Ichabod led them to a bedroom, full of books and toys. There were six beds so even Caleb got his own space.
Echo was still sleeping, but now Miriam could see the steady rise and fall of her chest. Davis picked up one of the toys and sat on the bed across from her.
"I can't believe we actually got here," he said.
Miriam hit him.
"Ow. What?"
"Your mother?"
"Well...yeah."
"Couldn't have told me that."
"You didn't ask."
She threw a pillow at his head. He laughed.
"I can't believe we actually got here."
"I'm sorry about your friend," said Miriam.
"He was one mean bastard in the end."
"Yeah, but you beat him."
"Yeah. We did."
They shared a smile.
"Think we can do this?"
"Just try and stop us."

When she was five, Miriam got lost for the first time in a shopping centre. She was with her mother, a tall woman with her hair dyed three colours and paint stains on her pants. Then Miriam got distracted. It wasn't a toy that distracted her, but an ornament.
It was a carousel made of glass and playing the loveliest music. Behind the horses there were mirrors and Miriam could see her own small face in them. Her reflection smiled at her, and she smiled back.
Then she turned around and her mother was gone. Miriam was so scared, and wouldn't stop crying. She wailed so much three people stopped to see what was wrong.
All she had to do was tell them, and then her mum would come get her. But she couldn't stop crying. Jackie found Miriam unable to speak in the center of a small, concerned crowd.
Davis woke up with a start. It had been so strange and felt so real. He had been so scared. He looked at Miriam, still asleep. It had been so bright, so full of noise and people. Was that what her home was like?

Even though the dream was gone, the memory remained, as did all the other memories he had stolen from her.
He lay in what now seemed like an unnatural dark and wondered how much she had relied on those memories to get them to the palace. He wondered how she was going to do this without them.

Age of Swordsmen Online
Let me ask you a question. Did you ever play a game so passionately, that you were able to play it for hours and hours, without even noticing how the time passed by? And then imagine being stuck… But you’re not only stuck because you can’t get any further, but you are also stuck because you can’t get out anymore This is the story of gamers, or should I say brave swordsmen who fought to clear the game, to beat the boss, to be alive. This is the story of a game, the story of… The Age of Swordsmen *************************************************** A guaranteed chapter every Monday + out of schedule chapters when I feel like it :pAuthor's Note: First Novel I ever published here. May remind some of SAO, but yeah... It actually isn't really like SAO at all. I would appreciate any corrections of grammar/spelling errors since I'm not a native English speaker. In addition to that, this is a 'First Draft', so I may edit a few things in old chapters when I feel like it.

Verdant Heart Seed - A Reverend Insanity fan-fiction
Back in the Late Antiquity Era, the protagonist meets his untimely demise. But Heaven and Earth always leaves a way out, his new cultivation journey begins anew on the path of reclaiming his former strength and defying Fate.---This is a story about a native cultivator of the Gu world. He lived in the era of/before Spectral Soul Demon Venerable (two venerable eras before the main RI plot). He suffered the rise of the demon venerable, barely able to make his arrangements before his death. He manages to rebirth, but doesn't everything go as planned. The story starts off in an isolated small word (grotto heaven), until the MC can grow and reclaim his former glory, before surpassing it. (long way, he was already rank 8 before) The MC has a pragmatic worldview, aligned with what you would expect from someone living hundreds of years in that kind of hostile environment. He doesn't shy away from immoral acts if it benefits him. The MC bears close resemblance to Fang Yuan in this regard, but his goal is not eternal life. One of my aims was to showcase the later introduced cultivation rules into the mortal cultivation (dao marks, attainment etc.) and explore novel scenarios within this highly technical cultivation environment.
