《INSANITY》21 | rooftop

I stood there unbothered until I noticed Moretti gaining some speed. Shit.
Quickly, I gathered the skirt of my dress in my hands and began to run away from the man of my dreams. I was very used to running in heels from previous missions.
I went up the next flight of stairs that I laid eyes on, which were separated from the rest of the party and completely empty. The only sound I heard was the hurried clinking of my heels against the marble flooring as I tried my best to avoid Moretti.
This time, the stairs did not lead to another balcony, but instead a steel door. Without hardly any hesitation, I threw the door open and found myself on the roof.
The wind blew rapidly, moving my dress along with it. The air was bitingly cold tonight and you could hear the sounds of the street now.
But all I was worried about was Moretti.
I muttered to myself, "Please don't follow me. Please don't follow me."
Within seconds, the roof door whipped open to reveal Moretti.
"Motherfu-" I said.
"Where," he took a deep breath, "the hell did you think you were going?" He sounded ragged from running.
"As far away from you as humanly possible," I smiled.
"You made me chase you." He narrowed his eyes.
I clenched my teeth, "Maybe you should've just kept dancing with Blondie, hm?"
He looked away and laughed. "You've got to be joking."
I stomped closer towards him, the wind continuing to blow both of our hair around. "No, I want you to go back down there and dance with whatever fucking woman you want to."
His nose scrunched up and his face twisted. "The only woman I want to dance with is you! Y-You selfish girl!" He yelled, obviously frustrated with me, "Why can't you understand that?" He yelled so hard he winced, his hand moving to his still-injured side.

I leaned back, taking in his words. I watched his face intently, making sure he was still alright, even if I was mad at him. He recovered.
He continued. "And why did you run from me? You get jealous over me but you don't want me? Is that it?" He kept yelling.
I got angry once again, "Cant you just leave me the hell alone?" I gritted my teeth at him.
Suddenly he calmed down and laughed at himself. "No. No I can't actually." He rubbed his face stressfully, pitching the bridge of his nose.
I huffed and turned around, hoping he'd leave so I could go back to pretending I didn't care about him.
"I know what you did." He spoke.
I didn't say anything. I waited for him to continue.
"In the hospital. I know you stayed in my room."
I kept my gaze on the street in front of me.
"And I know how you kissed me."
He slowly came up behind me. I could feel the material of his suit brushing up against my skin, he was so close. His hot breath cooled the goosebumps on the back of my neck as he towered over me.
He brushed his hand against mine, so lightly it was as if he was hardly touching it.
"I can't," my voice broke.
His body went on full alert after hearing that.
I had never cried in front of anybody.
He gently grabbed my face and turned me around slowly. "You can't what?"
The tears started rushing out faster. "I can't be this weak around you."
He crouched down so our faces were right by each other's. "Bella, I could never see you as weak." He wiped a tear off with his thumb as he slide it smoothly over my cheek.

"You're the scariest woman I know. And you've met my mother, so you know that means something." We both laughed lightly.
He grew serious once again.
"So please, let me in. I'm begging you." He murmured in my ear as he leaned in towards me.
I nodded, "Okay." I can do this. I can let him in.
He gently grasped my cheeks in between his hands and pulled my face in towards his as our lips finally met for a deep kiss.
The wind blew my red dress all around, the skirt wrapping around Moretti's legs.
I lifted my hand to his scruffy cheek and pulled him in as much as I could.
I didn't ever want to let go.

Maxwell had decided that he had just wasted the last five months of his life on a path that would never work for him in life. Deciding to just give up on the finals, he loads up the new game he just bought for the exams. He didn't expect to end up trapped inside like all the shows he'd seen in his youth. It didn't help that his character was basically on Hardcore mode being a Dark Elf Village Leader in the middle of a human supremacy kingdom that went in every direction for hundreds of leagues. Without knowing how dying might affect him, he steels himself to grow his village into the new power in the area. Of course, that's easier said than done when a blood-thirsty dungeon appears to be on a warpath with everything in the area.

When she meets Gabriel, the boy whose family has moved in next door, it seems that she has made a new friend. But all is not well in the village. Disciple Phobia, (pictured on the cover) an exceptionally evil spirit and a villain from one of my dystopian universes, manages to break through into Anya's world and her nefarious agenda of universal destruction threatens everyone.
