CHAPTER 5 The Mysterious Village Head
In a faraway land, a grand meeting was being held inside a medium-sized Manor, in the west part of the empire. The manor was the perfect depiction of the clan who lived inside. It was well organized and clean, every furniture was top class, but the chairs were arranged in a weird way. Five chairs were facing at each other with a distance enough to lay down a carpet between them. The Patriarch's chair was 3 steps higher than the other chairs facing the carpet.
Right now, the hall was empty except for the patriarch who was patiently waiting for a piece of news.
A shadow appeared in front of him kneeling respectfully.
" Reporting, patriarch the chimera that was sent to attack the village is dead, someone pointed out the injury I made to the beast even though it was covered with its fur, I believe that is just an accident but for the mission of gauging the village power, I succeeded. We just need to send one Foundation Stage - Late Rank and the entire village will be annihilated," he said not daring to look at patriarch's eyes.
" Very good, then send two Foundation Stage - Early Rank Experts to annihilate the village, " the Patriarch said
" My lord why bother sending out someone to annihilate this lowly village?, if you want, I can do it in a blink of an eye " The shadow casually replied.
" Idiot! why do you think I still need to gauge the capability of the village instead of killing them all with my intent! "
" Forgive me my lord, but I don't know the reason why."
"Listen to me the empress of this kingdom has received some clue about her son. "

Stunned for a moment before the shadow started comprehending what was going on.
The patriarch looked at the man and said.
"Hmnn. I think you know what is on my mind. If we casually annihilate a village, the empress might get suspicious about our actions and if she ever found out that her long lost son was one of them, then, you can imagine what will happen to us. We need to be very careful about our actions. actually, this is a bet, if we succeed in killing her son then we would not have a threat that we need to be worried about but, if we don't, then, depending on the capability of that boy we may be the one who will fall at the end. "
A cold shiver runs through the body of the man in the shadows.
" If we ever failed, I will find him and kill him on my own, " He thought.
" We need to be very careful, two Foundation Stage - Early Rank Experts are not suspicious at all, send them after three days and I will wait for your news. "
The patriarch casually waves his hand, and the man in the shadow was gone.
" If the royal family found out about him, at least we will not be suspected, weather they found him dead or alive. " He thought.

Back at the village when Ran pointed out the hidden injury of chimera, it took them an hour before finally killing the beast. The villagers who fought the beast were not gravely injured and there were no casualties on their side except the cultivators who were supposed to protect the village.
Sato the Village Chief, casually walked beside the dead body of one of the cultivators.
He only said " I see " before walking back to the village.

If someone was to look at his eyes right now, he would see deep hatred and pride burning in them.
Sato the village head is a wise man, he was very mysterious and no one knew his true identity or ability.
After the fight is over Angel and Ran continued talking for a while more before finally saying goodbye to each other.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Ran kept exploring the Systems abilities in his room, this past few days he never came out of his room except when eating, this sudden change startled his parents, but they didn't voice out their complains because from the beginning this is what they wanted, for Ran to keep away from any danger.
Ran almost modified everything in his room, the bed, the chair, the mirror, he never stopped using his Modification System. In fact, if someone slept on his bed, they might not want to wakeup anymore because after Modifying the bed, it is way softer and more comfortable than before.
In these past few days, the Village of Manta returned to its peaceful days while the Village Chief kept disappearing for an unknown reason.

Mistbound: Eternity
The world is said to be formed out of duality of man. Good and evil, right and wrong, light and dark. And with duality, comes conflict. A meaningless clash of ideals results in pointless wars. Azlan is wanderer who doesn't falls in either category. Tired and done with the redundant world, he lives his secluded life, hunting monstrosites for coin in the crumbling province of Mountaliya, situated in the land of Forsa. The premise follows Azlan as he explores the province, experiencing the culture and its people as they try to stand unshaken amidst a cold and unforgiving world. The story is a dark fantasy that is a balance of action and world building but most importantly, it follows the people going about their daily lives. The world has entered a state of stasis, there are no high stakes, no glory to be had, only a decaying realm of ice remains. Everyone awaits for Heaven's descent, an event prophesied to bring the world out of stasis, by granting the champion of the event a wish. Heaven Shall Descend. I wanted to write a high fantasy story that doesn't focuses too much on Magic and Swordfights, but rather interactions between people, a bit of politics and ideals. This is my first attempt at writing something this huge, please let me know if you see mistakes or any problems in general, so I can learn from them. (The cover picture is from the year 1818, "Wanderer Above the Mist" by Caspar David Friedrich). I also write Short stories set in the same shared universe. You can read them here: Dark Fantasy Short Stories.
