《Cuore Mio》Bonus Chapter # 2

Azalea's POV:
"I love you, Amora." I said, tapping on the nose of my four year old daughter.
"I love vu too." She said, attempting to repeat what I had just said.
I am still amazed at how I got so lucky. Amora is the best thing that ever happened to me four years ago.
It is Christmas Eve and Dante has gone to the grocery store to buy some ingredients for dinner.
The ringing of the timer set on my phone, brought me back to the present. The cookies are done.
"Do you want to decorate the cookies ?" I asked her.
"Yes ! Cooyies !" She said, excitedly jumping on my lap.
"Let's do that before Dadda comes back home." I told her, getting up from the couch with her in my arms. I walked to the kitchen and took the tray of freshly-baked cookies out.
I placed her on the kitchen top and proceeded to make the frosting in different colors of red, green and white in the meantime.
I put them in piping bags and placed them in a plate to make it easier for Amora to use.
"Look, Mamma !" She said, showing me a cookie she decorated.
"What did you make ?" I asked, brushing her straight jet black hair out of her angelic face.
"Shnowflake." She said, her ocean blue eyes, sparkling in happiness.
"That's very pretty." I complimented.
After decorating cookies for another few minutes, I heard the jingle front door open.
Without wasting another moment, Amora shouted, "Dadda !"
She lifted hers arms up so that I would carry her and as soon as I did, she ran faster than the speed of light towards him.
Dante closed the door behind me and kept the grocery bags on the floor to pick her up.

He raised her up and twirled her in the air. When he did so, her little hearty laughter was heard.
Looking at them made me feel like the happiest woman in the whole world. I couldn't ask for anything more.
I had everything that I ever wanted. In the last few years, the game that I had developed, 'Board Switch' had become such a widely used game that I even started a company called 'NextGen' in the gaming industry.
And guess what ? I'm the CEO. I'm content with my life.
He held Amora with one arm and hugged me with his other.
"Aren't you excited to see me ?" He asked.
"Nah. Not at all." I teased.
Instead of saying something back at me, all he did was tickle me.
"Nooo...stop..." I said, trying to push him away.
"Don't hurt Mamma." Amora said, cupping Dante's face with her tiny hands.
"But I was just-" He tried to argue but she whined and wriggled in his arms, trying to get out of his hold.
I took her in my arms and told her, "I appreciate that you stood up for me Amora but Dadda wasn't hurting me. He was just playing around, okay ? Dadda would never hurt us. Ever."
She nodded and mumbled an 'okay'.
I wanted my daughter to understand that Dante would never hurt her.
Later on, when she grows up, we would have to tell her that her parents are the leaders of the Italian mafia.
I want her to know that she will always be kept safe.
"I made cooyies, Dadda ! Vu want ?" Amora asked Dante.
"Did you make them ? On you own ?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
She gave a sheepish smile and replied, "I only dec-decrotated them."

"It's decorated, bambino." Dante corrected her.
"Decrotated." She repeated.
"It's alright," I said, "we'll work on that."
A few hours later...
"This chicken is good !" Kim said, stuffing her mouth.
"Mmhm..." Noah hummed, taking a sip of the wine in his glass.
*crying baby sounds*
"Oh, honey. What's wrong ?" Kim said, picking up her seven-month-old.
A few hours back, everyone came over to have a Christmas dinner together.
Kim and Alex have a son named Chris; Dom and Mia have a daughter, who is a few months younger than Amora who is named Bella; Zane and Noah adopted a husky and don't plan on having kids.
"I think diaper has to be changed." Mia suggested.
"Maybe.." Noah said. "I don't have experience with infants."
"Or any child in general." Zane intervened.
"Well, it's your turn Alex." Kim said, handing Chris to him.
"But-" Alex tried to argue.
Keyword: tried.
"The wife is always right, man. Unless you like sleeping on the couch." Dom spoke up.
Elijah stifled a laugh and glanced in my direction, making eye contact with me.
I could tell that he was a little sad because he surely must've thought of my real mother and his wife; Camilla.
I gave him a smile and held his hand from under the table. He smiled back held my hand too.
Alex groaned and went to the restroom with Chris.
I went into the kitchen to get some more bread but stopped in my tracks when I saw Amora sitting on the floor with the jar of cookies; her legs crossed.
I walked towards her and picked her up in my arms.
"You have frosting all over your face, mi cielito ." I said, wiping her face with a damp tissue.
"Whoops." She muttered, licking her tiny frosting-covered fingers.
Just as I finished cleaning her up, Dante entered the kitchen. "Is everything alright ?"
"Yeah, Amora manged to cover almost her entire face with frosting." I said, throwing the used tissues in the trash.
"I love you both so much." He said, looking at us with affection.
"I love you both too." I said, hugging both of them.
Amora kissed both of our foreheads and smiled. "I vuv you."
"Remember when you said that I am your star, and I said that you are my moon ?" I asked.
He nodded, thinking of the memory.
"Amora is our sky. She is the one that lets us shine; the reason for our happiness. Our daughter is the one that holds us together."
"Yes, yes she is." Dante agreed.

Voidsong (A NaNoWriMo 2018 winner)
Synopsys: The Empire thought humanity died, and forgot all about it. The Empire is mistaken. A Note From the Author: This story was written as a National Novel Writing Month 2018 entrant. As such, its entire 50,000+ word length was written between November 1, 2018 and November 31, 2018. Overall, I would consider this no more than a polished draft. In that vein, the chapters have no names, only numbers. Special thanks to Chronus on youtube for answering my questions on NATO radio procedures! My Apologies to the Finnish Language, which I have abused in (probably) unforgivable ways to create Twisted Empire names. If anyone is interested, break the names up by commas and toss them into your favorite translation program (I used Google Translate, and tried to avoid umlauts and other accents) for some semi bilingual boni. If I got something wrong (and I know I did… somewhere…) let me know over on reddit and I will see what I can do to fix the mistake. Lyrics, where included, are cited in footnotes.
