《How I Slayed A Dragon》Chapter 16

(Aug 22 Continued)
I woke up in a nearby break room filled with beds for fighters to rest on. William made sure to scold me for losing consciousness again, asking why am I so weak? How many times have I lost consciousness already in battle, he told me to hurry up and get stronger and stop getting knocked out so many times.
Although his words were very rude and I feel very offended (I'll get him back for this one day! Just you watch), I knew he was saying it because he's worried for me.
William sighed and congratulated me on being the second person to survive and told me I'm moving onto the final tournament.
He said while I was unconscious, some top tier healers patched me up and a couple of hour have passed so by now the 7th group match just concluded, and there's only one match left.
It was high noon and the sun was blazing so they were taking a little break so people could get drinks and lunch. It gave me some time to rest up and then get back to watching the last match of group battles.
Cornelia's group already went and of course she passed along with another A ranker who was in her group as well.
I decided to grab some lunch as well and headed to a small shop selling some food.
A nice juicy chicken burger! Damn it's good, the juicy sauce, the crisp and salty chicken, a soft bun and some lettuce, combined into a nice burger.
After I finished that I headed back to the stadium where the battles were being held.
The final match is starting soon, I don't know anyone in the final group but there is actually 3 A ranked in the final match, so one of the A ranked will have to get knocked off and since all the groups were picked randomly so situations like this could happen.
From what I know, there's an A ranked necromancer, an A ranked assassin and an A ranked tanker.
Only two of these three can win and one of them has to lose, well technically it's possible for a B ranker or a C ranker to survive as one of the two remaining fighters but I doubt it.

A couple minutes passed and the fighters got back onto the platform where they would be fighting.
I was excited for this one, it would be fun to watch 3 A rankers fight it out and see the one of them get knocked off instead of a single A rank dominating the battle. Each of the 3 A ranked fighters looked extremely confident as if they had no doubt in their mind they were going to win, but I knew one of them had to get knocked off.
The platform rose and the match started once again.
The A ranked necromancer immediately summoned a couple of undead skeletons which emerged from his/her (the necromancer was wearing a mask so I don't know the gender, also assassin has his/her face covered as well) shadow.
2 massive skeleton clad in dark armor stood in front of the necromancer to defend, 4 undead warriors with a simple weapon like a sword or an axe each and three undead archers next to the necromancer.
Although I didn't know for sure how strong the undeads were from the audience, they were at least C to B ranked which is impressive.
I also noticed the A ranked assassin had vanished, I couldn't even see the assassin anymore, it was like the assassin disappeared into thin air.
A ranked assassins were on another level when it comes to stealth and speed.
When I glanced over to the tanker I realized that three other people were attacking him, the A ranked tanker was a surprisingly small man but he was holding two massive iron shields that looked like doors.
With each shield in hand he would smash it onto the attackers and dash/ bashed into other people to knock them off like a bull.
In less then 5 minutes only the 3 A rankers remained.
The necromancer hadn't moved much but he/she made it's undeads to defend and attack others.
Eventually the 3 A rankers confronted each other, the A ranked assassin was still hidden and I still can't find the assassin but it seemed like the other 2 A ranked didn't care about the assassin.
The tanker dashed towards the necromancer with both his massive great shields in front of him but the two undead tankers got in his way and both of them worked together to block the A ranker tanker.

The undead tankers were quite strong but nowhere near strong enough to stop him, the A ranked tanker roared and with a push of his greatshield with massive force, he created a mini shock wave and destroyed the undead tankers into dust.
This all happened within a couple seconds however the necromancer already made his/her move, a new undead wizard appeared which appear to actually be very strong, I could feel it's magical pressure from afar and it was at least B ranked near A.
The undead wizard was holding a purple orb which looked like it had purple steam emitting from it and I could feel a strong source of condensed magic stored in there.
The tanker rushed forward without a care for his safety and ignored the wizard just dashing towards the necromancer but the necromancer jumped onto the shoulder of one of the undead archers that were there and leapt over the tanker with a flip and while in mid-air, the necromancer summoned two undead archers and shot at the tanker's exposed back (exposed but had a bit of armor).
Two heavy iron arrows shot out of the undead bows and hit the tanker dealing minimal damage but attracted his attention enough for him to turn around back to the necromancer as the necromancer landed on the ground.
That was also when the undead wizard from before finished his spell and cast a massive debuff on the tanker. I don't know what spell the undead wizard used for sure but it seemed to make the tanker a lot heavier and slower.
Now a bunch of undeads were surrounding the weakened tanker and the necromancer was in the back being protected by a couple of undeads.
Though it looked like tanker was in a bad situation, it wasn't as bad as it looked. The tanker didn't show everything he had.
The tanker looked around him, like he was analysis the situation and then he roared all of a sudden like a lion and then a massive gush of air was emitted from him which felt like a force was being pushed from him and it looked like that caused the debuff to go away,
Some tanker have abilities to repel debuffs and curses, and of course an A ranked tanker would be able to repel stronger debuffs and curses. In fact, the roar skill he just did probably buffed himself and made him pumped up temperately boosting his strength!
He roared again, this time causing some of the undeads to flinch which he used this opportunity to dash in between two undead warriors towards the necromancer. This may seem reckless but it was smart because if you take out the summoner then the summoned creatures will natural disappear, but if you defeat the summoned undeads, the summoner can just summon more(as long as they have enough magic energy).
However before the tanker could reach the necromancer, he suddenly stopped and froze.
It wasn't that he wasn't moving, it was that he can't.
He was being paralyzed by the hidden A ranked assassin.
Beneath him, a shadow was grabbing onto him and crawling over his body as it was restraining him, I wasn't very well versed in assassin skills but it looked like an ability to stop and freeze a person by using and manipulating shadows to restrain the enemy.
But the one being retrained was an A ranked tanker, the shadow retrain didn't last long and the tanker broke free.
However, with the little time the tanker was restrained for, the assassin managed to get onto the tankers head and wrapped a cloth over his neck and tried strangling him.
The tanker was strong and had high defense, but he if he can't block or defend, then he's in a bad situation.
The tanker squirmed and tried to break free from the assassin but the cloth that the assassin was strangling the tanker with seemed to be very durable and the tanker's actions were futile.
With all this happening the necromancer summoned 3 undead wolves which all charged at the tanker and knocked him off the edge of the platform into the water.
When the splash of the tanker hit the water was heard, the assassin and the necromancer high fived each other and spoke to each other but since I was too far I couldn't hear the conversation.
Though it seemed like the two of them had planned before the match and agreed to team up against the tanker...
