《Come Back To Me, Kiwi.》Chapter 75 - Aurora and Rain

Kiara was definitely made out for this motherhood thing. We were two months in and she knew every little thing about taking care of Aurora. I, on the other hand, had trouble with getting used to life with a baby.

Aurora was the little queen that ruled the family at the moment. She was feeling a little sick at night, and I had just woken up the morning after and gone to her nursery to find the entire family sleeping all over the floor in there. My baby was sound asleep in her little crib, without a care in the world about her crazy family.

I walked over to her and I checked her temperature to find it was back down to normal and she wasn't in danger of a fever anymore. Eleanor must've brought home something from school. But she was feeling normal herself.

I picked my peaceful, sleeping angel up out of her crib and carried her to the rocking chair. I just wanted to hold her for a little while. Once I sat down, I noticed her waking up. I stroked her cheek and watched the little yawn that she let out.

"Good morning, Sunshine." I chuckled, kissing her little hand. She looked exactly like Kiara except for the hair. She still had those dark newborn eyes though, so I wasn't sure what colour they'd come out to be. I was hoping they'd be green, but she was perfect regardless.

She looked up at me and started making weird expressions.

"Is my little troublemaker needing a diaper change? Is that what's going on, Cutiepie?" I asked, carrying her over to the changing table and stepping over Ari and Micah's legs. Mia and Mila were sleeping on top of their father's bag and he had an arm thrown over his wife.

The number of little families within this big one was beginning to grow now. But I loved how all it took was one of our kids needing something and everyone gathered to take care of them. If Eleanor was a little sick, we'd all be gathered in her room by her bed. That's just how this family functioned. We were there for each other no matter what.

I was so happy that my kid would grow up in such an amazing environment. My little Angel was already spoiled and pampered like the princess she was. As I changed Aurora's diaper, she started babbling happily, making me smile down at her.

"Are you trying to tell Dada something?" I chuckled.

My angel started smiling and kicking a little. She was constantly making babbling and cooing sounds lately.

"Aw, that's my beautiful princess. Already trying to tell daddy how she feels, huh?" I laughed. "Are you my happy, baby? Daddy's happy little princess?"

She smiled and looked at me as she made another weird sound. Eventually the cute little gurgles and the smiles turned into frowns and fussing.

"Oh no, I think there's a hungry little princess who wants her momma, isn't there?" I said, picking her back up and going to the bedroom in search of Kiara.

My poor wife was exhausted. But for her own mental peace, I wanted her to wake up and feed Aurora before she started crying.

"Hey, Kiara..." I whispered.

There was no response at all.

"Come back to me, Kiwi." I whispered, leaning in and kissing my wife on her forehead. I liked using that phrase because she liked it. It also decreased my chances of getting smacked in the face.

"Vivi, not now." She said softly, turning in bed and snuggling into the warmth of the sheets.

"Aurora's hungry, baby. If you could just feed her so she doesn't cry, I think that would be best." I said softly.

Kiara groaned and then sat up, taking Aurora and shushing her.

"Hey, hey. Momma's here. No need to cry, Angel." She said softly, taking Aurora from me.

While Aurora was nursing, I went to the kitchen to make my wife some breakfast. It was the least I could do. I felt a little helpless sometimes. I wished I could do more for Aurora. But her momma was the one who could feed her and the one who had the magical ability to put her to sleep.

I found that just trying to make life easier for Kiara was the way to go. I couldn't do much, but a happy momma will help me have a happy baby.

I brought Kiara her favourite alternative to the tea she used to drink every morning. It was just some warmed up milk with a spoon of honey in it. She wanted to stop consuming caffeine until Aurora was done with breast milk.

Kiara drank her milk while our baby did the same and she let me sit behind her and hold her while Aurora was feeding.

"Are you still tired?" I asked Kiara.

"Yeah. She was super fussy last night. But she finally fell asleep when Mabel started singing to her." Kiwi told me.

"The entire family is just in the nursery sleeping now." I laughed.

"Where's Ellie?" Kiara asked.

"She's there in Romeo's lap on one of the armchairs." I chuckled.

"And Mia and Mila?" She asked.

"Last I saw they were on top of Micah." I laughed.

Kiara chuckled and she relaxed against me.

"Can I just sleep? Hold her up for me." Kiara sighed.

"Yeah. Sleep, Kiwi. I'm sorry to wake you up, Sweetheart." I said.

"It's ok. I think I need to start using the pump, that way you can just feed her even if I'm sleeping. Is that ok with you?" She asked me.

"Of course it is. Even if I wasn't, it's not my choice, baby. But I definitely do like this idea, I'd love to help out more and I don't like waking you up to feed her." I said softly.

"I'm just nervous, the pump looks scary and I feel like it might hurt. I'm not sure if I'll even have anything in me to pump. She's usually getting all her milk on demand." Kiara sighed.

"It's ok. You can talk to Momma about it. I'm sure she could offer some advice." I said, kissing my exhausted wife on her forehead.

We suddenly heard the rain pattering against the window a lot harder than it was before. Kiara smiled and rested against me.

"I like the rain." She smiled, still relying on me to hold Aurora up.

Taking care of our little angel was a joy. She was so precious. Always smiling at everyone.

"Ok, she's done. Take her." Kiara said, fixing her clothes and then curling back up in the sheets as I moved over with Aurora.

I kissed my wife's sweet lips before I got up and took my daughter away from her so that she could finish her sleep.

I held Aurora to my chest and burped her as I paced around the little kitchen, waiting for my boiled eggs. Before the eggs were ready, Aurora was sound asleep, so I took her back to her nursery to get her in her crib for the time being.

A couple of hours later, Romeo was walking into the kitchen with Aurora in his arms and Ellie walking behind him.

"Do you think I could put Juliet beside Kiara?" Remi asked me.

"Of course. Kiara won't mind." I nodded.

"Alright, are you done eating, do you wanna take your daughter?" He asked me.

"Is my princess awake?" I asked, taking Aurora from her uncle.

"She sure is. She was making all sorts of sounds and waking her Uncle Remi and her cousin Nora up." Remi laughed.

"Am I gonna have a talkative little girl? Is that what's going to happen?" I asked, kissing my baby on her little hand when she wrapped her fingers around one of mine.

"Firefly? Can I sit in your lap?" Ellie asked me.

"Sure thing, Little Whiz. Just let Daddy go put Momma in bed and I'll let him take Aurora so you and I can hang out for a while." I told her.

"Uncle Firefly? Do you think that you're always gonna be busy with work and Aurora?" My niece asked me.

"No. Why?" I asked her.

"I used to go to the park with you, but now you always take care of Aurora and you always go to work and we don't go to the park anymore." She said to me.

I saw Romeo carrying his girl to my bedroom and he put her in bed with Kiara. Then he came out and he picked Ellie up.

"Daddy, I love you." She said to him, kissing his cheek as he sat down.

"I love you more thank you can imagine, Nora. What do you say we go out today? We can go have a beach day and get some ice cream, sound good?" He asked her.

"Yeah that's fun." She nodded her head with a smile.

"Good. Then let's do it. I don't have any meetings today. So, it's Daddy-Daughter day." He said to her.

"What about Firefly? I wanna hang out with Firefly, too." Ellie told her father.

"Why doesn't Uncle Vidal take you to work with him tomorrow and show you what he does?" Romeo said, knowing that work and helping Kiara with Aurora were the only things I could handle at the moment.

"Yeah! That's a good idea. Do you want to do that?" I asked her.

"Ok. But promise you'll get me a slushy?" She asked me.

"Only if your momma gives us permission. We can even go out for lunch together." I said to her.

"Yeah!" She giggled.

"Alright, then you go out with Daddy today and prepare yourself for a long, hard day of work. Alright?" I asked her.

"Yes!" She cheered.

"You still wanna hang out with me for a little while?" I asked her.

"Yes." She giggled.

"Alright. How about you go let Daddy get ready and you roll over that little bed for Aurora?" I asked her.

"Ok." She said, running off to get the little rolling bed. She rolled it over and then she climbed onto the couch and stood over my shoulder, watching me place Aurora in the bed. As soon as I pulled away from the bed, Ellie was in my lap, looking down at Aurora in fascination.

"She's cute." Ellie giggled.

"Isn't she?" I asked.

"Yeah. I'm happy she has fire hair." Ellie laughed.

I laughed along with her, kissing her on the cheek.

Ellie and I hung out. She told me about school and she told me about some of the weird kids in her class. I made her some breakfast and then Aunt Sophie woke up and came to take over breakfast so I could watch Aurora.

Eventually, Juliet and Romeo took Ellie out, as promised, and then Ari and Micah went home to get the girls changed. Theo and Mabel stayed, but my grandparents went to the villa to get some real sleep. Momma and Dad checked in on Aurora before they headed off to work in the city. And soon everyone else was leaving as well. Rosie, Mabel, Theo and Evan were the only ones left.

When Kiara finally decided that she'd had enough sleep, she came to the kitchen and she picked Aurora up.

"How's Momma's little angel?" Kiara asked, cradling our little girl in her arms and dancing around the kitchen while I tried to get her to relax in a chair so I could feed her.

She fed Aurora again and she put her to sleep and everything, and then she decided she wanted to let out some of her energy. She dragged me out into the rain and grabbed my hands, taking me to the field near our cabin. She was barefoot and so was I. We were fully clothed in the pouring rain.

"Dance with me, baby." I said.

She giggled and took my hand, letting me spin her around as the rain soaked us.

She really did love the rain. She danced around with me and kissed me and honestly, even such a simple little expression of her love meant the world to me.

We splashed around in the mud and the puddles everywhere, getting dirty and messy. Mabel and Rosie were watching us and calling us crazy. But there was something special about not caring how muddy and soaked you are and just enjoying the moment together.

We had a baby now and for the past two months the only thing we could do is take an hour to ourselves to just sleep. We couldn't even make it to the beach that was literally right outside our door. So, this was special for us.

After we danced in the rain, sang to each other and just splashed around in the mud, we went inside and we took the longest shower we'd been able to take since Aurora was born. Mabel and Theo promised to take care of Aurora so we could have some time to relax.

It had been an interesting two years of my life. In just a few weeks, it would be Kiara and I's first wedding anniversary. It would then be two years since I'd met her. Since the day I went from being absolutely miserable to being mesmerized by my gorgeous wife.

In these two years, I'd gone from a man who could barely look after himself, working a job he hated and feeling miserable without a woman by my side, to a man who had his dream job, with a gorgeous wife and a daughter. I had the family I always wanted, a wife better than any woman I could've dreamed of having and the cutest little angel.

Life definitely hadn't gone the way I'd planned it, all throughout this journey, unexpected things had happened to me and I couldn't really control much. I went through obstacles, hardships and lots of stress. But here I was now with an amazing life, one I wouldn't give up for anything.

I learned a lot through this experience. I'd realized that when people tell you things will work out eventually, they aren't lying. The important thing is not to give up. Things seemed horrible and super stressful for me all throughout my university degree and then my first few years of working at that company. I did not enjoy that time in my life. But as soon as Kiara came into my life, things started looking up and I got my dream life. I suppose you just have to try your best to be a decent person.

Regardless of how I got to this point in my life, I was happy that I'd gotten what I wanted and I wouldn't waste it. I couldn't wait to raise and protect my daughter and live a happy life with my gorgeous wife. My beautiful wife who came to me broken, with barely any life in her eyes and now brought everything around her to life with just one look from her kiwi-coloured eyes.
