《The Misadventures of a Young Dark Magician》Episode 3 (Part 1)

Meanwhile, back in the monster world, Ms. Glenda went to her homeroom to rearrange and clean things up. When she finished, she returned to her desk and sat down in gloom. Now that Glenda had given away all the spheres and wands she had, she felt the room was emptier without them. A shadow appeared at the door to inform her of something urgent that required her immediate attention, jolting her from her daydream thoughts.
“Huh? What?"
When the shadow walked into the room, light reflecting the helmet, it turned out to be the Counselor Clause.
“Miss Glenda, I’m afraid I have some terrible news!”
“Counselor Clause, what’s the matter?” Glenda asked in an alarming state.
“I have come with foreboding bad news.”
“Uh, yeah, I know. You stated that literally seconds ago.” Glenda glanced at him from over her metal-rimmed glasses.
“Oh, right, my bad.” Clause wrung his hands as he collected his thoughts.
His gray hair and thick mustache always appeared odd and out of place for someone dressed up as an astronaut, as upon his head he wore a glass bowl.
Glenda hardly noticed the contraption nowadays, but early in their relationship, she couldn’t help but laugh at the older man in the fishbowl. If he only knew how many times people made jokes at his expense.
“Can you hurry? I have stuff to do.” Glenda told him, hoping the message was not as awful as Clause led her to believe. She had had a busy morning and was exhausted from the day’s events. There was so much left to do to prepare; this was not a welcomed part of the plan.
“Ok, to put it simply: ‘It’ has returned.” That one word hung in the air like some foul odor. Glenda caught her breath.

“What?!” Glenda couldn’t believe her ears.
Could it be true? Clause had been wrong in the past but never about something this important. Then again, which piece of information could he be talking about still?
“You know, the Howler Coaster that opens every ten thousand moons?”
“Wasn’t it 9,352, though?” Glenda, always the teacher, couldn’t help but correct Clause’s inaccurate assessment of the time that passes between its last appearances. She felt embarrassed that she said it.
Oh, what pettiness, Glenda thought. Why do I always do that?
“Yeah, but ten thousand sounds more mystical, don’t you think?” Clause brought up with a smile.
He knew Glenda well and respected her over the years. He didn’t mind her correcting him on the statistical data. Clause tried to lighten the mood, but it was lost on Glenda as she processed the news brought before her.
“Oh no, if what you’re saying is true, then we need to leave right away!” Glenda forgot all about the sphere, wands, and kids for a moment. She grabbed her keys and leaped from the chair. There was no time to lose.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

Saga of the Great Wolf
In the Dragon Seal Universe, humans worship the Celestial Court of the Dragon Gods. As per the edicts of the Celestial Court, humans Cultivate the Dao to seek strength and rise above their common roots. If they rise to one day serve the Dragon Gods directly, they have the chance to be initiated into the Greater Secrets of the Daos, which can allow them to live for millions of years. Coalescence, the Path to Transcendence, is considered a Heretical Art of the Demonic War Masters, whose evil empire was said to have been overthrown hundreds of millennia in the past by the Celestial Court. Wolves, a species that are said to have once served the War Masters, are listed by the Temple of the Celestial Court as one of the most corrupt of Demonic Beasts. They are killed on sight. Surrounded by the Demonic Wildlands and protected by the ancient Watch Towers, a number of human nations and empires thrive atop the Great Plateau. Cultivators rule over the general populace and the Temple of the Celestial Court rules over the Cultivators. Anyone caught practicing Coalescence is sentenced to death by torture. I am half human and half Wolf. Since I am already under a death sentence for my Bloodline, there is nothing to stop me from setting out on the Path of Coalescence. As I promised my mother, I will grow strong. When I am strong enough, I will destroy the Dragons and Dragon Gods. I will set this world, once known as Sirius, free from their chains. Releases will be on Tuesdays & Fridays.
