Nothing seemed the same. Gumi could make out some important landmarks here and there, but too many things looked different. Nothing was more obvious than the total lack of people. As she walked down the deserted streets, Gumi didn't speak or even open her mouth. Her vocalizer would soon run out of the Powder of God, and when that moment came her voice would become a whisper. If she didn't find any more powder, she might never speak again.

She headed towards the only place she could think of going—the Concert Hall. It was where she had been onstage with The VocaLords before VioLinja obliterated first her and then her best friend, Miku, sending them both to Hell. A tiny part of Gumi that didn't want to listen to logic hoped Miku might be at the Concert Hall, waiting for Gumi to return. Of course, for that to be true, Miku would have had to have avoided Final Obliteration somehow—the moment when Gumi destroyed the continuum between Hell and Earth in order to escape.
