All Leon could think about the next morning was you. He woke up early and rushed up and down the house, all because he wanted to see you. It's been a few days since he's met you but there was just this.... feeling in his chest that said that this was right. Vince was extremely curious, being too familiar with these signs.
"What's gotten you so happy in the morning?" Vince asked, putting his cup of coffee down on the table. A bit of pink dusted Leon's cheek.
"It's nothing," He squeaked. He didn't want Vince to know about his embarrassing crush.
Vince looked at Leon curiously but decided not to speak anymore. He knew the signs - he remembered when he was like this back in high school when he met Lea. It seems like he fell deeper and deeper for her every day, even now. The pit that she pulled him out of; it was the best that that's ever happened to Vince. Speaking of his wife, he turned to get a good look on the sleeping figure on the couch. She had gone down to say goodbye to her son but ended up falling asleep instead.
Lea's husband grabbed a medium sized blanket and draped it over her. Wordlessly stroking her hair, he kissed her forehead and murmured something when bending down next to Lea on the couch.
"Thanks, love," She said softly in response to whatever he had said.
Vince went to the kitchen and started creating hot drinks for everyone. He gently stirred Lea's coffee first and added one packet of sugar; Lea's favourite. While preparing the drinks, he observed his son bouncing up and down excitedly like a five-year old kid.
"Leon," He called out, having Leon come to a halt. "Your drink."
Leon took the drink from his dad and took a tiny sip from it to check the temperature. It was sweet. He decided that this was the best moment to bringing the amusement park outing up.
"Er, dad... could I possibly go out with my friend? This week?" Leon scratched his arms. His father glanced a bit surprisingly at him before giving him a nod. Leon guessed it was because Vince always thought he was a hermit.
"How much money?" Vince asked him, pulling up his wallet.
"I-I don't need a lot. Just enough for the ticket and the food."
Vince handed him some cash and shooed him out. "This money is for the amusement park. Now go to school." Vince shooed Leon out.
"Thank you!" Leon squeaked.
Rushing out, he looked back at the house and saw his father walking towards Lea, handing her her cup of coffee and starting to drinking his own.
As the shy boy was walking to where he usually went, he saw the school bus pause at his stop. Leon sped up his pace so he could get in. But not even a second later, the bus zoomed off again! The shy boy checked his phone to see if he was on time. He was early! What the hell, the bus driver purposely missed his stop again!
"W-wait!" He managed to chase the bus for a few minutes but to no avail. He's gonna be late again. Leon already had enough strikes because the bus would always ignore him. What is Leon gonna do? He almost collapsed on the sidewalk, lips trembling at people's treatment towards him. Why does it have to be him? He's so sick and tired of this behaviour, but he couldn't do anything about it. All because he wasn't wealthy!

That would mean he'd need to run like last time. Although Leon would still be a bit late, it was better than being extremely late. Unfortunately, he'd be drenched in sweat by the time he got there. It did not feel good. The phone inside his pocket vibrated, indicating that someone texted him. Leon opened his phone, desperate for any help at all.
Y/N: Do you need a ride?
It was you! He texted back almost immediately. His fingers glided across the screen swiftly and easily navigated the keys on his small phone.
Leon: Yes, please.
Y/N: Okay, hop on! I can see you from here.
Leon: Where?
"We're in the car!" Your voice shouted from his left.
We...? Looking around, Leon found you sitting in a convertible car waving at him. There was a cheerful blonde girl next to her who seemed to be smiling widely at him. Leon opened the car door and buckled his seat-belts.
"Y/N... W-who's this?" Leon fiddled with his fingers shyly. He never liked new people. Of course, you were an exception. You were like an angel who made her way out of heaven just to help someone as weak and helpless as him.
"This is my best friend, Lizzy!" Lizzy popped out from the front seat, clasping her hands in his and shaking them energetically.
"Hi, Leon! Y/N has told me a lot about you! Especially how cute you are!" Lizzy winked at Leon. You started blushed. You told Lizzy not to talk about this...!
"H-hello..." Leon looked down, thinking about your friend. What an awfully cheerful girl. What does she want with you?
You grinned while fiddling your fingers awkardly. You were happy that your friends were bonding. Yes, you didn't have a lot of friends except her and Leon. But there was a small part of you that was jealous, scared. Jealous that your new friend would fall for her. Scared that she'll take him away.
'They seemed to be getting along quite well.' You thought enviously as Leon's mouth twitched up at what Lizzy said. You waved the thought away, scolding yourself at being jealous of Lizzy's likability. As a friend, that wasn't very cool of you.
Lizzy was rich, confident and beautiful - everything you wanted to be. Her luscious blonde hair flowed with the wind and her enchanting blue eyes shone in the sunlight. Meanwhile you were pretty average, with E/C eyes and H/C hair - though, you thought that your F/F looked pretty good. Particularly, you had an inferiority complex when it came to your love life which was currently non-existent. Every person you were attracted to always fell for Lizzy in the end.
'It isn't her fault,' You reminded yourself, 'I just wasn't enough.'
Either way, you soon stopped pursuing your crushes as you saw how many of them were only friendly to you because they wanted to get close to the energetic blonde. You assumed that Leon was no different. No matter what personality someone may have, they always go running to your friend because she is simply that likable.
Your attention went back on your friend and crush. It seems like Lizzy was doing all the talking because all Leon was doing was nodding in agreement. You giggled. He was so cute.
"Why don't we do this every day? That way, you don't have to take the bus with those mean jerks!" Lizzy suggested after hearing Leon's explanation of chasing the bus.
"I-I'd like that, thank you." Leon was happy. Riding with Y/N everyday? Who would pass that up?

As Lizzy continued to drive, you brought up the situation a few days ago with Leon. You talked to her about her friends' treatment towards Leon and asked if she could discuss it with them. Lizzy nodded every few seconds you spoke and gave her reply.
"I promise I'll talk to them about it, but next time can you like, not do that?"
Your face heated up in embarrassment and you asked, "Why?"
"This might damage my relationship with them. You're my BFF and whatever you say represents me as well. I'm not trying to be mean, okay honey? I'm just sayin'." Lizzy smiled at you.
"But they were-"
"Let them have some fun while they're young alright? If it doesn't concern us then we don't need to help."
"Right. Sorry, Lizzy." You submissively shrunk on the car seat. Leon watched all this unfold, observing the nature of your friend. He definitely didn't like her.
"It's fine. Just don't do it again."
Classes passed quickly with you furiously scribbling down notes and Lizzy sat beside you relaxing and listening to the teacher. She claimed her notes sucked and always used yours whenever she needed notes them. You didn't mind because she was your best friend after all. Plus, sometimes she'd gift you with cute things or coupons to restaurants.
Next was maths. After the lesson ended, Mr. Davis told you to see him after class.
"So, Y/N. Did you arrange tutoring sessions with Leon yet? It said that he agreed but I just wanted to check up on the progress you two have been making. " That's right! You'd forgotten about it! You face-palmed.
"Uh, we haven't discussed the dates yet. I'll talk to him now, sir." Mr. Davis nodded.
"Okay then, off you go to break." He shooed you off.
You went out the door, seeing Lizzy and Leon waiting for you and chatting together.
'They seemed to get along more than you and Leon ever did.' Shaking that thought off, you greeted them. 'Stop it, Y/N. You're meant to be Lizzy's friend for goodness sake.'
"Sup guys, let's go eat!" You slung your arms around the both of them and made your way to the canteen to buy some food.
You found an empty table and sat there. Grabbing the cookie you just bought you happily took a bite out of it. Lizzy had an apple and Leon... Well, Leon had a small granola bar. You furrowed your eyebrows. Was that even enough for a growing boy? You gave your bitten cookie to the brown haired boy.
"Want some?" Leon shook his head.
"It's fine, I don't usually eat at lunch," He thought.
"No, seriously, it's fine. I'm not hungry anyways. Just turn the cookie upside down if you don't want my saliva." You made an excuse before forcing him to grab it.
Leon reluctantly took your cookie and did what you told him to do. 'Wow... Y/N bit into this cookie. I should keep it for safe keeping. She cares for me so much... Does she like me? Why can't I just talk to her and admit my feelings? What if she loves me but is waiting for me to confess? Should I confess? Ugh, I'm overthinking aga-
"Leon? Leon! Snap out of it!" Lizzy snapped her fingers in front of his face and you stared at him with concerned eyes.
"H-huh? What were you saying?"
You repeated what you said before. "I said, what do you think about tutoring me every Monday, Wednesday and Friday after school? Mr. Davis sent me an e-mail saying you agreed. I just forgot to mention it. Sorry if I dragged you in this without permission." You looked down, hoping he wouldn't be offended.
"O-of course! Y-You're my f-friend, right? I'd gladly tutor you a-any day. I'll go w-wherever as long as y-you're there with m-me!" He stammered. You smiled at him, very grateful that he didn't mind. Just another reason why you liked him...
"Thank you so much!" You hugged him for deciding to tutor you and mostly because you wanted to. You sniffed his shirt a bit. The smell of his shirt enveloped you as the natural smell of his home entered your nostrils. It smelt so comforting. You wanted to bathe in his scent forever. As for Leon, he was hoping you couldn't feel his heart hammering loudly.
'Oh my gosh she's hugging me act natural-' Smoke practically blew out of his ears and he felt his whole face heat up.
Sadly, it ended shortly when you pulled away. You blushed a bit at what you did. You hope this didn't make it awkward between the two of you later. Looking at Leon, it turns out he was blushing as well. You wish you could hold him closer and longer...
"Guys, it's almost time for class. We wouldn't want to be late, do we?" Lizzy interrupted your moment. Leon's eyes darkened for a fraction of a second. How dare she interrupt his precious time with you?
You nodded, "You're right. Let's go."
And off you guys went.
For the rest of the day, you decided to half-ass your notes and mess around with Lizzy, making the day pass even more quickly.
"Do we need to drop you off too?" Lizzy asked when Leon met up with you and her.
He nodded, "Yes please."
And after that day, it became a daily routine to pick up Leon and drop him off near his neighborhood every day when he wasn't tutoring you. It was very suspicious to you that he refused to let you see his house and told you guys to drop him off around the area instead. Every day, he met up with you at the place you guys first met, waiting there for you and Lizzy to pick him up. Sometimes, you sat in the front and other times Leon did. Lizzy was always the driver, as it was her car.
Every odd weekday, you and Leon would stay behind and go to the library to study quadratics. He was a great teacher; he provided the perfect materials and explained quadratics in an easy way for you to understand. The intelligent boy gave you some exercises and explained the solution if you ever messed up.
Both of you looked forward to each session with each other and you guys bonded over those sessions. You learned each other's favourite colors, previous pets, and books. Leon got more comfortable with you and soon your relationship was to the level where he be a 50 cm radius around you without blushing or nearly fainting.
"Ohhhhhh, so that's how you do it..." You mumbled. With Leon teaching you, quadratics became easy and you've aced almost every surprise quiz Mr. Davis has given to your class.
Throughout the month, Leon and Lizzy have also gotten closer. Sometimes, you uneasily felt like they were closer than you ever were with them. It was just like primary school. Back then, it felt like everyone would crowd around Lizzy, being friendly to become closer to her whether she was pretty or rich. You were her friend too, yet you were easily pushed out of her circle of friends for a while.
During that period of time, you felt isolated and always sat by yourself. You didn't think Lizzy ever noticed how depressed you were when you were pushed away. It was like being with someone you love only to have strangers pull you back and replace you with them. And that they were okay or didn't notice you being replaced. It was only after a few weeks when she apologized about not spending time with you and your friendship was mended.
Nobody has ever liked you in that way before. It was probably your awkward and slightly timid personality that wards everyone off. A big ball of sadness and jealousy hit you.
'I'm so selfish... I should be happy for them.' After all, Lizzy has stuck with you through the thick and the thin. Most of the time. You smiled bitterly, watching them walk together in front of you. They looked so happy. You tried to hold back your tears, 'It's just a crush, you'll get over it eventually.'
"Y/N! Are you coming?" Lizzy hollered. You realized how far they got without you. You must've been walking really slowly. Catching up to them, you watched some yellow leaves slowly fall off the trees you pass.
'...After all, I'm just the supporting side character anyways.'
