《Blades of Honor》Chapter Four

JiYeong had never spent much time in Farron. It resided in the Kingdom of Ellshire, which was run by the Elcres clans. Ellshire was a beautiful Kingdom, and Farron was no exception.
Much like Whitewall, Farron boasted being one of the larger cities in Allumia, serving as Ellshire’s capital. It sat between a forest that seemed to be frozen in the early autumn, the trees varying shades of greens, reds and oranges, and a crystal blue lake. Whenever she did choose to visit, it was often in the early mornings, when the sun was just over the horizon. It was when the sun's rays shone on the trees, making the colors vibrant and breathtakingly stunning.
Farron was home to the Archers Guild, since Elcres had a natural talent for both Archery and Animal Husbandry.
Though Zaos had chosen to play as a Zaif, Elcres would have been more beneficial, especially when starting out. It wasn't just the NPCs who were better at Archery. Players who chose that race started with higher stats; more specifically dexterity and accuracy.
Archers weren’t the only thing that made up Farron, though. It was home to a few of Allumia’s smaller sects, such as Leatherworking. Seeing as they were some of the best Hunters the realm had to offer, it only made sense that they were the biggest suppliers of leather, a material used in making armor for classes who didn’t need heavy armor but still needed enough protection that simple cloth wouldn’t give them.
The Guild Hall was one of the medium sized plots that were available in Fallon’s residential district. There were dozens of rooms that the members have for personal use, as well as a kitchen, gathering/living room and basement.
The basement, where they decided to hang out for a while, was decently sized, even having a bar and a couch tucked into a corner near the fireplace.

One benefit to having a Guild Hall was that they could sit in a private area and chat without worrying about conversations from everyone else in the game interrupting. Of course she had her house she could go to as well but Zaos’ Hall was less of a journey for them.
JiYeong made her way behind the bar, deciding to switch to her Culinary class for bit. She was hoping everyone would forget about her use of Shadow Ritual.
Going through her inventory, she picked several berries she got from the dungeons to make a simple fruit salad.
Zaos and Lilia sat on the couch watching as Kit used one of the training dummies for target practice. Kiera picked a seat at the bar, watching her cut the stems off strawberries.
JiYeong: have you decided on a
secondary class yet?
Kiera shook her head, her ear twitching. She was a Zaif, wolf-like creatures who were more humanoid than animal. Her hair was an almost golden color, barely noticeable blue streaks going through it that complimented her bright blue eyes. It hung in large ringlets around her face, shoulders and down her back.
Amusingly enough, she looked more like Zaos’ sister than Kit’s.
Kit was also a Zaif. His hair was short, a dark red and shaggy, falling just barely past his ears. His eyes were dark brown, standing out in contrast to his pale skin.
Zaos decided on a dusty brown ponytail, his eyes a slightly darker blue than Kiera’s. He claimed he’d picked his actual features to go off of when creating his character like she and Lilia had. Even as a Zaif, Zaos towered over the rest of the group.
Kiera: Maybe botany like Lilia. I think Kit is gonna do Woodworking so he can make his own bow and arrows.

JiYeong: ah that's smart. He could make your staffs until you get too high a level too. Botany would be good for you then. Or Mining. You could gather your own catalysts if you Mine, and you won't have to buy them all the time. Plus you'd make decent money selling them.
Kiera: Really? Maybe I’ll do that then! Mining outfits are super cute too.
JiYeong: You can always switch jobs if you don’t like Mining too. Lilia went through like five different jobs before she found one that she liked.
Lilia: It wasn’t five, you liar.
JiYeong: Oh whatever. Anyone want some of this fruit salad? It’ll boost your accuracy and dex some.
Zaos seemed to bounce back at that, going over to sit at the bar next to Kiera. Kit followed suit, taking a seat on the bar, elbow resting on his knee.
Zaos: So JiJi. When am ah
gunna meet ya irl?
JiYeong: When you come to
America.
Zaos: that aint’ fair JiJi.
JiYeong: You’re literally across the ocean in Canada! It doesn’t take long to get here!
Lilia: Pretty sure there isn’t an ocean between us.
JiYeong: Well then there’s really nothing stopping him, is there?
Zaos: Why don’t you come here
then if it’s that simple!
JiYeong: I don’t have a passport
Zaos: How don’t you have a
passport?
JiYeong: Do you have a
passport?
Zaos: …
Kit: JiYeong, what was that
attack you used earlier? I didn’t
think Guardians could use
Magick.
Lilia: They aren’t supposed to
be able to.
Zaos: And Shadow Ritual isn’t a
move I’ve ever heard of either,
not even on Mages.
JiYeong should have known she wouldn’t have been able to escape the conversation. It was weird that the move would show up randomly like that. It was hard remembering if it had even been on her skill bar before. And yet she couldn’t think of any way for it to just show up like it had.
Zaos: Didn’t you say it made
your head hurt? Did you have
the same reaction this time?
JiYeong: yeah kinda…
Lilia: What does kinda mean?
JiYeong yawned, stretched her arms, and glanced at her phone. The time read back at her 12:43 am. When had so much time passed?
JiYeong: Boy oh boy as much as I love sitting here playing 20 questions I’m old and need sleep.
Lilia: JiYeong…
JiYeong: Seriously, I need to sleep. I’m tired.
Zaos: Let her go. We’ll talk more tomorrow.
Lilia: I guess...I’ll text you JiYeong. Don’t think you’re off the hook!
JiYeong: Okay okay. I’m logging
off. See you guys tomorrow!
Kiera: Night sis!
Kit: G’night Ji!
Zaos: Tomorrow then, JiJi!

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
