《Come Back To Me, Kiwi.》Chapter 14 - Romeo and Stolen Faces

We walked to a box that closed on us and then started moving. I didn't know what it was called, but Vidal said it was an elevator. Then he took me to a big room with a desk and lots and lots of books and papers.

"Vidal." A man said.

I looked up and saw a man that looked like Vidal, but he had different coloured eyes and hair.

"Yeah." Vidal said shyly.

"What's going on?" The man said, looking over at me.

"This is Kiara." Vidal said and his brother nodded.

I took the opportunity to jump behind Vidal and hide from the rest of the world. His brother wasn't jumping to any conclusions yet, which was nice.

"C-can I just..." Vidal asked, pointing to the chairs behind us.

His brother nodded, sitting down on the chair in front of Vidal. Vidal pulled me into his lap and hid his head in his hands.

"What's going on?" His brother said.

"No one told you?" Vidal asked.

"Momma was upset yesterday and she called me and stuff, but other than that, I know nothing other than what you've told me." Vidal's brother explained.

"I shouldn't have yelled at her, she's still our mother. But we worked things out. It's just that everyone seems to be freaking out about this.... I just... they're supposed to know me." Vidal said.

I hated seeing Vidal in pain. I was so saddened by the sight of him like that. I felt a few tears stream down my face and my body started to shake.

"I wouldn't normally ask you to, but will you just....?" Vidal whispered, pushing my hand towards my face.

I accepted my thumb in my mouth, wanting to be calm for Vidal and wanting to make this experience easier for him. I hid myself away from his brother, not wanting him to see me like this. I was finally calm and Vidal was looking at his brother in complete despair.

"Tell me what happened." His brother said softly.

"Kiwi, can we take the sweater off you for a moment?" Vidal asked me.

I nodded and he helped me remove the sweater from my body. I looked at the horrified expression on his brother's face and started crying. He knew from before about me, I knew Vidal had been on the phone with him at the hospital. But I guess he didn't realize how bad it was.

"No. Hey, I'm sorry. I was just a little shocked. I'm so sorry." Vidal's brother said.

"Kiwi, this is Romeo, but we all call him Remi. He's my brother." Vidal told me.

I pushed into Vidal's chest, not wanting Romeo to get too close.

"Hey, Kiara. I'm basically a second version of Vidal, except I'm much more funny." Remi laughed.

I looked at Vidal and saw a smile on his face. I liked Remi more than the others, he made Vidal smile.

"I'm not even going to deny it." Vidal laughed.

"Do you want a cupcake?" Remi asked me.

"I'd like one." Vidal said, taking a cupcake from the tray full of them. Vidal took a huge bite and offered me a bite, removing my thumb from my mouth. I looked over at Remi and he smiled at me.

"It's ok. No one is going to judge." Vidal said. I took a small bite and smiled at the sugary taste.

"It's good, isn't it?" Remi asked me.

I nodded softly, smiling but hiding in Vidal's sweater.

"You know you're safe with everyone in the family. I know the others are probably a little confused and upset right now, but they just want to protect you and they're misinterpreting the situation." Remi said to me.

I nodded my head, I knew these things, but how could they think Vidal would do anything to hurt me. I didn't even think that and I was afraid of everything.

"So, what brings you guys here?" Remi asked.

"I... I just ne-eeded to see you." Vidal said, his voice breaking.

I felt safe now. Even with Remi here. He didn't try to take me away from Vidal and he didn't try to get close to me. I liked how Remi knew he should stay away, give me time. How he didn't automatically blame Vidal for hurting me. I liked Remi because he was making Vidal smile, and trying to make him feel better.

"Bro, what happened?" Remi asked in shock.

"Congratulations, you're the first person who saw me with Kiara and didn't immediately jump to weird conclusions." Vidal sighed, rubbing my back as if I was the one who needed comfort. "They think I'm taking advantage of her."

"What?" Remi asked. "Who said that?"

"Theo, Evan, and Arabella and Micah although they haven't actually seen her yet." Vidal listed the people off. "They think I'm sleeping with her. I'm not an idiot, I wouldn't do that."

"Yeah... I hear Arabella is angry with you..." Remi said.

"Her and Micah found the receipt for Kiara's clothes. Then she took a shower and they heard it running. They immediately assumed I was sleeping with her. I just... I didn't expect my family to think so low of me like this." Vidal muttered softly.

"Forget it. Let them figure it out." Remi said, frowning at the revelation. "Besides, Arabella is just dramatic.... She doesn't actually believe you're sleeping with her, if she did she would've told me when we spoke. Just forget it right now."

"Forget that the people I love are disgusted by me because they assume I would take advantage of a woman? I tell them I haven't done anything and then they yell at me some more..." Vidal groaned.

"Vidal.... You're being a little dramatic. You ok, bro?" Remi asked him.

"I know... I just feel bad. I can't do anything right. I don't want to explain, but I'm tired of them assuming I'm taking advantage." Vidal said, stroking my cheek.

"So what's the real story? I know you wouldn't do that to her, I know you're not messed up, but why are they actually freaking out? Everything has an explanation, doesn't it? You're just trying to take care of Kiara." Remi said softly, smiling at me.

I nodded, happy that he too understood and didn't judge.

"I think they probably just think it's odd that I won't tell them anything... it's just. What am I supposed to say, really?" Vidal sighed.

"I don't know.... Has anyone seen her suck on her thumb?" Romeo asked, and I knew it's because he thought it would cause more problems.

"Not yet." Vidal said, and I hid my head again, feeling judged.

"Hey, it's perfectly ok, Kiara. It just helps you relax, doesn't it?" Remi asked.

I nodded with a smile. I liked Remi, he still wasn't judging.

"That's perfectly normal." Remi smiled at me.

I hid my red face in Vidal's chest and Vidal chuckled, running his fingers through my hair.

"What about Dad?" Remi asked Vidal.

"I haven't seen him in a few days. I don't know what Momma and Aunt Soph told him, but I don't even know what to expect anymore." Vidal said.

"Ok. I'm going to call him over, he was coming to see me and we were going to go out for lunch together, he wanted to talk to me about something apparently. I want him to come early." Remi said.

"He wanted to talk to you?" Vidal asked with a raised eyebrow. "Our father, Ricardo Ferrari wants to sit down and talk to you?"

"I think Momma told him to talk to me about finding someone. They know everyone else is kind of either into someone or trying to find someone and I'm the only one who literally doesn't care." Romeo laughed.

"Don't you want to find a girl?" Vidal asked him.

"Yup... but I'm in no rush. I'm still young, I've got time and my looks don't seem to be fading just yet." Romeo winked.

"God, you're so annoying. I think you should genuinely start thinking about it though. Like actually look out for good options." He said.

"My Juliet will come when she comes, Vidal." Romeo said.

"Ok whatever." Vidal laughed.

"Alright? Just sent a text out, Dad says he's on his way." Romeo said.

My grip on Vidal's shirt tightened and both the guys tried to calm me down. I didn't think I could handle another person coming here and then making Vidal upset.

"Don't worry, Kiara. He's just like me. Vidal is more like Uncle Rico. They're both boring." Remi chuckled.

Vidal shook his head with a laugh and he seemed comfortable with his dad coming. I was used to people freaking out about my appearance now, but what I wasn't used to and didn't want to get used to, was Vidal being upset.

After a few minutes of both of them trying to calm me down and make me feel better about their dad coming, I saw a tall man that looked exactly like Uncle Rico walk in. I was fairly certain he was Uncle Rico.

"Dad, sit down." Remi said pointing to a chair.

I frowned at Uncle Rico. Why were they calling him their dad? They said that Uncle Rico and their dad were two different people. Something was different about Uncle Rico today though. He was smiling a lot and he wasn't dressed the same.

"Dad, this is Kiara." Vidal said nervously.

"It's nice to meet you, Kiara." Uncle Rico said.

I looked up at Vidal in confusion.

What are they all going on about?

"Oh! I'm sorry. He's Uncle Rico's twin, so they look almost exactly the same." Vidal said.

I didn't like that very much, it was a little too strange for me.

How am I supposed to know which one I'm talking to?

"Hey. It's ok." Vidal said, brushing my hair away from my face.

I shook my head.

"Great. Sophie number two. Let me guess, I'm a face stealer now?" The face thief said.

I nodded my head, frowning at him.

"I didn't steal anyone's face, Little One. My brother is the one that stole my face." He told me.

I gasped.

Why are they perfectly ok with this? Uncle Rico stole his face and they were all just totally laid back about it.

My frown deepened as I looked at all the guys. I was trying to find just a little bit of concern on any one of their faces. But I found nothing. Just three smiles directed at me.

"Oh! I love her! She's adorable!" Vidal's dad said happily.

They all chuckled and I turned red again, hiding my face in Vidal's shirt yet again.

"She's gonna be my best friend." Remi boasted.

I giggled, still hiding my face. I liked the idea of a best friend, kind of like Bunny.

Bunny.

Oh my God!

Bunny!

I suddenly froze up and stiffened.

"Oh no! No, Kiwi. What's wrong?" Vidal asked, knowing exactly what was wrong but trying to stall.

"H-hold on, did you just say kiwi?" Vidal's dad asked in shock.

"Get the bunny." Vidal said to Remi, throwing his car keys to his brother.

My poor Bunny! He's all alone and lost and what if something happened to him! I want my bunny!

Remi hurried out of the room and I sobbed into Vidal's shirt in distress.

What if someone kidnapped Bunny? They could hurt him like they hurt me when they kidnapped me. Sure, he was a stuffed animal, but.... still.
