The Other Side – Prologue

I think I will always be seen as the weird one, the one person that no one seems to understand. I was born a girl on my world with snow white hair and icy blue eyes, a human being no one will ever understand in this world. I have lived my life from place to place, wandering without friends or family, always searching for one thing. Then one night when I drifted off into sleep, I met the one person who could actually understand me. She was the only one to understand my feelings, and hell, she was the first girl I had feelings for. It was so wonderful, I felt as if I had finally found the one person who would never look down on my life and who I was. Every night I would eagerly fall asleep and meet her in that dream world, and we would go explore whatever we wanted to, always hand in hand. One night when I fell asleep and met up with her again in a dream, she took me by the hand and brought my ear to her mouth as she whispered softly into it with her sweet voice.

“One day, I will bring you beyond this fake dream world and show you my real world Hana.”

I was about to question her, wondering what she had meant by her world. But she just simply smiled in her usual angelic way and placed a finger on my lips, hushing my thoughts. At that moment, I had a feeling of dread, a feeling that it would be ages before we could meet again. Rather than waste time, I took ahold of her hand and brought my face to hers, softly kissing her lips. I knew something was about to happen, and so I made sure to share one last moment with her, letting her know how I felt for her. She didn’t flinch once at my action of kissing her, in fact she whole heartedly embraced me in an elegant manner.

“I love you Sakura.” I said to her between kisses, and she replied to me in a happy tone.

“And I love you as well Hana. Even after this, when we wake up, always remember I will be here for you.”

As soon as she had uttered the words, I woke up in my bed, alone. I never saw her again in my dreams and it made me deeply sad when I thought of the time we had spent together. But eventually time flowed and I grew a few years older and wiser, but never less lonely. But Sakura did keep her word, for somehow I did end up traveling to her and her world after one day at college…..
