[Welcome Challenger to Chaos.]
[You who have entered this Realm will slowly experience the effects of Chaos. Chaos is an erratic and unstable force that will corrupt the souls of all things, warping and changing them into an image of madness.]
[The longer you are exposed to Chaos the more insane you will become until you have lost all sanity, turning into a raging mad beast and barred from the Reincarnation Cycle, unable to leave the Realm and becoming one with Chaos. To suppress this Curse is very simple. Devour. By devouring life around you, the clean parts of their souls will expel the building Chaos within your body and alleviate the symptoms that occur from extended exposure to Chaos.]
[Thank you Challenger for patiently listening to my explanation of this mysterious land you have entered. I bid you farewell and good luck on your survival.]
There was a strange System Prompt that entered my head, entirely different from the System I'm used to. It appeared more life-like and mischievous, while my system felt like a lifeless machine. The first thing that I felt before anything else was the chaotic energy that poured into my body, rotting away at my insides and shaking my brain around.
[New Objective. Suppress the chaotic energy within your body through devouring other life forms. It is important you do this immediately. Not only does it stop the corruption of your soul, but the expelled Chaos Energy can be extracted and used by the System. Though only a minuscule amount of energy can be absorbed due to the forceful and chaotic nature of the energy.]
Before I could even hunt other life forms, I needed to recover first. I'm still missing an arm and half my tail!
Rustle rustle
Looking up ahead, the bushes were rustling ever so slightly. Well, they were already rustling from the wind blowing through the forest-like terrain I was resting in, I could sense that the rustle was caused by another force. Am I one to back down given my circumstances? 『That's a stupid question.』 Of course not. I lowered my body as close to the ground as I could.

Swoosh
A creature with several long tusks and a horn atop its nose emerged from the bushes and ran directly towards me. The boar-like creature was already heavily injured with many arrows sticking out from its back and scorch marks that burned half its body.
Dodging out of the way, I was about to pounce onto it and kill this stupid creature that dared to charge at me. But before I could raise my arm, a fireball was sent flying towards the boar and killed it, a final squeal left its mouth before tumbling along the grass.
"Nice shot!"
A group of people was talking in the distance carefreely as they walked towards the roasted boar. I retreated into the shadows and climbed the large tree beside me, escaping the humans' sights. 『How can a Human throw fireballs?』 I asked completely baffled. Immediately after thinking that I blushed. How was it even possible that I'm an alien?
"Roasted pork for lunch!"
"Fuck off you pig, it's my hunt and I don't plan on sharing. Besides, your corruption level is below 10%"
"Aw come on, just a little piece?"
"Go fuck yourself"
"Tsk"
While they were packing up their hunt, I discovered that they wore leather and metallic armor respectively whilst carrying various weapons on their waists.
"Hey..."
"I know."
Returning to my thoughts, I turned back to them and was shocked to see a 2-meter fireball a couple of meters in front of me. Evading the fireball, I hid within the trees around and assimilated myself in the jungle, disappearing again.
『How did they know I was there...?!』
Another fireball was sent flying into my direction, followed by several arrows clad in a glowing blue light that blocked my escape routes. Those 2 fireballs had already turned the forest around us into a sea of flames, but the two standing within those burning hot flames were unaffected by it.

I escaped the area as fast as I could while being pursued by the two maniacs that started a huge forest fire. When the arrows whizzed past me, the destruction it caused was absurd. An arrow only 30-40 centimeters long crushed boulders and split thick tree trunks in half. If those arrows were so dangerous, how the hell did that boar survive so many arrows and fireballs?
『Im glad I jumped out of the way, or else...』
I shuddered at the thought of the boar that ripped through my body in half like it was paper.
"Did you see that?!"
"Yeah, what the hell! Even a xenomorph exists."
"Shit, bro let's catch it and sell it back home."
"Alright, we'll have to stay here a little longer."
I was glad to find out that even though I was weaker than those weird humans, I was many times faster than them, easily escaping their pursuit and resting within an empty cave. How naïve of me to think that I would be able to easily hunt the lifeforms here.

"Don't we all feel, deep down, that we deserve the apocalypse?" APRIL, 2028—Global capitalism has collapsed. America has sealed itself off from the outside world, and inside its borders, a revolution rages. All it took was one incredible little machine. That machine turned into two, then four, then eight... like a virus, the replicators spread. As a work of oral history, The Good Crash features over 50 interviews with key witnesses to the events of 2027. The text is rendered in the words used by the interviewees themselves, with light editing for clarity and concision. As such, the book contains language and themes that are not appropriate for children.By capturing the voices to the people at the very root of the revolution, journalist and historian R. Vondersnitch has traced the origins and aftermath of the replicators' rapid spread. Crucially, the book also includes perspectives and testimony from those who attempted to stop the spread of the reps. "Some of these are heroes, too, in their own ways," the author writes in the book's introductory note.
