《How I Slayed A Dragon》Chapter 3

(April 3)
We have just arrived at the city, the walls are massive and the streets are bustling with life.
This place was at least twice the size of Azgard!
Right now I'm inside a restaurant and eating this dish called RA-MEN.
It's weird, it's like a bunch of thick string but it's delicious! I've never seen such a thing before, the string or they call it the noodle, is soft and when eaten with it's broth, it tastes spectacular!
This city is amazing!
.
It's been a long day, after eating at the ramen shop I had asked Brian where I was going to go, and he told me that someone had wanted to meet me and ask me a few questions.
He "escorted" me to the main royal castle and we went around the side and entered through a small gate on the side of the caste wall which led to a training room.
The room was quite cold and was filled with workout stuff, like dumb bells, swords, wooden dummies, and etc.
In the middle was a massive muscular man doing one handed pushup and even from just one glance at him, I could tell he was at least B rank. AT LEAST.
"Oh, why hello there."
The dude was almost a head taller then me.
I thought I was tall but this guy was huge. He greeted me and seemed pretty friendly, I found out his name was Briggs after a short greeting. He said that a wizard that he knew was researching dragons in an attempt to create some sort of anti-dragon or something like that to protect themselves from the dragons.
Dragons are extremely unpredictable and are powerful too so having they are researching a way to fight back.
They heard of the recent incident and want to ask me some things to get my opinion and my help on things.
Then they once again led me somewhere, they brought me to a tall brick tower, like a typical wizard tower you would think with a long spiral staircase to the top.
Geez, who the hell built such a huge ass spiral staircase? What is it even for? Why couldn't they just made the room on ground level, there was no reason to build such a huge tower when there's only one floor at the very top and stairs to the top.

But when we did reach the top, I was greeted with the smell of something sweet.
Briggs knocked on the door and a skinny man in a white lab coat opened the door.
William Helck, was his name.
He was a wizard researcher who was as mentioned earlier, researching dragons.
Apparently he was quite famous for inventing magic weapons and was an A ranked wizard.
Briggs left and said he'd be back which meant only William and I remained in the lab, which William then showed me around the lab, showing me some weird chemicals and the experiments he was doing.
He told me how dragons although they were a rare species and few in number, meeting one is not that rare. Dragons have no lifespan and thus can live forever, that is unless someone kills them and so that is why dragons are usually very old and some people actively hunt dragons.
He then asked me if I knew what life force was, and I said of course, even kids nowadays know what life force is.
Life force is the energy that all living beings from plants, to monster to humans to fairies, all living things have life force.
There are three types of life force, Chi, Chakra and Mana.
As we all know the three gods, Artoria, Satana and Verney are the source of all life force and all living beings are descendants of one of the three gods. Humans are descendants of Artoria, Devils are of Satana, and Fairies are of Verney. (Author's Note, a reference to the basic world intro chapter)
However the three gods are all made up of different types of mana, and Artoria is made up of Chakra, Verney is made of Mana and Satana is made up of Chi.
Since living beings are a descendant of one of the gods, we also possess the same type of energy within us as the god we are connected to and are a descendant of. For example humans are descendants of Artoria and since Artoria is made of chakra, the life force type within humans is Chakra.
Each type of life force is slightly different and have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Chi is the strongest type of life force, and has the greatest quantity and output power however controlling it is extremely difficult and it's control is very low.
Mana is the opposite, it's the weakest energy but it's control is the highest and it's the easiest to control and manipulate.
Chakra is the middle of the two, not as strong as Chi and not as controllable as Mana but it's stronger then Mana and more controllable then Chi.
Humans = Artoria = Chakra (Medium control, Medium strength)
Fairy = Verney = Mana (High Control, Weak strength)
Devil = Satana = Chi (Low control, High strength)
This is the basics of all life and the life energy residing within them, and living beings use these energies to perform magic, spells, healing, enchantments, fighting, training and whatnot.
William nodded at me and continued on.
William told me write what he says down so he wouldn't have to explain it again:
Since i know what all the types of life force energy is, he'll now explain what he knows about dragons. Dragons are beings that become stronger the longer they live.
But since dragons have no lifespan, they can live forever which means they can infinitely become stronger as well. And the longer the life the more their life force will grow.
Dragon's are one of the most special species to ever live, why?
As we know, all living beings are made of one of the three types of energy, but dragons however are made up of all three, chakra, chi and mana combined to form a new energy called dragon essence.
Now, all living beings are only suppose to have one type of the three, if two people with different life energy were to have the child, the child would inherit one of the two types of energy, not both.
For example if a fairy and a human came together, it's child would not get both chakra and mana, it would get one of the two.
So this is why dragons having all three types of energy is such a law breaking concept and that's what makes dragons so strong. Although the dragon's physical body is strong, it wouldn't even be a quarter of the full strength if it didn't possess dragon essence.
Dragon essence have very different and unique characteristics, and it's like a whole new energy. Think of it this way, it's like combining two types of different element atoms to form a new type of compound in chemistry and the new substance will have different properties then the two elements used to create it.
When a living person dies, usually their energy will simply disperse into the air and vanish, but dragon essence lingers around and will get absorbed by any nearby living beings.
That means if a dragon is killed, the nearest person will absorb all it's powers and become extremely powerful for a short period of time before eventually the dragon essence dissolves into the air.
However you can't absorb a living dragon's essence because a dragon's blood has properties that attract dragon essence and absorb it to keep it from escaping and being absorbed by other living beings around it. That also stops dragon essence from dispersing from it's body like it does when another living being absorbs it.
So only when a dragon is dead, is it's energy released and it's blood lose it's properties.
After William explained all this, he asked me if he could do some simple experiments on me, like borrowing a small vial of blood or taking a sample of my life force because since I was near a dragon before. I may still have some lingering dragon essence on me.
William then proceeded to shove a needle into my arm and take some blood before I could even respond.
Ouch.
Then suddenly William gasped as he dropped my vial of blood onto the ground which broke and shards of glass and blood flew around.
"Y-y-you're a DRAGON???"
William shouted at me as he pulled out his staff preparing to fight me.

Meek
After failing as an apprentice cooper and a town guard, Eli finds his place at the Rockbridge archives. Sure, he's the oldest 'junior scribe,' but he likes the job. And he's good at it, too. Then he completes an apparently-insignificant project, and the brutal reaction shocks him--with consequences that eventually shake the world. Eli gains powers. Rare and inhuman abilities. He progresses slowly, steadily, and not without setbacks. He changes, too. Is he a hero, a villain, a human, a monster? Depends who you ask. Meek is an epic fantasy with elements of progression. The basic magic is simple: five Paths, each with a different powerset. However, complexity arises from combinations, and the protagonist wields a magic all his own. Meek is set in the Valley, the only (as far as anyone knows) human empire that survived a Final Battle against a terrible foe. The Valley is warded against infiltration, but the enemy learned how to warp human souls, to foment discord within. However, another soul is also ... changed. Perhaps even 'warped.' And that soul is starting on a long (long, long) path that might, one day, prove that the Final Battle wasn't so final after all.

Author's Note: (This is my first story, and I would be very thankful if grammatical errors were pointed out. I could also take a few suggestions in the comments if you would. This is less a planned production, and more a little project that I'm winging as it goes. I will try and be consistent with at least 2 chapters a week. Also, as I am a completely new author, the number of words per chapter may fluctuate. The minimum will be around 1000 words, while other chapters may be 2000-3000. It will hopefully only get better with time.)
