《Age of Cultivation Online》Chapter 7: Book of Herbology Vol. 2

Juewang Guan didn't dare to enter the house and intrude upon the two's touching moment, between the grandfather and the grandson. So he patiently waited outside of their house, and only wished the two good luck, and the sick boy Chu Xiao a safe and quick recovery.
'Hmmm... Interesting!' Whilst Juewang Guan was patiently waiting for the old village chief to arrived and hand him his intended reward for the completion of the mission. He was busy immersed in the reading of his book, slowly accumulating the knowledge of medicinal herbs and herbal medicine written within the book of herbology volume 1.
The skill proficiency of the passive skill [Basic Herbology Knowledge Lv.1] has risen slightly, increased by a few levels or two. It didn't make much significant difference by increasing a few levels of the skill, but it does help Juewang Guan retain a few pieces of information about the herb and their uses in medicine. As the skill level and proficiency of the skill rises so does his memory retention of the contents written within the book of herbology volume 1.
It took the old village chief sometime to recollect himself, after a while, having enough time to calmly recollect himself, before meeting with Juewang Guan himself.
The old village chief then leaves his home, whilst still holding onto the 9 years Chu Xiao within his left hand, as they both went out to meet Juewang Guan himself. And noticeably within the old village chief's right hand, he is holding onto an old dilapidated yellow book, presumably the [Innovative Breathing Technique Manual].
'Is that supposed to be my intended reward for the completion of the quest?' Juewang Guan assumes as he eyed the yellow cover book, within the old village chief's hand.
Upon arriving at Juewang Guan's location, the old village chief then immediately bows his head towards Juewang Guan and sincerely said. "Thank you, for saving Chu Xiao's life. Without the help of the medicine you've brought, I'm sure that he won't be able to recover as quickly from his sickness and be well as he is now... Thank you."
"It's nothing big, as for the need for you to bow your head directly to me." Juewang Guan waved it off, having not quite understood the far extent of his actions.
He nevertheless said to the two, "It's common for people to help out others when they are in need of help. It's human nature." However, Juewang Guan's voice trembles slightly as he said the last part.

'When I was in need of help, the only one that willingly decided to reach their hand out towards me was her, and no one else... Everyone else just seems to have completely forgotten about me.' Juewang Guan thought so to himself, as he began to stare off into the distance.
"Now Chu Xiao please thank the young lad for help curing you of your sickness." The old village chief lectured the 9 years old boy.
"Duì," Chu Xiao nods his head in agreement, agreeing with his grandfather's statement, as he then turned to directly face Juewang Guan. The 9 years old Chu Xiao said, with an honest heartfelt "Thank you!" towards Juewang Guan.
The 9 years old Chu Xiao's heartfelt thank you then immediately draws Juewang Guan right back to reality, making lose his current track of thought. 'Oh, that's right. The quest rewards.'
The old village chief then handed Juewang Guan the old dilapidated yellow covered book as the quest reward, "Here take this old book as your reward. I don't have things of much value inside of my home. So I could only hope that you would take appreciation in whatever little I could give you as a reward in the help of curing my grandson's sickness."
Ding!
A mechanical beep resounded inside his head as a blue notification screen then pops up appearing in front of him.
System Notification You have acquired the reward item [Innovative Breathing Technique Manual]!
"Thank you, I guess." Juewang Guan then reciprocated, returning the thank you of the two back to them, as a common courtesy.
"Heya." Juewang Guan decided to speak up, which seems to have caught the attention of the two individual before him.
The old village chief was a bit perplexed as he answered back, "What is it, lad?"
"Is it possible for me to keep this book, and not give it back?" Juewang Guan asked as he proceeded to show the front cover of the Book of herbology volume 1, that he was currently holding within his hand, right now.
The old village chief was pleasantly surprised, not at all expecting for Juewang Guan to make an unexpected request. "You want that book, but why." He then questions his motive.
Juewang Guan then responded, "There's much to say that I'm an avid reader who enjoys reading books to pass the time." He answers truthfully towards the two.

The 9 years old Chu Xiao then holds some doubt towards Juewang Guan's statement, like all kids typical of his age, they all despise learning and reading, and rather play outside all day.
"Why would you like reading? It's not even fun at all." The 9 years old Chu Xiao asked the young adult Juewang Guan.
"It's pretty interesting to learn about things that which you don't know, rather than doing nothing that may not prove to be useful for you in the future." Juewang Guan said so honestly, which only seems to further displeased the 9 years old Chu Xiao, but his own grandfather the old village chief certainly understand what the young lad meant by his words.
"I see that you are a keen reader, young lad. You have a much brighter future than my hopeless nine years old grandson." The old village chief was very pleased with Juewang Guan's statement, at the very least, there is someone within the village that has some potential to be a scholar.
"Can you please wait a sec, lad? Let me go inside and get you something that might prove to be quite valuable to yourself." The old village chief said, as he then proceeded to head inside the house, and get something out from the back.
Juewang Guan then lightly pats the 9 years old Chu Xiao's head, as he then said to him, "You are much too young to seek the enjoyment of reading, but once you are older, you will gradually understand."
'If I were to not have enjoyed reading Xianxia/Wuxia book and novels during my free time, then I wouldn't have decided to even play this game.' Juewang Guan thought so to himself.
The 9 years old Chu Xiao just standing from the sidelines, whilst giving off a pouting look, but nevertheless, he still likes getting head pats off from Juewang Guan.
The old village chief then returns back from his room, as he brought back with him another book.
The book that the old village chief brought back, has some similar designs to the first volume of the book of herbology that was given to Juewang Guan previously.
The old village chief then handed over the book toward Juewang Guan, as he intended, "Here take this. It's the second volume of the Book of Herbology. It will be more useful in your hands, rather than being stuck and slowly wilting away in my storage room." He exclaimed.
Ding!
A mechanical beep resounded inside of his head, as he then saw a blue notification screen confirming that he acquired the item.
System Notification You have acquired the item [Book of Herbology Volume 2]!
'The second volume of the book of herbology...'Juewang Guan thought so to himself.
There are a total of ten volumes of the book of herbology, with each volume containing at least one thousand detailed entries of herbal plants and their uses. Not including ones that have yet to be discovered yet.
The world is extremely vast, and there are many places and land areas outside of the great continent of Pangu.
So it is to be expected that some plants may have grown and evolved differently from the typical plants that are found on the great Pangu continent.
"Thank you, village chief." Juewang Guan then happily accepted the old village chief's gift, as he then reciprocates his thanks.
It was then that a sudden strong breeze cuts through the village, and a white and light blue-robed youth then arrives in front of the village chief's house, standing atop of the still floating flying sword. This individual was no other than the Tianji Sect Senior Disciple Shang Guan that Juewang Guan previously helped carried down from atop the hilltop mountain.
Upon seeing the figure of the individual that is named Shang Guan, Juewang Guan then immediately gave Shang Guan a formal greeting, by cupping his hands together. "Greetings! We finally meet again Mr Shang Guan."
There was a noticeably light smirk plastered Shang Guan's face, as he then responded, "There is no need for you to show such formality towards me, just call me Shang Guan, and that's fine. Like I said previously." Shang Guan then broke down into a burst of laughter.
