《Come Back To Me, Kiwi.》Chapter 22 - Sick Kitty and Feeding Bunnies

I heard Vivi talking to his cousins about someone called Blaze, I eventually realized it was one of the kitties.

"Kitty is sick?" I pouted once Theo and Evan left.

"Yeah. They think so." Vivi told me.

I was suddenly sad.

"Vivi, I wanna see the kitty! Please!" I begged him.

"It's dangerous, Baby." Vidal told me.

"No... kitty!" I pouted, watching his resolve breaking.

This pouting was very powerful. I liked how easily it got me what I wanted.

"Ok. But you have to promise to stay very, very close to me. You're not allowed to touch him or do anything unless you ask me and I give you permission. Is that understood, Kiwi?" He asked me.

"Yes! Now let me see Kitty!" I demanded and he chuckled, taking a key out of his pocket and unlocking the huge lock in the large metal gate. He pushed me behind him and grabbed my hand. I followed him into the big area where there was a kitty nearby. He led me through the area and then he took me into another room with a huge kitten.

"Kitty!" I squealed.

"Unbelievable. He's bigger than you and you still think he's cute." Vivi chuckled.

Well, that isn't very odd. Vidal is bigger than me and I think he's the cutest.

"Vivi, I wanna touch him!" I said, bouncing up and down in excitement.

"Hey. Woah! No bouncing just yet, Kiwi." He chuckled.

"Please! Please! I wanna touch the kitty!" I squealed.

"Ok. Calm down, baby." He said, trying to calm my happiness and excitement.

I nodded my head vigorously and stopped jumping and squealing.

"Ok. Come here." He said, kneeling in front of the kitty.

I knelt down behind him and he smiled at me, taking my hand and offering it to the kitty. I felt the kitty sniffing my hand a little bit and then I felt a really rough wet thing scrape my hand.

"Ouch! Kitty bit me." I giggled.

"He licked you. He didn't bite you." Vivi told me.

"I wanna pet him." I smiled happily, pushing Vivi away.

I saw Vivi freak out a little but Kitty liked me. Vivi just didn't understand yet. I sat in front of the big kitty, letting him sniff me and lick me with his rough tongue, it kind of stung a little bit. Soon enough, he let me start scratching and petting him. He was a good kitty.

I was petting Kitty for a while and talking to him.

"Hi, Kitty! I'm Kiara! How are you feeling?" I asked him.

Kitty whined and put his head down on my lap. I giggled and rubbed Kitty's head.

"Aw. Are you sleepy, Kitty? Don't worry. The doctor will come and make it all better." I assured him, I knew that the doctor would make him feel better.

Kitty huffed and I laughed.

"You don't like the doctor?" I asked. "It's ok. I didn't like the doctors either. But they try to help us even if they're a little scary. I know that, and I know that you might not like it, but you should be a brave kitty."

I had completely forgotten that Vivi was still there.

"I remember when I was in the doctor's place. They were trying to take care of me, but I was scared because the bad people hurt me a lot. But when I woke up in that place I felt a little better than usual, then Vivi took me with him and he made everything better. It still hurts a little every once in a while, but it's ok. Vivi takes care of us so everything will be ok." I told Kitty.

Kitty was my new friend. I was gonna visit Kitty all the time now. I sat there petting the big cat, and then a doctor came to see him. But I was scared of the doctor. He was big and tall and he looked mean. He smiled at me but I whimpered and looked around in horror.

"Hey! Woah! Step away from the girl and the cat!" Vivi's voice boomed through the area.

"Vivi!" I whimpered.

"I'm right here, baby. You're ok." Vivi told me and he came closer. Suddenly, Kitty stood up and he hissed at the doctor.

"Theo!" Vidal yelled.

Theo came rushing into the enclosure and he got the doctor out of there. Another doctor came in slowly and he wasn't very scary, I just clung to Vivi a little and I tried to make Kitty calm down a little.

"Blaze! Woah, boy. Away." Vidal instructed and Kitty whimpered before coming closer to me and Vivi instead and getting away from the new doctor. I was happy they had two doctors to make sure Kitty was ok and not just one.

"Hold my hand, Kiwi. It's ok." Vivi told me, kissing my forehead as the doctor looked at Kitty. I was still stroking Kitty's head and making sure he was more comfortable.

"This is literally the weirdest thing to ever happen to me." Vivi sighed.

I sighed as well and curled into Vivi.

"We good?" Vivi asked the doctor.

"We are. It's just a nasty bowel infection it seems." The doctor said and Vivi picked me up.

"Bye bye, Kitty." I whispered, waving to my new friend.

Vivi chuckled and kissed my forehead as he carried me away. I was happy now. I snuggled into him and he took me to the big building that I woke up in last time.

"Can we see the bunnies too?" I asked Vivi.

"We can. Just give me a few minutes, Kiwi." He said to me.

I nodded my head. Somehow I felt the urge to jump into his lap and curl up with my thumb in my mouth. He just made me feel safe. Safe enough to admit I had serious issues and safe enough to suck my thumb in front of him without being too embarrassed about it.

"Kiara. Kiwi?! Hey, Kiara." I heard him say as he shook me gently. I had gotten lost in my thoughts.

"Hi." I smiled shyly with a blush covering my cheeks.

"Hello, Kiwi. You ok?" Vivi chuckled.

"Mhm." I hummed.

"Are you good to stay here for a little while, I just need to talk to the doctor." He said softly.

I nodded and he walked away. He talked to the doctor and then he came back to me, but again I had gotten lost in thought about how good Vivi was to me.

"Ready to see the bunnies, baby?" He asked me.

I nodded my head and he smiled, taking my hand and letting me walk next to him. I eventually started dragging him behind me in excitement.

"Vivi! The bunnies are waiting! Hurry!" I cheered.

Vidal laughed loudly as he hurried up a little. We finally reached the bunnies.

"Bunnies! I missed you guys!" I said happily as I got down on my knees and started petting one of them.

"Vivi, they're so cute." I giggled.

"Kiwi, you're so cute." He chuckled.

"Can we bring a bunny home?" I asked him, picking up the smallest and fluffiest one.

"No, Sweetheart. They still need to stay here and be with their family and get the medicine they need everyday." He told me.

"Where were they found?" I asked him.

"They were found on the side of the road or in the middle of it, or in the woods somewhere or in someone's yard. Lots of places." He explained.

"Can we get a bunny? Not these guys, I guess, but a bunny?" I asked him.

"No, we can't, Kiwi." He said.

I really, really wanted one though, so I pouted at him.

"I can't afford that right now." He said to me. "It's too much work. I'd rather spend time cuddling with you than time taking care of a bunny."

"But I'll take care of the bunny." I argued.

"No." He said, trying to be stern.

"Vivi, I want a bunny!" I pouted, letting my eyes get watery.

"I'll get you a bunny one day." He compromised.

"I have to be really good?" I asked him.

"That would be nice." He nodded. "But Sweetheart, I.... I don't want you to think that anything will change between us if you're not good sometimes. I'll always be here for you, even when you throw tantrums and you argue and don't cooperate. Sometimes life just gets tough and I understand that."

I started planning how I was going to be good for him, before he spoke. After he said all that, I got a little confused. He didn't want me to be bad, obviously. No one likes it when I'm bad. But he said it was ok if I couldn't be good because life was hard.

"Can I talk to you about something?" He asked me hesitantly, after I got lost in thought.

"Always." I smiled, feeling so happy that Vivi wanted to talk to me. Me of all people.

He hesitated slightly before beginning with whatever he wanted to talk to me about.

"You're a girl and you're super sweet and supportive... so like, maybe you know something about this." He explained his reasoning for asking me.

"Ok...." I nodded. "But you're also very sweet and supportive."

"Only with you, baby." He laughed.

"That's not true, but continue." I said.

"If someone comes to you heartbroken about something and you know what they need to do to fix it, but they refuse. What're you supposed to do?" He sighed.

"You'll know how to handle situations like that though... you handle me and my tantrums." I said.

"That's different. This is like... this person is just torturing themselves." Vidal told me.

"Who came to you heartbroken?" I asked, my curiosity peaking.

"Theo." He admitted.

"About 'you know who' that you mentioned the other day?" I asked.

"Yeah... I didn't know you picked up on that." He chuckled.

I shrugged, climbing into his lap with a bunny.

"Just leave him be." I said. "He'll figure it out eventually. He probably just wants comfort."

"So how do I give him that?" Vivi asked me.

"Maybe a hug will do. He's your brother, Vivi. Just give him a hug." I said, knowing hugs helped me when I was sad.

"Alright." He smiled, kissing my forehead just the way I liked it.

"Let's go home, Kiwi. We've got a lot to discuss." He said to me.

"B-but the bunnies." I pouted.

"We can always come back, Kiwi." He said, kissing my cheek as I reluctantly put the bunny in my lap down.

"We can stay a little longer." He said suddenly, picking another bunny up and handing it to me. "But on one condition."

"What is it?" I asked happily.

"Stay here in my lap." He said.

I smiled and rested against his chest, letting him hold me as I admired all the bunnies.

"Can I feed them?" I whispered softly.

"Sure. Go get that little bowl over there and come straight back." Vivi said.

I ran over and grabbed the bowl, bringing it over to Vivi and letting him grab me immediately. He helped me feed them and he also fell in love with a small white fluffy one. I asked him if we could keep that one, but he reluctantly refused again.

"Come on, you know you want him." I said with a giggle as he looked longingly at the little white bunny.

"But he'll be better taken care of here." Vivi sighed, raking his fingers through my long hair.

"But we can get a bunny some day?" I asked just to clarify.

"Yes. One day we can." He nodded.

I nodded and cuddled up to him, ready to head home. I felt hungry, but I wasn't about to tell him that.

"You're hungry. Let's go eat." He said.

I glared at the side of his head as he picked me up, wondering how on earth he possibly could have known that. I wasn't going to let this go though. I wanted him to like the way I looked, not hate me for being even uglier than I already was. I wouldn't let myself get fat, no matter what.
