Day 7

It seems hunters are not what I think it is, is my common sense that lacking? Have I really wasted my life studying? Should have I just went with my sister instead of college? Well, enough about that. When I reached the town that those hunters told me about and what I saw defied my common sense once again. I see, if this keeps up I might lose my mind. Li might just accept this without thought though. The number of the bustling wasn’t surprising, rather, the types (or races?) of the people overwhelmed me. For a geek like me, I have a higher tolerance for unknown knowledge and hopes to pursue them, but being slammed with it is whole another thing! Anyway, as the types,

I can see three in this town: humans as majority, dwarves and those people with weird silver skin and horns growing out of their heads are… demons, they say? But I thought demons live in hell or at least they should be there! And they command hellfire and shit! Why’re they here?! Good thing I was able to buy parchment by selling the dismantled rabbit. Apparently, those rabbits are called horned rabbits and I was told I’m pretty agile for catching 16 or them. It earned me 32 silvers in total. The denomination of money here are just called iron, copper, silver and gold coins.

1 iron = 1 dollar

1 copper = 10 irons

1 silver = 10 coppers

1 gold = 10 silvers

It’s annoying that I have to pay 2 silvers just to enter the town but, oh well. I’m a foreigner after all and without immigration papers at that, I should’ve brought my passport. Will it work, though? Then onwards to the next agenda!

My goal this time are:

Register in the hunter’s guild (for identification)

Information (who, what, where)

I need supplies and proper gear

I need more money (just in case)

Go back to the river and look for the others

I just registered in the guild. I was given a rank B license because I beat the guild master. Huh. They said, they should’ve given me an A but the highest they could give was B. And another common sense breaking shit! I’m a friggin’ magician! I mean MAGIC! One of the wonders of the world of fiction. A must have in a fantasy setting! What? What is this? Is this a world transfer novel? Am I a hero destined for greatness?!?!?!?!?

***

Yes, I am calm. My current job title as a hunter is a Rune Knight and my magical aptitudes are: earth, water, wind, fire and light. They also said that my magical aptitude is too OP due to most people only having 1 or 2 aptitudes at best. The guild master recommended that I register in the Magician’s guild as well.

So I went. I chose the alchemist title because I did have a degree in chemistry. There’s also a magic crafter title, might be good once I met with the others. Next is information, to the library!

***

I knew it. Since parchment is already expensive, books even cost a fortune. So now I have to pay each time I enter the library. Your excellency the Marquis? Why would you do this to your citizen? Such an expensive price just to enter! Why would it cost 10 silvers just to enter! At least they give you free parchment.

According to my research this world is called Eorth. Yeah… sounds like a rip off of Earth. It has another title though, ‘The Garden of God’. Is that the garden of Eden? Is it the same?

Next, magic is everywhere! That explains why their technology is so primitive. When I entered the town, the houses are mostly made of bricks covered with a thatched roof. Some of the important government facilities and most buildings in the main street uses clay for their roof. And most can’t afford horses so you can see people pulling carts from outside the city. Can’t complain about the hygiene though, the town is very clean even the stables in the guilds doesn’t smell that bad. The people’s countenance are satisfied and even those other races seems to be happy. It seems the Marquis is doing his job properly.

Now, where was I? Ah, magic! The 4 main elements are also the same as Earth’s classical elements: earth, water, wind and fire. Those are the most common elements that people often use and have the aptitude for. There’s also light and dark, light is often used by the church or the Light God and dark is used by the cult of the Dark God. Geh. What’s with this? Some fight between dark and light? A church and a cult? Don’t tell me a holy crusade might break out.

And finally, where am I? It seems I’m in a town called Turqo, the main town of the Marquis Mastris’ territory. It’s in the kingdom of Eloheim bordering the Meldrid forest where the forest-kin dwells. On the other side of the forest is the Golden kingdom of Aurelis. Aurelis? So redundant! Golden kingdom? Aurelis already sounds like Aurum, gold’s latin name! The hell?

Eloheim’s form of government is aristocracy-based. They have an emperor but they also have a senate like the Greeks? Aurelis on the other hand is a monarchial government. And they call them the Aureate King until the previous generation. Hm? What happened?

I see, after the failed coup from the Ferro nobility, the Argent nobility absorbed the Aurelis royal family who only have women as heirs and a very weak grandson. I see, I see. So much drama. Argent? Ferro? What’s with this! Haha! At least it has a proper trend.

***

I guess that’s it for today. I need to find an inn then earn money through the Hunters Guild. I’ll just look for a proper map for this country and Meldrid forest then I’m done! Good thing I’m good at memorizing stuff. Now, where should I eat afterwards?
