I will work for it, you know I will.

Axel's text message manages to plant a lasting smile onto my face, my cheeks beginning to burn as I approach my dorm room.

Opening the door, I have to squint my eyes to see through the darkness.

Emma and Dean lie in separate beds, their eyes planted on the TV. Project Runway is playing, Heidi Klum looking fabulous as she explains the challenge for the nervous faces of the designers.

Clearing my throat, both of them oblivious to the fact I'm in the room, I say, "This is cute."

Both Emma and Dean whip their heads towards me, looking guilty. Deciding to play on this, I walk up to the laptop and pretend to guess what's on the laptop. Emma begins to get out of bed to turn it off, but I'm faster.

"Project Runway! You two could just start your fashion brand now." I tease, my words not being true at all.

Dean lives in jeans and t-shirts, drag him away from that and there would be consequences.

"Shut up." Dean grumbles, running a hand through his hair.

"It just appeared on because we were using Rob's laptop." Emma explains, looking guilty.

I burst out laughing at their weak excuses. Pretending nod in fake agreement, I turn to see them both looking at me.

"Relax, it's only me. I'll just tell Rob who definitely won't tell anyone else." I shrug, still smiling.

"Go for it, I'll tell Axel you were grinning when you came home from his place." Emma retorts and folds her arms across her chest.

Despite our serious words, both Emma and I are grinning at each other while we say them. Nudging my shoulder with her own, she looks at me expectantly.

"What?" I ask.

"You know what! Tell us what happened." Emma squeals, dragging me to my bed.

Looking over at Dean sympathetically, he pouts at me. "You don't need to stay for this, if you don't want to." I reassure him.

"Thank. God." He laughs, standing up form the bed. Cracking his back he makes his way towards the door. "See you in class."

And with that extremely emotional goodbye, Dean walks out of the from room and slams the door behind him.

"I'm dying over here." Emma sings, looking at me.

"Okay, I'll start form the beginning." I say, before launching off into a speech about what just occurred between Axel and I.

From every work spoken, to every gesture, I tell Emma everything. When I tell her about my slightly over dramatic exit, she grins at me.

"Yes girl!! What did he say?" She asks, almost bouncing with excitement.

Showing her my phone which contains Axel's message to me, she lets out a dreamy sigh.

"Holy shit, I wish I had a man like that." She says, lying on my bed.

I lie beside her, out shoulders touching due to the small bed.

"Yeah, but he's also the man who had the girl who hates me on his lap." I sigh, feeling the beginning of a headache coming on.

Emma lets out a murmur of agreement and then we lapse into silence.

For it then to be broken five seconds later. Obviously. Because who needs peace and quiet, anyway?

The door flies open, banging against Rob's bed frame. Brooke storms in, her hair messy and her cheeks red.

"Will somebody tell me what the fuck is going on?"

I let out a giggle at her overwhelmed state and pat the empty spot on my bed for her to sit on.

"Sit down and I'll tell you everything."

••••

"Hmm, he's still a dick." Brooke concludes after I finish telling her about Axel and I's talk.

"Yes. Yes, he is." I smirk, shaking my head in disbelief at his actions.

"But he's willing to work for you." Emma points out, still sighing in annoyance that she doesn't have someone like that.

"Who wouldn't?!" I laugh, flicking my hair over my shoulder in the mock confidence.

If only I had that when I'm around Axel.

"Anyway, what happened after we left?" I ask, lying back down beside Emma.

Brooke lies at the bottom of the bed, facing us. Her arm supports her head as she pouts at us.

"Well, after the star quarter back left, the team were basically useless. Like awful. So they lost and I don't think I've ever seen coach that angry." She explains.

I internally laugh at how pissed off Axel is going to be at his team for not winning. Add him and shit-yourself coach and you've got one tough training.

"What about the dancing?! Plus, did the devil get a kick in the teeth?" I ask, my curiosity peaking.

"You mean Blossom?" Brooke ask.

Both Emma and I turn to Brooke and say in sync, "The devil."

"Okay, then." She grins at us both. "No, the referee 'didn't see' what he did to you. So, we're going to have another dance off in two weeks time. This time, in front of all of the sports students." She says, her voice dropping low to create a dramatic effect that only Brooke can achieve.

I ignore her dramatic flare, her words being the only important thing.

Despite the fear going through me at the fact I need to dance in front of people who actually know about dance - I'm ecstatic.

Because we're getting our rematch.

••••

I quite quickly fall asleep after Brooke explains what happened after the match.

The pain, joy and fear of the day before quickly catching up on me. Plus, I'm now on strong painkillers - which has actually turned out to be a good thing.

They make me really sleepy, which then leads me to fall asleep without feeling pain fron my re-broken arm.

Who re-breaks their arm? I seriously need to be surrounded in bubble wrap.

Waking up, I feel groggy but refreshed.

Emma and Brooke have left, so they clearly went home after I had fallen asleep. I send them both a text to make sure they're okay, to which they both reply that they're fine.

Rolling over knot my side, Rob's empty bed screams out in my vision.

He didn't come home.

As soon as worrying thoughts begin to flutter around my brain, the door of the room opens.

"You can stop missing me now." Rob sings as he skips into the room, holding two coffees.

"Somebody's in a good mood," I grin. "Anything to do with the date last night?"

"Everything to do with the date last night. Goddamn I have caught a good one. Both physically and mentally - if you know what I mean." Rob winks as places his coffee done on the desk and walk over to me with the other one.

"Thanks." I say, taking a sip.

My favourite hazelnut latte greets my sense and I immediately relax.

"Don't thank me. Thank Axel."

I just manage to not spit out my coffee.

My eyes bulge as I swallow the mouthful of coffee.

"He bought this? How?" I ask, my eyebrows furrowing.

It's still really hot, so it can't of come from the Starbucks beside his apartment.

"We got coffee together this morning. Had to talk to me about you guys and then he bought you a coffee and told me to give it to you." Rob smirks at me, delight dancing in his eyes.

"Didn't he buy you one?" I ask.

"He didn't initially, then I threw a tantrum. Where do you think I got this from?" Rob asks, pulling out a muffin that was hidden from my view.

Why did expect anything less?

Taking a tentative sip of my coffee, now knowing that it's form Axel, I turn to Rob.

"What were you guys talking about?" I ask, knowing that I can probably guess it myself.

"You guys. Where you are, what happened last night." He says, sitting down in his bed opposite me.

I become momentarily breathless at the thought of him.His blue eyes - that I still can't look into without wincing from emotions - shining with hope and determination and how messy his hair would've been when he ran his hand through it.

"Earth to Skylar." Rob snaps his fingers, bringing me out of my daydream. "You couldn't of gotten through my night last night with that daydream attitude."

"TMI dude, TMI." I laugh, shaking my head.

"Can't help it." Rob shrugs his shoulders, a mischievous grin plastered across his face.

"You're completely insane." I shake my head.

"It's insane that you haven't noticed the message on your cup yet." Rob remarks, looking at me with furrowed eyebrows.

"What are you talking about?" I mutter as I begin to twist the cup in my hand.

The black ink stands out against the white styrofoam, Axel's handwriting messy.

Told you I would. Enjoy your coffee xx

And at his words, I think the recently put up barrier around my heart falls down just a little bit.

••••

He's working for it, but did we expect anything less?

What's our thoughts on this chapter? On Brooke and Emma?

I didn't want Axel to apologise and then everything go back to rainbows and sunshine, that's not how real life works. So, I continued with their story but also wanted to point out that not everything was forgiven so quickly :)

I hope you enjoyed this chapter, if you did make sure to hit that little star at the bottom to let me know!

Much love,

Jade x
