《Ari》Average

This is basically not the final draft but the script for our webtoon. Coming soon!
-huge explosions and then pan out to her window-
(thought bubble)Great, it’s them again.
Oh, my name is Ari (waking up on bed rubbing eyes messy hair)
I’m just your average girl. (walks to the bathroom to brush teeth)
Nothing special about me. (explosion sounds in the background)
Average grades, average looks, average family, average friends, average everything.(Looking at herself in the mirror, pulling her tie and checks before she leaves)
So why am I complaining? The thing is, this world is not fit for an average person. No sir!
It seems this world is tailor made for your average protagonist. You ever read a shonen manga? Somehow, the hero is granted supernatural powers and all their problems are solved.
In this world, people get shields of immunity and god’s blessings. But not me. Alas, the gods look down upon me.
I was created to be a background character. (goes downstairs and passes pictures of her average family as she passes by- explosion sounds still going)
To be insignificant in the grand scheme of things. (sits down and eats eggs(breakfast foods))
I wasn’t even blessed with the role of the supporting character(more explosions sounds)
At least they get some attention-heavy sigh, puff of air coming out of her mouth-
The thing is, I don’t want to be average. Cliche right?(walking down hallway0
Inner voice spotlight: (I know I hate myself)
But, ever since I was a kid, I have read so many amazing stories of heroes and heroines and their tales of being the main character, wanting to be them soooo bad.
I mean who doesn't want to be the hero? We as a species are social and we love attention, power, control. That's our thing.
Thus, why I want to become strong with the invincible hero shield and of course super powers. To become the most beautiful person anyone has even glanced at. To become rich and popular too of course. (chibi drawings of the different things)(while she’s getting ready to leave)

I just want to be something other than my boring nothing self. (walking out of the house, can see explosion in the background as she leaves her street)(she glances up at the sky her face be like 😕)
(average school front, her walking in)
Fun fact, this school has been destroyed 3 times in the last year
Her at her norm school
So. (taking off her shoes for slippers at her locker)
In conclusion, average people aren’t meant for this world.
We can't defend ourselves or our families from the disastrous battles. I suppose our only purpose is to be slain by the supernatural or get our boring asses saved by the heroes.
(walks into class, setting her stuff down and getting prepared for class her seat is farthest from the window and like in the middlish)
(school bell rings)
*ding dong dong ding*
(teacher): “Good morning class, we have a new student joining us today! Her name is Sakura Nakamura, please welcome her with open arms!”
(ari looks at sakura)
(S)h-hello (Sakura nervously stares around and gives a bow and a little cute wave)
(A-inner monologue)‘She... looks pretty average. Dare I say, she is one of us? Maybe I should go say hi, transferring in the middle of the school year is pretty tough’
(Sakura walking to a seat (is one scene and then the next one is another scene)takes the seat where protagonist sit, in end by window)
Aris face is another scene: please expression like this (⊙_ʖ⊙)
(A-inner mono)‘Alas, I was mistaken. I can see where this is going’(ari fading away in oblivion)
(A-inner mono)‘Wait. Maybe I can try my luck and become friends with her, so I at least get some brownie points’
(A-inner mono)‘But... i might be overthinking’
(A-inner mono)‘Ugh! I read too much manga’ (looks down with those grey lines. You know, those grey lines)

-bell rings ending class-
-(A)takes a deep breath preparing herself-
(A)okay, time to become my own side character(chibi determined self)
(A)-walks over awkwardly- “Hi…”
-Sakura looks up surprised-
(A) I’m Ari! Can I be your sidek-?
Inner monologue: Oh my god! Why did I just say that? Crap, I blew my one chance!(soul leaving body)
(A)Uhh, let me rephrase that. Want to be friends?
(S)(with tears in her eyes)Really?! S-Sure my name is Sakura, I'm new.
(A-inner mono) Yes! Nailed it-
(A)Wow, who could have guessed? (muttering this chibi form)
(A)So, did you just move here?
(S)(chibi form) Yes, my parents were unfortunately killed by the unumoculum so I am staying with my aunts family. They are nice I guess... Well not really, i don't think they like me. I'm just extra luggage for them. I don't know why they don't like me. Oh, i think its because they blame me for my brother and parents death. I really couldn't do anything! I dont know-
(A)Oh… I-I’m sorry(awkward laugh). Uh..I’ve lived here my whole life. My dad sells insurance. My mom works at the grocery store at the corner.
(S)Oh how lovely(smiles politely) what a peaceful life! I will gladly take you offer to become friends. Thank you!
-Ari awkwardly smiles but inside she partying) continues with cut scenes of her and sakura at school: ari shows Sakura around the school, cafeteria, warns Sakura about what not to do and gives her a list of rules(this can be in chibi form)
(ends school scene with her walking sakura to the bus stop)-
(A)Well, I’ll see you tomorrow!(smiles) I hope you enjoy the mundane life of our little town”
(S)Yes! It’s so cute here! we should hang out after school, you should show me around town.”
(A)(Finger guns) Totally! Why did i say that.
(Inner mind drawing: face palming)
-cuts to Ari at home doing her homework-
(A-inner mono)Well, Sakura is actually pretty nice. (Cricket sounds in background)
-ari rolls her eyes- when did I become soft.
(in a thought bubble as she does homework)
The things I've learned about her.. let’s see...
Her parents were killed thus she's a big believer in justice and wishes she has the power to protect everyone.
Ugh, I hate polynomials---
Sakura has no friends except me cause she just moved here.
--almost done... this equals 2.78---
I wonder how Sakura is doing with her homework?(pauses pencil tapping her head she thinking) Maybe I should give her my notes? I do have her number…
-takes phone out-
‘Hey, if you need help let me know. The homework is pretty hard.”
Ari: kay, done being nice. -stretches and yawns-
-cut scene to her downstairs grabbing snack and sitting on couch- opens tv-
News anchor: in our city of ashen the creature came from what is believed to be Tornadic. There was mass destruction, but thankfully our safety regiment has saved many people. But all our thanks goes to the hero alliance foundation without their help, we would all have been obliterated, we will be holding a ceremony ....”
(A-inner mono)that (hero) did more damage than the monster. At least they woke me up on time.(ari is a deep sleeper)
-Ari let’s the tv play in the background-
“Okay time to do my daily stretches!”(cute drawing of her doing her stretches)

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
