《Fate Of The Swordsmen》Chapter 23: Selfless

A week had passed and Anarion was training later than usual. He wanted desperately to increase the strength of his ice elestran. The sun was starting to set when Tycondris came to visit Anarion. “Still at it kid? You are missing dinner.” Anarion sighed. “I guess I’ll come back.” Anarion shattered the ice he made with his fist, then began walking to the gate with Tycondris.

Once they were a few feet from the gate a rumbling noise could be heard. “What the hell is that?” asked Anarion to Tycondris. He shrugged his shoulders. “I’m not sure, maybe a small earthquake.” Anarion looked out towards the field he had just been training in. He could see a mass of bodies hurrying their way. Through a glimpse of the rising sun, Anarion could see what was happening. It was an Oren invasion. Through a guesstimate, there were at least ten thousand of them.

There were so many. If he went to get the others, they would surely breakthrough in a matter of seconds. Anarion did what he had to do. He shoved Tycondris past the gate with a single hand. The shove lifted him off his feet and sent him twenty feet backward into town. He raised his hand, he erected a massive five hundred foot wall made out of thick ice that surrounded the entire village.

Anarion went to unsheath his Katana, it wasn’t there. He suddenly remembered leaving it in his room. The army was almost upon him, With the chi, he had he formed a solid blade out of ice. They were one hundred feet away when Anarion charged into the group without a care for his own well being. He pushed through the army as fast as he could hacking away at the Oren.

Tycondris ran to the inn as fast as he could. They were already outside and moving towards the gate. “What’s happening?” asked Bwoire hurriedly. “Oren, at least ten thousand of them.” Bwoire looked at Tycondris with an expression of shock and horror. “Where is Anarion!” he yelled. “He pushed me through the gate and made the wall, he’s just outside of town!” Amma picked up her pace, running as fast as she could to the gate.

Anarion at this point had already suffered several wounds and had a sword sticking out of his knee. His wounds oozed and gushed blood, a lot of the cuts were bone-deep, but thankfully he had not lost a part of himself. Without any pause or worry for his own safety, he continued to plow through the army cutting them down with ferocious speed. He was like a demon without pause.

More wounds began showing up on Anarion’s body, he had been stabbed through his right shoulder, he had been cut several more times. He had avoided any fatal wounds but the blood loss was starting to become a massive problem.

Meanwhile, the group arrived at the gate. Amma shot a massive blast of fire at the wall but it was not melting. “Are you kidding me!” she yelled. Amma began pouring all of her Chi into melting at least a small portion of the wall big enough so they could get through. Blood was splattering against the wall, the icy color was turning blood red.

Anarion had made a considerable dent in the enemy forces, they began to lose moral but the one commanding them stepped in to fight Anarion. A massive spike of metal flew his way, he was barely able to dodge it. This was Elestran, coming from an Oren. Anarion continued dodging the massive spikes the best he could while cutting down any and all Oren in his path.

Amma was slowly starting to burn through the ice. Bwoire was amazed Anarion could make such an ice wall. Finally, the fire burst through, just then, and there Anarion cut down the Oren who had been using Elestran.

All of the Oren were dead. The battlefield was littered with the corpses of dismembered Oren. The sun had finished setting. Now that the battle was over, Anarion collapsed to the floor face first. He was covered in head to toe in blood. He was also losing blood at an extremely fast rate. Bwoire picked Anarion up in a hurry and began rushing to the only Doctor in the village.

Bwoire kicked open his door and put Anarion down on a hospital bed. The room was white and sterile, with tiled floors, multiple cabinets, and two beds. The doctor also used his house as an apartment. He came rushing out in a fit of rage. “What the hell is with all of this racket!” The doctor was in his sixties, he had a shaved head and a well-trimmed beard. He gasped in horror when he saw Anarion. “He’s dying,” said Bwoire. “Quick you have to do something.” The doctor took a quick glance at Anarion. Amma, Falcon, Ithilious, and Tycondris rushed in.

The doctor handed everyone any form of cloth he could find. He cut Anarion’s Ghee off. “Clean off all the blood you can, I need to see what I’m doing.” The group proceeded to quickly clean as much blood off Anarion as they could, but a lot was pouring out. Amma was doing her best to stay calm in this situation. The sight of Anarion like this shook her to the very core.

While they were doing this the doctor cleaned his hands and put on a pair of surgical gloves. Moving as possible for his age he took a closer look. “He’s going to bleed to death before I can close up the major wounds. We need blood and fast. Tycondris yelled, “He’s ab-, so am I!” The doctor replied, great, have a seat.”

The doctor moving as fast as he could said “Blonde kid, we need more blood donors.” Ithilious ran out to find some. “Girl there are needles in the cabinet at the north side of the room in the middle drawer and empty bags in the one below it. There is a reserve of ab- blood in the freezer in my apartment, make sure you pick the right one. I need you to make sure he’s getting the blood he needs.” Amma hurried off to get the blood first.

“Point eared fellow and black-haired man. You are going continue to clean up as much blood as you can with the leftover cloth, I need to see what I am doing. Once I am done with the severe wounds on the front of his body we’ll handle the ones on his back.

Bwoire and Falcon didn’t speak but continued cleaning up as much of the blood they could with the cloth. Amma came in with a handful of bags. She prepared a needle. “You need to inject the blood into his carotid artery in the neck.” Amma quickly did so and hung the bag. She then began drawing blood from Tycondris. “This kid is lucky, not an artery was cut, nor did he receive a single slash to his stomach. A normal person would be long dead by now, it’s a miracle he’s still even breathing.”

Ithilious came bursting into the building with two people from the village who had ab- blood. “These are the only people who are ab-” The doctor didn’t speak, but began speeding up while Amma started draining blood from the volunteers. The doctor was quite skilled, he closed one wound after the other with incredible speed.

“Should I remove the sword from his knee?” asked Falcon. The Doctor said in a sharp tone “No, just be mindful of it while we are turning him on his side. Bwoire and Falcon carefully turned Anarion on to his left side, there were a few serious wounds to take care of. “How much blood do we have?” Amma answered, “We only have six left, I drained the others as much as I could without killing them.”

“I better pick up speed.” The doctor moved as fast as he could to close up the more serious wounds, by the time there was one bag left he was done. The Doctor wiped the sweat off his face. “He should be out of the woods now.”

Everyone breathed a huge sigh of relief while the Doctor tended to the less than serious wounds. “It’s a miracle he’s still alive, any other man would have left with the world with even one-tenth of his wounds.” Amma smiled. “Thank you, Doctor, you are a lifesaver.” The Doctor smiled “We all contributed to saving this man’s life, though it was at the cost of a door.”

Bwoire and Falcon were still helping the Doctor, Bwoire looked somewhat embarrassed about the door. “What’s your name Doc?” asked Ithilious. “Herman Godfrey,” he replied. Everyone introduced themselves. It took hours to finish stitching Anarion’s wounds. After he finished Herman slowly removed the sword. “I can probably fix this, but not tonight, I am rather exhausted from all this. I’ll fix up the outer damage for now.”

Herman closed the wound on his knee, then retired for a night of proper sleep.
