《Cry For Me》Chapter 32

Camryn's POV
This is beginning to get more difficult than I thought. I have a list of six couples. All I have are there names. Now that means I have to google their names and hopefully there are matches that live either in the same area or at least the same state!
That could lead me to a bunch of different people with the same names and I won't get anywhere.
I wasn't expecting to get this overwhelmed when I collected this list yesterday at Starbucks.
I hold the piece of paper I wrote the names on in front of me, then there's a knock on my door.
"Cam?" my mom calls from the other side of the door. I quickly shove the paper underneath my pillow.
"Yea come in," I call out. She opens the door and walks into my room. She stands in front of me and puts her hand on her hip. "Um, is something wrong?" I ask.
"Yes there's something wrong Camryn, You're still seeing Colton," she accuses. What? This isn't what I was expecting her to say.
How does she even know? It's not like she was at school with us, that was the only place we were together.
"Mom, what...?" I start.
"Don't even try to lie Camryn. Last night when I went to the grocery store I ran into that nice girl Judith and she just couldn't stop gushing over how cute of a couple you guys are. When I told her you guys broke up, she informed me that you two are still very much together," my mother explains, her brows furrowed.
Dammit Judith! I haven't talked to her for a while and haven't had a chance to tell her that our parents are trying to keep Colton and me away from each other. Shit.

"Mom, how do you expect us to just not see each other? We go to the same school, we have a class together, and we even have the same lunch period! It's a small world and an even smaller school, mom, it's inevitable that we're going to see each other so there's no point in trying to keep us away."
"Cam why is it so hard for to to just listen?" she sighs, sitting down on the bed next to me. "Colton may seem like the love of your life right now, but who knows how long it'll last, ha, look at how your father and I turned out." My mom's face falls.
She said it. The one thing Colton told me not to listen to. Forevers do exist and I can't let my mom feed me the fact that they don't. I need to believe in something, and I can't let her take that away from me.
"Mom, Colton and I aren't you and dad," I whisper.
"I know, I know. I can tell you guys are different, just by the way he looks at you," she whispers back.
"Then why try and keep us away?"
"It wasn't me, it's his father, he's a creep and I don't like him."
"Ha, join the club," I say low enough so she can't hear.
"Do you really love him?" she asks.
"I really do," I say without hesitation. It's true, I love him.
"Well then you two better just keep fighting for it," she smiles and I do too. She's back on our side. She's okay with me seeing Colton again. Four days, it took her four days to get over the dispute that occurred between us and Walt. Not bad.

"I need to call Colton," I cheer and my mom laughs. I stand up to grab my phone off of my desk and my mom lets out a sigh and lays down on my bed.
"Cam?" my mom asks in a low voice as I unlock my phone. I look up at her and see her holding the piece of paper I hid under my pillow. The piece of paper that has my real parent's names on them. Oh no. "Why do you have this?" she says shakily.
"Mom I can explain," I say quickly. Shit, I didn't want her to find out this way.
"Please do," she says slowly. I can see her eyes starting to water. "Are your father and I no longer enough?" she asks and the tears stream down her face.
"No mom of course you guys are!" I say, rushing to comfort her. I sit next to her and wrap my arms around her.
"Then why do you have a list that has your birth parent's on it?" she cries.
"I was just... curious, about my biological parents. Mom, my whole life I feel like I've been missing something, and you and dad did your best to take that feeling away, and it worked, up until dad... you know," I explain, not wanting to say the words out loud. My mom cries harder.
"You never considered me your real mom?" she asks through her sobs. I never realized that's what I was basically saying, that my mom isn't my real mom, but she is.
"Of course you are, mom. You're the one who was there, you're the one who took care of me, the one who loved me for my whole life, of course you're my real mom. All I wanted to do was meet them and ask them a few questions, I mean you can understand that can't you? They can never compare to you and dad, but I just need to meet them," I tell her. She looks up and tries to control her breathing. She wipes her eyes and looks at me and then she gives me a weak smile. She stands up from the bed and grabs a pencil off of my desk.
I can't see what she's doing because her back is facing me, but a few seconds later she turns around and hands me the piece of paper, then exits my room.
I look down at the paper and see that she circled a couple's name:
