《Sun Collector》Chapter #7 Hidden Ability

My mana count ticked up as I walked home, it wasn't as if I was full I just didn't think about being hungry.

I got home and pulled my bed outside. I vowed never to enter the shade until my journey to the ability ring outpost. So that meant sleeping outside.

I didn't know how much mana it took to make an ability ring but I planned to use all the mana I saved up on one ring. The only thing that I really needed was protection.

Protection and power and maybe a little status are all a man needs. Is what someone without ambition would think to themselves. If that was all that I desired I would have become a deep-sea fisherman.

I wanted absolute protection, unlimited status, and enough resources to live twenty lives.

A strange thought occurred to me if I could somehow fling myself into the sun I would become a god.

I wasn't willing to try it, at least not right now.

I was going to build myself an outdoor living space. But for now, with a yawn, I spread out on the grass in front of my house as the sun went down and fell asleep.

When I awoke the next day I checked my arm and saw a twelve when I went to bed it was ten. I immediately brought out my journal and wrote down that it worked while I slept.

Maybe I should have bought a sleeping pill if I didn't have to worry have to about it not collecting passively. If I got over 100 mana and accidentally muttered sunspot in my sleep. There would be a little bit less of the island.

I decided that the first ability ring I was gonna make would be...I wrote it down in my journal.

Total control~ The User of this ability ring is granted several failsafe to there power and is allowed to make conditions of activating power.

I didn't know if it was possible to make something like that, but it better be possible. I knew myself and if I didn't make that ring first I was likely to set off a sunspot somewhere dumb.

Enough thinking today I was gonna build my outdoor living space. The land that my house resided on was roughly an acre. The house was built in the back with a dirt floor and no vegetation. There was a gravel path leading to my house.

That was the only symbol of status my father had saved up for. Gravel had to be taken from the mainland where heartbeasts could attack. So this path cost at least twenty sea coins.

I drew out in my journal the way in which I wanted my outdoor living set up. The journal entry looked cool.

Mirrors shining onto my new living area at all times.

That is how I was gonna set it up and I was going to set up mirrors so that the new living space was always under direct sunlight. So that I would always charge my abilities.

But there was something I needed to test out I set up all the mirrors to reflect sunlight onto the fence and stood in front of all the light.

"If you wanted to get sunburns you could just go out on the ships as a crewman" A beautiful voice assaulted my ears.

I looked around but couldn't see anyone perhaps I was going insane.

Continuing to look around I was tempted to even look in my house after not finding anyone.

Too much time spent alone I thought as I went back to my work.

Maybe this had to do with the heartbeast I had eaten. But I doubted it for starters the ability I got should be super weak and not even worth mentioning.

And the best way to get abilities was through the crafting of ability rings not through eating.

Oh well, I thought as I sat in front of the mirrors in the sunlight and stared at my arm. It was super hot and I was sweating buckets. I kept my eyes fixed on my arm and sure enough, the number was going up at a significantly faster pace. It only took 10 minutes for the number to tick up one.

"What does that number mean mister?" The beautiful voice sounded again but this time it was close to my ear.

I knew I wasn't insane there was someone who could cloak themselves on my property.

"Do you know how my family perished?" I asked in a monotone voice

I heard a shuffling of feet to my right I looked over and saw grooves being carved into the ground.

"No, but papa would probably know." She said after some hesitation.

"Then whatever you do don't ask him about me. I'll tell you what the numbers mean if you don't tell him about me." I said

"Okay, mister you got yourself a deal. Now tell me what the number means," she said

"Your kinda dumb arent you? I'm not gonna tell you. The agreement has already been made. You made the promise before I even promised."
