《Airant》The First Time I Returned!
So bored… I was laying in bed. It’s been a month, and I’ve exhausted everything I wanted to do. Went outside, played games on my consoles, visited Dad…
Argh! I’m so tired of laying down! I got up. I might as well watch some TV I guess.
I went into the living room. My mother was already there, watching some house flipping show or something. I don’t know. I say watching, but really it was just on as she chatted on the phone.
“-So yeah, things have been tough but at least I finally have my internet back on. Noel keeps bothering about it.” My mom said, not even noticing me.
My eyes lit up at her statement though. Internet!
I rushed back into the computer room. My brothers were still asleep, so I was the first to the computer. Alright! I booted it up and clicked Airant.
Come on…
Connected!
Yes!
Finally! I can play again! Alright! Let’s do this!
I went through the login screen, typed in my password and selected my Character, Skier.
I entered the game, reappearing within Chop’s secret base. Well, My secret base now!
Oh, Airant, how I missed you. I ended up just walking around, swinging my sword in excitement. Even this was fun. So much better than real life, It didn’t feel like it was just a 3D character on the screen anymore. I was Skier once again! The ultimate adventurer! Wahaha! There’s so much I wanna do, so much I want to explore!
I pulled out the world map. Currently, it listed me as being deep within the Dungeon in the center of the continent. Is that where this place is? I didn’t have fun the last time I was around this area…
How do I even leave actually? I kinda just logged out after Chop did and I haven’t explored else where yet.
Didn’t he say there were rooms in this place? I looked around and spotted a small doorway. I walked towards it, it led into a smaller hallway, which had even more doors.
I tried the first door in the hall and entered a weird room.
Entering Chop’s Room
Oh! Is this his room? Inside was completely different from the standard white hall. Fancy red carpet lined the floor. The walls were very dark blue, and had several stars dotting them. A golden big bed lied in the center. Swords hung up on the wall. They were all extremely cool looking. Not as cool as my Roaring Aqua though.
There were also several shelves, filled with what looked like neat looking monster drops and other oddities.

What a cool room! I sat on the bed for a moment, just taking it all in.
…I miss Chop. It’s been a month since I last spoke to him. I was kinda hoping I’d log on as normal and he’d be right there.
I’m all alone now.
It’s okay though! He said he’ll be back one day! I’m sure of it! Yeah! I hopped off the bed. Lets explore some more!
I visited the other rooms, but there were all blank. By blank, I mean they had nothing in them. No beds, shelves nothing.
And I kept getting this messaged when I entered them.
Unclaimed Room. Would you like to claim it?
Nothing else really exciting here. I did end up claiming the room right across from Chop’s. An interface leading me to a shop where I could buy items for it appeared, but I just closed it. I don’t really have the money or time for that right now! I’m on an adventure!
At the end of the hall, There was a door that lead outside. I say ‘outside’ but when I went through, the area just became even weirder.
The sky was white, as white as the hallways that littered this place. The only difference was occasionally it would vibrate, sending off gray streaks in the sky. What kind of place did I end-hare-it? Inherit? Good thing I’m not talking to anyone at the moment…
Anyway, the rest of the outdoors was more normal. Several dummies lined a grassy field. I assumed this is where Chop practiced his awesome sword skills! Ha! Wa!
I slashed the air, mimicking what I think it would be like when Chop was here. Maybe I can practice some cool new skills when I get them in the future? I still need to learn Giga Slave after all… Or what was it’s actual name? It doesn’t matter. Giga slave is way cooler.
Anyway, that seemed to be the big areas of this place. I left the outside are and made my way back into the main area.
Now the real question is, where is the exit? I looked again towards the weird glowing door. I couldn’t see through the other side, but it would probably take me somewhere.
I walk into the door, entering the glowing field and on the other side…
I was in a damp, wet, yucky area. It was the Sewers I was in the last time I was training. Oh! I guess it just takes me back to where I was before. Neato!
That solves that issue then. Next order of business! What kind of trouble can I get myself into? I explored a lot of this place with Chop… Maybe I should go to the other continents too? There’s the really really big one, what was it called? Uh… Lyria? I think that’s right.

If I remember right, there was the floating cloud town there. Orbia, I think it was called. Chop said I shouldn’t bother with other areas till I fixed my stats. Well guess what! I did it! Now I can explore to my hearts content!
The real question is how do I get there?
“All aboard!” The station man called out. There was several people gathered at the station. I ended up making my way towards the center of the continent, turns out there was a platform that allowed you to go into other areas of the game. It was located on a massive tree, that expanded into a big wooden platform, filled with people going to several destinations.
Speaking of the people, they all quickly entered the boat leading to Lyria.
I say boat, but it was more like a combination of a boat and an airplane. An airship? Yeah! An airship! I gave the NPC my ticket and he let me climb on aboard as well.
There were lots of people. Too many people for my liking personally. Most of them sectioned off with each other, probably their own friends.
Friends… Chop said I should try to make some. I don’t even know how to do that though. What is it that my Dad usually tells me to do with the neighborhood kids? ‘Just go up and talk to them! Stop spending so much time inside!’
Well, I’m technically not doing the inside part. So that means I just need to walk up to someone and say hello!
I looked around at the people still on the deck. Some others went inside the boat, but I and others opted to sit outside. There was two people sitting next to each others towards the starboard side of the boat.
I walked up to them.
“Hello!”
One of the guys, turned to me. “What’s up?”
“Would you like to be my friend?” I asked.
“Uh… No?” The guy said.
Huh? What? “Why not?”
“I don’t even know you.” He simply said.
“Are you just looking for items dude?” The other guy said.
“No, I have enough items. Just look at my sword!” I said, pulling out my Roaring Aqua.
“Whoa… Is that a Roaring Aqua? They don’t even make those anymore!” The first guy said.
“Where the heck did you find that?” The other guy said.
Huh? Was my Roaring Aqua that rare? I had no idea! It makes it even cooler now!
“My Sensei Chop gave it to me!” I said with a smile.
“Sensei? What?” The other guy said.
“It means Teacher or Master in Japanese! You should watch more anime.” I said, nodding.
“Uh huh… And you said the NPC Chop gave that to you?”
“No! He wasn’t an NPC! Chop is Chop!” I said.
“Oh come on. You can’t really expect us to believe the best player in the game gave you his infamous weapon.”
“He did!” I said.
“Yeah, and pigs can fly too.” The first guy said. The other dude laughed.
I was confused. “I don’t think they can. Are you sure about that?”
“Dude I was making a-“ I didn’t read the rest of his message, as a loud sound rang out. It was like a noisy fire alarm.
“Ah shoot. We gotta run.” The other guy said. They both got up and ran doors the inside of the ship.
“Hey! I was still talking to you!” I shouted. They ignored me, slamming the door to the cabin behind them. Whatever! They were stupid anyway.
Actually, everyone was fleeing, except for a few really strong looking people. What was going on?
Suddenly, a black lightning stuck the center of the ship, and several monsters appeared! They were ugly, with pig like faces and big strong muscles. They also had wings on their backs. It looked like bat wings. They expanded their wings out and flew around the ship!
Oh! So that’s what they meant by pig flying!
Several others started to fight with the creatures. Swinging swords, casting magic. It was all very cool looking.
One of the pigbat things came towards me. You want a fight? Lets go!
I pulled out my Roaring Aqua. I charged up a Power Strike as the beast collided with me!
My sword jammed right into it’s chest, but it didn’t seem phased as it still hit me with it’s full force!
Next thing I knew I was flung right off the boat.
Oh come on!
Splat.
You died! 10% of EXP lost. Will revive in the nearest town shortly…
Title earned! The One Who STILL Thought He Could Fly, for not learning your lesson the first time! 1+ to DEX and 4+ to WILL!
Ugh.

The Laptop Hero (Portal/Isekai LitRPG)
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. If you can do better I'll happily accept your submission and give credit for your work here!

Rune
In the world of Rune, there are two kinds of Players. The Crafters, and the Fighters. Fighters level their magic power, fueling the runic items from their own bodies, while crafters use the runes they bring back to develop powerful items using their knowledge of the electronic-like system. Not everything stays that simple, though, and Rune is no exception. Within each region, a number of guilds have sprung up, operating as the unaccountable vanguard of defense for the besieged cities. They don't care to deal fairly, and nobody else has the power to do much about it. (Harem is tagged but it's honestly polyamory. I hate the word harem but given that some people would interpret it as such, in it goes.)
