The man standing in front of me was dressed in a simple loose black shirt and dark blue jeans and yet, he still stands out from the crowd. The small grin on his face makes it all better.
Wait, won't he get bombarded? There might be some paparazzi lurking around the corners. There always is whenever he's around. I hate them.
"It's a bake sale, right? I want to eat." He said. "So how much for all the gingersnap cookies? I'll take them all."
I blinked thrice, still dazed. "I-I will have to check how much." I purposely avoided his gaze as I counted the remaining cookies left. "We have 12 cookies left so everything will be $6 in total."
"Okay. I'll take all of it."
I grabbed a paper bag and packed all the cookies he wanted inside, folding the top twice before handing it to him. He handed me a ten dollar bill in exchange.
"Keep the change, Callie." Jack insisted.
"Are you sure? You might need it?"
He always doesn't have the right amount of lose change in his wallet. Well, he used to. I don't know about it now.
"I don't keep it. I'm sure the money will be spent on something useful for the school. If you want, I can donate mo-" I cut him off.
"Oh, no!" I stopped him. "Don't be ridiculous, Jack. We're not that in need of money here. It's only for the kids' upcoming school field trip."
"I'm not kid-" Again, he was cut off but now by screaming people.
I turned my head to the direction where the screaming had come from and I saw at least three girls hyperventilating and fanning themselves off.
Okay, that's weird.
But I guess if my favorite artist is here, too, I would absolutely freak out.

"Callie, what was that- OH MY GOD! JACKSON FREAKING COHEN!" Tracey came out of nowhere and screamed.
Jack scrunched his face a little with a grin of his face, looking very amused with my friend. "I'm pretty sure that Freaking isn't my middle name written on my birth certificate as I'm well aware." He joked.
Tracey was now holding on to my arm for her life, squeezing it a little bit too hard. I can already feel my blood circulation stopping little by little. "No, of course it's not! It's Vallen. If it's not too confidential, can I have a copy of your birth certificate? I promise I won't do anything with it. Just keep it in my collection"
I mentally cringe. Oh, Tracey, you're embarrassing yourself in front of him but you don't seem to care about it anyway.
"I can take a picture with you instead if you want." He offered.
I swear, she almost looked like she was about to faint.
"S-sure. Take as many pictures as you can. " Trace whispered, handing me her phone before walking over.
"Smile!" I said once they had their pose figured out.
After that, Jack gave Tracey a big hug. I smiled at the scene in front of me. He always hugs his fans whenever he meets one of them. It's quite a sweet gesture, really.
He gives out the best comforting hugs. I miss those.
The other three girls who were screaming a while ago were waiting on the side for their turn, while Jack gladly focused his attention on them. He even signed one of the girls' phone cases on the back. They were carrying a poster with him on it which I found peculiar, so they just bring a poster of him around wherever they go?

He waved the girls goodbye once they were done. Tracey was standing beside me, squealing every now and then and almost restricting the blood flow in my arm.
"I can't believe that he is still here! Much less here buying gingersnap cookies in our bake sale. Gosh, have you smelled his perfume? I could make that smell in my house." Tracey whisper-yelled. "I wonder what perfume he uses?"
I wonder that, too. I wonder if he still uses his favorite perfume that he has been using for years.
I quickly stood completely still when I noticed his gaze on me.
"Are you free tomorrow?" Jack asked nonchalantly. "After tomorrow's bake sale that is."
"M-me?" I managed to speak out, pointing a finger at myself.
"Yes, Callie, you. I'm asking you."
"Wait, you guys know each other?" Trace piped in.
Jack and I nodded our heads.
Yeah, Trace, we totally know each other. He used to be my best friend turned boyfriend and now we're nothing but strangers with memories in the past and I think we still have some unfinished business left for us to talk and resolve. So we do know each other.
"We used to know each other."
"Callie and I go way back."
Both of us answered in chorus. His eyes snapped into mine when he heard my answer. What? What did I say? All I said was the truth. We used to know each other. It has been years since I physically saw him and also talked to him.
"Oh, what was Callie like before?" My supposed friend asked him.
"Trace, stop it!" I protest.
Ignoring me, Jack answered her question. "Well, I guess she hasn't changed that much over the years. She was one of the top in all our classes. Still kind and helpful as before."
Tracey gushed but was cut off when one of the students from her stall called her because there were some problems in their place. I bid her goodbye and told her I would meet her later. I walked away, trying to look occupied because I was left alone with Jack, again.
I turned my attention back to him and he was still standing in front of my stall. He had one hand in his pocket while the other was holding the paper bag, his soft gaze on me.
I smiled at him before walking over to the side to go count the money that I have earned from the sales. I was trying to make myself occupied so that maybe he could leave.
It's not that I want him to leave, but it will be easier for us. Plus, he's probably leaving in a few days to go back to LA or wherever in the world he wants to go.
"And still the same girl I loved before." He mumbled under his breath.
