《Yowai - Season 1》Chapter 1 - Yowai

"As we were saying last time, there are a lot of islands on Earth," said Yowai's teacher.
"Today we will talk about an island called 'Hirta'. This island is one of the most remote islands in the world."
"So back in 1930..."
Yowai was as bored as ever, just looking out through the window. The only thing he could think of was going home as soon as possible.
When the class ended, Yowai, while his stomach growled from hunger, thought `It's time to eat lunch.` He walked out of class slowly, not using much energy.
Yowai saw someone approaching him in the hallway, saying "Hey, what's your name? I never saw you talking with anyone." It was that popular guy from Geography class, with his nice fashioned clothes and styled hair.
"Ah? Oh, it is Yowai," he answered. `What does this dude want from me? Do I Iook friendly or something?` he then thought.
"Well, that is a unique name! Are you going to the cafeteria?" the guy asked while looking at Yowai. He was full of energy, and looked very happy.
"I am. Well then, see you later." Yowai replieed after having a sourpuss. `No, seriously. Why did he only remember to talk with me now, two days before summer break? Why does he even talk to me anyway?` he thought.
"Wait! Do you want to go eat together, maybe? You seem like a nice person," the boy said, and Yowai noticed that he had a group of girls behind him, waiting for him to come.
"No, thank you. Go with your friends."
"Oh. Well, okay. See you around, Yowai." The guy left with the group of girls. It seemed like he wa supset about Yowai not wanting any social interaction.
After he left, Yowai thought to himself `Phew, that guy is pretty annoying. Why is he so energetic?" He shook his head to the sides, and finally thought `Some weird people in this school I guess.`
Yowai looked at the clock and thought "Damn, that chit chat took some time, I won't be able to eat if I won't be quick."
"What would you like to eat?" The cafeteria worker asked. "I will take the Beef and Pasta," Yowai answered in a bored tone, not even looking the worker in the eyes.
"There you go, enjoy your meal." The worker handed Yowai his food on a big, brown tray. "Thanks." Again, Yowai didn't even bother to look at the worker while saying that and taking the tray.

`Now, where is the most un-noisy place around,` he thought, looking for somewhere he could chill his mind at. "Oh there."
While Yowai was eating, he noticed a group of students harassing another pupil, insulting him and dropping his food on the floor mercilessly, laughing at him and telling him to pick the food up, then kick him while he does.
`That bullshit again? Ah well, it's not like it's my business,` Yowai thought to himself. It's not like he really didn't care, he just didn't want to get himself into that same situation.
`That pasta tastes weird as fuck,` he changed the subject in his mind. "Blah, school food."
A few hours later - Literature class. "Ladies and gentlemen, today we will start a poem called "The Road Not Taken," by Robert Frost." The teacher said, looked at the class, and kept on going.
"So, 'The Road Not Taken' is a narrative poem consisting of four stanzas of 5 lines each in iambic tetrameter, and is one of Frost's most popular works." He kept talking, and half of the students in the class didn't even listen to him. They were all into their own businesses.
"Teacher, I don't feel quite well, can I go home?" Yowai said while talking in an even lower volume than usual.
"If it's serious, go to the office and call your parents to come and take you." The teacher said. It didn't seem like he cared much as he just looked at his documents for the class while saying that.
Yowai balked his talk, then followed up saying "Ah, I guess I'm fine if that's the case. "
"Okay, open your books at page 67, the title is the name of the poem," the teacher started teaching again, completely ignoring Yowai's answer.
`So boring..."`Yowai mulled in his mind. `I want to go home already. Good thing it's the last class of the day.`
While that thought ran in Yowai's head, he looked out the window, at the sun and the sky, wondering where life will take him. What can be changed, and when will he have something exciting already in his life? That's all he could think of, but he had to study now.
Forty minutes later, the bell rang to end the class. `Phew, I'm so glad it's done,` he thought, with a little smile on his face, `Let's go home.`

When he got home he said "I'm finally here..." and yawned. "Welcome back! How was your day?" said Yowai's mother from the kitchen. She had a white colored bib around her hips.
"It was okay. I didn't feel quite well, though," Yowai answered, putting his bag close to the dining table in the process. "Is there something to eat?" he asked, then sat down the table and moaned.
"Yeah, I made Pasta. Would you like a plate?" she responded while looking for some dinnerware. "I ate some Pasta already at school, but okay."
"Here you go," his mother said while putting down the food on the table. "Oh, it tastes quite good," Yowai said after taking a bite from the food. His expression was a bit delighted.
"Thank you," his mother responded, starting another sentence afterward "So anyway, Yowai, are you looking forward to summer break?" She also chomped down a piece of the food.
"I don't know. I guess it will be the same as every year. So no, not really." Yowai said, playing with the food on his plate, thinking about how his life wasn't enjoyable at all.
"Your father and I thought about going on a vacation, would you like to come if we'll do?" She tried cheering the chat up with the news.
"Nah, I'll just stay home, you two have fun together." Yowai looked a bit upset, he was thinking of how every summer break he had was boring. Why couldn't the last one be good?
"Oh, well, that's a shame," his mother said with a troubled face. She really wanted him to come to the vacation with them, but she knew there was no way of convincing him to come.
"It's okay, I'll be fine. I have plenty of things to do by myself" Yowai said to calm her down. `Who am I kidding on? The only thing I can do is watch anime and sleep,` he thought.
"Are you sure? We won't be here for a very long time." Again, her troubled face becomes even more displeased. "Yeah, don't worry," Yowai answered.
He finished his plate in the meantime as he wanted to end the conversation as soon as possible.
"So anyway, I will go to my room now. Thanks for the food."
He stood up from his chair, and left his plate on the table.
"Don't forget to do your homework," Yowai's mother said while she started picking up the dishes.
"Okay." Yowai took his bag and casually went to his room, dragging around his bag instead of lifting it.
On his way up to the room, Yowai saw a picture dropped on the stairs. `It's the picture we took on that day... What is it doing here? Weird,` he thought. His face looked confused, he didn't understand how the picture got there
Yowai picked the picture up, entered his room and placed it on his desk.
He then turned his computer on so he could watch some Anime.
`Oh damn, I got to finish my homework in Geography first,` he remembered, looking really upset about it. He went over to his bag and took out the Geography notebook.
"Oh, that's interesting. It's a remote island since 1930 in the St Kilda archipelago," he said to himself, "Seems cool actually."
`Oh, gotta take a piss.`
While Yowai was in the bathroom, he was thinking about the island. "To be honest, that Hirta island looks like a nice place to live in. No one around, tons of free time. What else does one need?" He looked up to the ceiling. "I'd like to see it someday," he then thought.
About ten minutes later, he finished his homework and returned to his computer.
While watching his favorite show, Yowai looked at the picture that was on the stairs and saw him and his parents, ten years ago.
"I can't really remember what happened that day, but it sure does make me uncomfortable when I look at it. Better leave it in the closet."
He threw it into his messy closet, and kept going with his stuff.
A few hours later, Yowai looked at the clock and saw it was already late. `Time to sleep I guess,` he thought to himself.
Yowai tried to sleep, but he still had bad feelings about summer break.
`Now that I think about it, it's the last day of school tomorrow. I actually wonder if this time, summer break will be different.`
He thought to himself, attempting to sleep now. `Well then, goodnight`
~Midnight~
"PLEASE STOP!" Yowai yelled. "MOM, DAD, WATCH OUT! HE HAS A GUN!"
