《Rise of the Forgotten》Ch. 19 On the Job

After being told that I had the next three days to do whatever, I decided to check out Nadira's ship. I went and boarded the ship to see if there might be any problems, with the help of Aldion of course. I searched every nook and cranny of the ship, Aldion scanning it the entire time, and found nothing. I would keep checking the ship until we had to depart.
I then checked the schedule and the route being taken. I also checked out the planets we were going to and the places on said planets we were going to be checking out. I then checked out the background of each of the staff and everything about the organizations involved in the guarding of Nadira. If I am doing a job then I'm doing the job right.
I spent the next three days checking out the ship and making sure nothing was wrong and checking out the venues, travel route, and personnel. I was also trying to predict where the most likely attacks would take place. The time for departure arrived.
All the ships left the port one by one with Nadiras ship somewhere in the middle. I left before her and stayed close to the ship when she departed. After all the ships were in formation we then combined the spatial warping together and went into the Sub-Space corridor. The trip was lighthearted and entertaining. The people of the retinue were generally friendly for the most part. Most were confused at me being part of the guard prepared but didn't question it. We arrived at planet after planet, each on the outer edge of the galaxy and underdeveloped. Nadira carried supplies on her ship to give to the poverty stikken or homeless.
It wasn't until we were a month into our journey that something happened. We had landed on a decently poor planet in the Edge Worlds. Nadira was speaking to the governors about their issues and how to improve their situation. The Milky Way Galaxy alone contains millions of planets that are habitable and managing them all is bound to be a big issue. They are handling the issue of governing the huge amounts of planets and their people extremely well considering. Still there are issues of corruption and neglect in the outer worlds.

I stood 2 meters away from Nadira while she was talking to the governors and was constantly keeping my senses out. Over my time being a bodyguard I've gotten used to having my senses constantly scanning and watching. I have also learned how to be discreet at scanning the surroundings and I know that only the highly sensitive would notice. I also made my UE absorption method more organized and structured. Currently I am setting up my foundation by absorbing basic dualites; like fire and water, light and dark, and things of that nature. After that I finish absorbing enough energy I then combine it all slowly and methodically to make a condensed and more primal energy. After I am able to fuse my whole physical form with the energy I will then move on to a new stage. The first stage will never end, constantly making all of my physical forms stronger and stronger while also increasing my UE reserve.
While constantly scanning I was also paying attention to the governors. Some told the truth about how their worlds are doing, while others were obviously lying. I sent a private message with the System to Nadira about who was lying. I had been doing this every time she met with the governors of the planets within the sub sectors we were visiting. We couldn't visit every planet after all. So she set up a meeting place for the sub sectors planetary governors to meet her.
The meeting place this time is an outdoors venue. The multiple other guards also at various other checkpoints and vantage points, no one was alone. It took several hours for the meeting to finish with Nadira giving advice where she could and saying she would petition for the galactic senate to increase support for the Edge Worlds. This was where the effects of UE and its various benefits showed. With normal people this meeting would have taken days, if not weeks, to talk and settle. It also showed how different techniques of absorbing affected people and how effective they could be. The vast amount of energies available had different effects that could be shown.

For example, should someone absorb fire energy they could be fierce and passionate, while also being quick to anger and impulsive or decisive. Ice on the other hand could make a person cold and distant, while being very calm and calculating. Some politicians favored Ice energy as it could make them stoic and calculating. Though this is only if you allowed the energy to affect you. Most practice letting the energy affect their minds only when they want to so as to still be themselves. Some lose themselves to the energy changing into a robotic person with no emotions.
After the meeting was finished our group left to go back to the ships, as they usually finished refueling and restocking their supplies. We took multiple hover vehicles back to the landing pads that the shuttles and my ship were at. Along the way we were attacked.
One of the front vehicles exploded, parts and burning plasma going everywhere. We didn't stop moving and moved around the wreckage. I immediately noticed multiple vehicles surrounding the convoy, each armed and filled with people. We stopped having no way to continue forward. As soon as we stopped shots were immediately fired out to our convoy. The vehicle I was in with Nadira was in the center surrounded by the remaining convoy. The guards returned fire. Lasers and heated plasma filled the area. I got out and fired my pistol. Concentrated light UE tore through people and vehicles alike.
The assailants quickly died wherever I fired my pistol. Within a minute most of the attackers were dead, the remaining ones tried to flee. I immediately fired Ion blasts at them, stunning them. After they were either dead or stunned I went and made sure the stunned ones couldn't move or kill themselves. Soon after the police arrived. I could scan 2 kilometers around me and I didn't see any police coming to help. The police might be involved. I quickly hid one of the important looking attackers in Nadiras vehicle and made sure to have the rest of them scanned and photographed.
I also planted a tracking and recording device on each of them. I would know what happened to each of them. After the police took them away and finished questioning us we headed to the shuttles. We left the planet after making sure that the incident was being thoroughly investigated. We had a schedule to keep and time waited for no one.

A Broken Kingdom
After fighting a diseased ancient silver dragon, Oskar must solve a mystery that leads him halfway across the world in pursuit of answers. This story is based on a character from a tabletop roleplaying game. I realized that I'd spent quite a lot of time planning out his backstory, and decided to go ahead and write some of it down. Then I wrote more, and more, and realized that I had a lot more than any sane RPG player should write about their character...

Black Meridian
Here's a fact about humans: They are intelligent, versatile creatures with a tendency for murder and vice. Zeta, a swordsman from a villa at the summit of Greenwich Mountain, has heard many stories about the "Sigma World," the colloquial term for any and all things superpowered in the world. He's also heard of the many tragedies, as well as the many wonders humankind has created in its history, even if he has yet to see it in person. Following the philosophy of his teacher, Gin Kagan, Zeta intends to become a "Servant of Humanity," in an endeavor to protect mankind from its gravest threats, from power-hungry sigma-users, but most importantly, from itself. He's going to need a lot of allies to pull that off, even if he doesn't understand that just yet. This story is originally published at www.sigmacentral.wordpress.com. Earth Exodus
Elliot isn't the first one taken, he was the last, or one of them at least. Careless divines, gods, or higher powers had been snatching humans through numerous means over the years. Those that returned brought minor tokens of their previous power if anything at all. Over time unrestrained magic became commonplace on earth. Which must have brought attention to us. The earth is ravaged by increasing levels of rogue magics, divines, and a war over resources and experience. Eventually resulting in a mass exodus of the remaining powerless humans by a coalition of gods. Now translocated to Vauthia where everyone has been given a path to power. They're met with an unfortunate reality. They've only been rescued from one dying world to be tasked with saving the new one. While at the same time they're apparently supposed to compete with one another. Meanwhile Elliot wasn't just given a path to power. He was given a choice. The opportunity for true power is offered. When as he reaches for it the power isn't all it's cracked up to be.Systemless in a world where everyone else has access to one Elliot must grapple with a multitude of problems from without and within. The 'gods' might actually be incompetent, uncaring, downright malicious, or all three. His power is constantly three steps behind those who chose the quick path to power. There's also the antisocial tendencies he's brought with him from earth. Can he trust the 'god' who seems to be taking him under their wing? Will he be able to catch up to his fellow earthlings who're ever increasing in power? Is it possible he may just break out of his shell along the way?*** What to expect ***The initial start will be quite slow, building the setting, history, and individuals involved. There is a small bit of progression in these early chapters for the MC, but more along the lines of figuring out how their systemless power works. though once the story gains traction it won't stop.*** Don't tell Elliot, but ***Elliot hates to admit it but he's very clearly antisocial. Not to mention troubles with thinking that stem from several un-diagnosed disorders he'd rather believe don't exist.*** Image Copyright *** //In this satellite image released by Copernicus Sentinel imagery, 2020 twitter page dated Dec. 31, 2019, shows wildfires burning across Australia.
