《Fate Of The Swordsmen》Chapter 8: Forad Tavern

Anarion stepped on the ferry to Forad, he was ready to leave more than anyone else. With only the five of them on board the ferry they set sail to Forad, it would take about six hours. The ride was quite easy, they arrived by afternoon.
“We are finally here!” exclaimed Amma. “Can we visit the local tavern? I would love to try the fish here since this is the main trading and fishing hub in Terath.” Bwoire nodded. “I need to arrange our ferry, we will likely be spending a day or two here. I know a good place.”
Amma cheered excitedly. Ithilious exclaimed “I can finally drink! I’m going to have my first ale here!” Falcon sighed. “Booze dulls the senses, no matter where we are you should always have your wits about you.” Ithilious glared at Falcon “I’m going to drink my fill, damned the consequences.”
Bwoire's eyes suddenly lit up. "Oh, right." He pulled out four coin purses from his pack. "This is your first pay. Even though you are students, the council is going to pay you for your first two years to ensure you have room and board. This has to last you two years.”
Bwoire handed them off. Amma and Ithilious's eyes lit up. "Financial freedom!" they both said excitedly. Bwoire sighed. "Two years, this has to last you for two years. Don't drink it away Ithilious." Anarion, Falcon, and Amma put hid their wealth away inside of their packs. Ithilious stuffed his wealth into a pocket.
“This way”, said Bwoire. He leads them through the city to a back alley which housed a particularly rowdy tavern. Two men were fist fighting outside, a small crowd cheered them on as they continued to pummel each other. Amma piped up “This doesn’t look like a nice place.” Bwoire looked at Amma and said, “You’ll be fine, your armed and trained.” She looked to the Katana sheathed at her side.
Upon walking in there was a counter to the right. Bwoire said, “Talk to her about your room.” She was an older lady, with long gray hair and many wrinkles. “Bwoire, it’s good to see you again! Oh my, how many years has it been?” Bwoire smiled at the old lady and replied “Ten years Hulda, take care of my subordinates. They will be staying the night.”

"Oh, what happened to that young fella that you had with you. He was so nice and very cute." Bwoire looked at Anarion, then looked at Hulda "He's at the academy right now, you may seem him here before he head's back to the war." Hulda smiled "I hope he'll be okay, those Xalnog are scary." Bwoire did not want to mention the invasion, especially since they didn't waste Forad before going to the academy.
“They sure are. It’s been nice talking to you again. I’ll stop by later.” said Bwoire. He looked at Anarion. “I would register now. The inn might fill up by nightfall.” Bwoire left, the four registered for one night’s stay. It was quite cheap. Ithilious ran to the first table he could find. Amma sat down next to her brother, Anarion and Falcon reluctantly sat next to each other.
“What can I get ya?” said a young busty barmaid who approached the group as soon as they sat down. “A round for everyone beautiful!” said Ithilious bursting with enthusiasm. Anarion and Falcon sighed. “One drink.” they both said. “Four pints for the handsome men and the beautiful gal.” said the barmaid.
Ithilious was trying to pick up the barmaid. "So, how late do you work?" Amma interrupted Ithilious, "I'll have some fish! Whatever you recommend" She replied, “We have some freshly caught Salmon available?” Amma excitedly said, “I’ll save some of Salmon then.” Anarion and Falcon also ordered the same.
“I’ll be back in a jiffy.” She winked at Falcon. He shifted his gaze away, clearly uncomfortable when it came with flirtatious women. “You bastard! She’s mine!” yelled Ithilious. “Go for it, I don’t give a damn.” Amma looked at Ithilious and punched him in the arm. “Not even here for an hour and you’re trying to pick someone up. Have some decency will you? Women are not objects.”
Ithilious rubbed his arm. "What's your problem. I've been locked up in that academy for ages with a no fraternization rule looming above my head. I'm just trying to fly free for once in my life. Who knows when my next chance will be!" Amma punched him in the arm again. "I don't know you, go die in a fire."

The barmaid brought the pints to the table. Anarion and Falcon’s eyes opened up wide. They had never seen a drink so big. Ithilious tried to turn on the charm again “So, what’s your name?” The barmaid left before she could even hear it. “Son of a bitch!” exclaimed Ithilious. “You're trying too hard,” said Falcon.
Ithilious looked Falcon dead in the eyes. “I’m in the prime of my life. I’ve got to try as hard as I can.” Falcon sighed “How did I end up in this group. The Order must be trying to punish me.” Anarion took a sip of his ale, ignoring Falcon’s rude comment. Ithilious glared at Falcon. “Consider yourself lucky to be in the presence of a true elite.”
Anarion and Amma were trying to ignore the conversation. The barmaid soon returned with three orders of freshly cooked Salmon. She placed down Amma’s plate. There were potatoes and carrots on the side. Amma’s eyes gleamed with excitement. Next, she placed down Anarion’s plate. Lastly, she placed down Falcon’s plate. It had an extra piece of Salmon. She placed her hand on his thigh as she put it down.
It looked like a shock was sent down Falcon’s body. His eyes widened up, his face turned red. She walked back to take other orders but sent him a wink as she turned to face a customer. Ithilious looked angry. “What the hell! Why does she like you?” Falcon shook his head and looked down at his meal, “Hell if I know.” He looked up at Ithilious and retracted his previous statement. “You need to try harder. She seems nice but I’m not interested.”
Amma chuckled. “Falcon is shy around women, I never would have guessed.” Falcon still looking at his food quietly muttered “Shut up.” Anarion was completely ignoring the conversation, he was chowing down. He finished the meal before Amma and Falcon even touched theirs, after he took a big swig from his pant. “Real food! Finally, I can have real fucking food! Not the same bullshit day in and day out!”
Amma laughed. “I’ve never seen you this happy.” Anarion looking at his plate muttered, “Shut up.” Ithilious and Amma looked at both Anarion and Falcon. “You are both so similar, I’m surprised you don’t get along,” said Amma. Anarion slammed his hand on the table. “We are not similar, I dislike people and he has a quivering pussy. There is a big fucking difference!”
Falcon slammed his hand on the table and glared at Anarion. “A quivering pussy? You couldn’t fight your way out of a paper bag you talentless moron!” Anarion stood up. Then Falcon stood up. “I’m not talentless you moron, I just don’t give a fuck. If I trained seriously for a year I could wipe the floor with you!”
Falcon laughed. “You could train for a thousand years and you still could not beat me. Your nothing but a talentless nobody who bitches and moans every time someone mentions your brother.” Suddenly there were people all over the tavern cheering “Fight, fight, fight!”
Both Anarion and Falcon continued to glare at each other. “One year, if you give me one year I’ll be strong enough to kick your ass!” Falcon yelled “Fine, go for it. You won’t win, you’ll never amount to anything!” “Arguing?” All four of them looked towards the person who spoke, it was Bwoire.
Anarion looked at Bwoire. “Yeah, we made a bet. If I train seriously for one year I’ll be able to kick Falcon’s ass.” Bwoire smiled. “Where you are going, yeah I think it’s possible.” Anarion looked at Bwoire cockeyed. “What do you mean? Where am I going?” Bwoire laughed. “You’ll find out. We leave tomorrow at noon. I have our passage booked.”
“What are we doing at Bronze Port?” asked Amma. “You will find out,” said Bwoire. “Cryptic asshole,” said Anarion sitting back down. He finished his pint, then went to the room he paid for, opting to spend the rest of the day in solitude.
