《Abused Mate》Chapter 1

Sophie Owen
"WHERE THE FUCK IS MY BREAKFAST, YOU BITCH?" My eyes widened as my dad's voice boomed through the house. I glanced at the wall clock to see it was 06:00am. Shit.
I should have been up hours before he woke up with his breakfast ready and the house cleaned. Usually, I have no problem waking up early and finishing my tasks, but we've just moved to a new city two days ago and the jet lag hasn't worn off.
Shit, if he's going to beat me up, I hope he bought me more foundation to cover up the bruises because I'm running out. My bedroom door slammed open and the strong stench of alcohol whiffed through my small room. "What are you still doing in bed?" He said angrily and marched his way towards me.
"Uh, I-I'm s-sorry I-" He cut me off by punching me in the stomach, knocking the air out of my lungs.
"I don't give a fuck, this is your first and final warning, I never want to see you slacking AGAIN. Now hurry the fuck up and make me something to eat. Oh and here," he threw a Walmart plastic bag at my head. A hard surface slams onto my head and I open the bag to see a bunch of drugstore foundations that were in glass containers. "you better put that shit on or I will hurt you." And with that, he left my room, stumbling on his feet.

After making him breakfast I ran upstairs to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I didn't have to shower since I showered last night before bed. I walked into my bedroom and opened my almost-empty closet and pulled out my old black hoodie and my black leggings and put them on. It was extremely hot outside to wear my thick hoodie but I couldn't risk anyone seeing my scars or bruises.

"Let's go, bitch." Yelled my dad from downstairs. I sighed heavily and grabbed my back pack and sprinted down the stairs, quickly putting on my worn out black converse.
My dad was dressed up pretty nicely, but that was only so no one can be suspicious. After a short and silent five minute drive we finally arrived at my new school. My dad parked the car recklessly and quickly got out of it. He ran to the passenger side and opened my door and grabbed my arm roughly to pull me out. "Now you better shut your mouth and let me do all the talking." He whispered angrily I nodded and he smiled, satisfied. He loosened his grip on my arm and smiled slightly when he caught a couple of students staring.
We walked to the front of the school and made our way inside. A lot of people were staring, I wouldn't blame them, usually parents don't accompany their high school kids during their first day of school.
We made our way to the school's office to find an old lady sitting behind a desk who looked to be as old as my dad. He smiled at her brightly and she beamed. "Oh hello." She smiled back, flirtatiously. My dad had that effect on most woman. Some say he's very handsome and charming, but if only they knew of his shitty and abusive ways.
"Hello..." He trailed off not knowing what her name is. "Karla." She said happily.
"Hello Karla." My dad replied to her huskily. Kill me. "My daughter here, Sophie Owens needs her schedule." He said to the still smiling lady. "Oh, of course." She said quickly and rummaged through her drawers, looking for my schedule then handing it to me. I was about to thank her when I remembered my dad's rules.

"Karla dear," My father started. "is there any way you can inform all her teachers that she won't be doing any talking? The death of her mother really affected her when she was young and so she became mute shorty after..."
Lies. But that's the story he always tells to save himself from getting caught.
"I'm so sorry for your loss, and of course, whatever you please Mr. Owen." I swear her eyes lit up when she heard that my mother's dead. Disgusting.
"Thank you darling, well I better get going and let little Sophie go to class." He grabs my arm again and rushed me out of the office. The halls were empty so my dad found the perfect opportunity to slam me against the walls. "Speak to anyone and I will hurt you. Make any friends and I will hurt them. Am I understood?" He glares darkly at me. I nod frantically, begging him with my eyes to let go before anyone sees. "And remember, we're a perfect family, right?"
As if.
"Yes father." I agreed. "Good," he saw a teacher walk down the hall and he immediately let go of me.
"Have a great day at school, darling." He said and kissed my forehead.
Ew.
When the teacher disappeared down the hall, he slammed me to the wall again and made his way out.
