is trained as swordsmen and kill them. Let the other units handle the primary assault.”
Bwoire raised his hand. “You are putting a lot of responsibility on my unit. They are going to be apart of four out of five fortress assaults. I personally think this is reckless. They just became full-fledged swordsmen.” General Zavious replied, “They are taking the bulk of the work because your council wants to see what Anarion is capable of, which is exactly why unit one will be with you while you assassinate the oren swordsmen.”
Bwoire glared at his father. He looked seriously back at Bwoire. “His true potential needs to be ascertained. The council picked you for a reason, do your job.” Bwoire stood up “What about the rest of them? Are Amma, Falcon, and Ithilious just food for the machine? What if they get killed?” Calmantos sighed “If you trained them properly, they should be fine.”
Bwoire was fuming. Anarion looked at Bwoire “Calm down, we’ll be fine.” Bwoire yelled, “I expected you to be pissed off about this, they are just trying to compare your strength and potential to Aenos.” Ithilious remarked “You’ve been less moody lately Anarion, I expected you to be pissed off about this as well. You’ve always been hostile when someone even brings up your brother.”
“I’ve had time to reflect on the person I am. Sure I despise Aenos, but I’ll do what I have to do. The safety of Terath and Holsten is more important than a personal grudge.” Amma looked on with a shining admiration. General Zavious continued “If there are no further objections, you will depart early tomorrow morning.”
Everyone departed to prepare for the war against Rotal.

8 134Fantasy World
Spencer Underwood has little realistic hope of escaping his paraplegic, bullied, and friendless high school existence. At least until he and three classmates are unrealistically transported to Nibiru, a legendary fantasy world ruled by mythological gods and inhabited by strange races and nightmarish monsters. Spence can walk again, which is good considering he will have to use his online fantasy role-playing game experience to lead the dysfunctional party on the gods’ quest and summon the courage to finally stand up to Trey, his worst bully from school. Success means survival and earning respect and acceptance, especially from Morgan, his attractive but snarky Goth classmate. But Spence discovers Nibiru is more a world of science fiction than fantasy, and they are just unwitting pawns in a deadly scheme of the gods. If completing the quest doesn’t result in their return to Earth, the party may have to do the unthinkable and challenge the gods themselves. (The novel is complete at 56 chapters, so feel free to jump in without fear of it fizzling out in a premature demise.)
