NO POV

You woke up with your head on Hiccup's bare chest.. you both slept naked after last night. You took a deep breath in and let your chest raise and fall with his. Hiccup was still sleeping. You lifted your head, gave him a quick kiss on his cheek and lifted yourself up from his warm bed. You felt unreservedly sore as you stood up... Hiccup suddenly woke, grabbed you wrist, pulled you back into bed next to him and snuggled you beneath his arm. You gasped and giggled as he dominated your petite body.

"Where are you going?" He said, grinning.

"I was going to get changed, Hiccup..." you said provocatively.

You saw him looking at your lips with a heated expression...

"Hiccup... what are you doing?" You asked, thinking that he was imagining pleasing you again... as much as you wanted him, you knew you had to face your family again to make things right; you had to, now that you wanted to stay in Berk with Hiccup.

His face grew worrisome as he lowered his gaze on your body...

"(Y/N), did I do that to you??" He rubbed his fingers across the dark bruises along your hips, where he grabbed you hard last night with his strong hands... when you both lost control.

You smiled... "yes. I like them."

"Do they hurt?" He looked as though he seemed guilty...

"A bit.. but they remind me of the way you held me... I like them." you grinned "Besides, I'm not the only one with marks from last night." You chuckled and pointed towards his neck, where there were trails of love bites leading from beneath his chin, to his shoulders and down his chest.

"Hahaha, (Y/N)! With these, everyone will see and can only imagine how much fun we had..."

He placed a kiss on your tender lips.

As you cuddled in a comfortable silence, you saw a wave of sadness flushing over him...

"Hiccup? Are you okay?"

"(Y/N)..."

"Yes? Tell me what's on your mind."

He held your hand and squeezed it

"...Promise me that you'll stay.. I can't imagine being without you anymore." His lips trembled and pleaded with fear.

A rush of guilt came over you...

"I'm so sorry for leaving years ago, Hiccup... I'm sorry for the pain that I caused you. I promise to never do that again. I want to stay here, with you... I will never leave you again, Hiccup. I love you." You said, looking directly into his eyes, letting him know that you were being sincere.

He smiled as tears filled his eyes with relief.

"I love you too, (Y/N)." He instantly seemed calmer.

"I have to go see my family again." You told him, not wanting to leave his side...

"Oh shit.. I told them that I would bring you home by morning if I found you.. They told me that they wanted to see you. They were afraid that you were going to leave again, (Y/N)."

You directed downwards with downcast eyes in shame...

"(Y/N), what's wrong? Come on, let's get changed and I'll take you down there..." Hiccup said, holding your hand.

"I told them about dad, Hiccup... they were speechless. I can't- *sigh* I can't face them again after what I told them..."

"Yes you can. I'm here with you, every step. Your brother, Erik told me last night that they were heartbroken when you left because they didn't get to tell you... that they forgive you..."

Your eyes jolted at Hiccup in pure shock.

"They forgive me?" You cried.

"Those were his words, (Y/N). See? I told you that everything would be okay." He smiled and rubbed your back with his hand.

You smiled with rivers of happy tears streaming down your face. Hiccup wiped them away with his thumbs and placed his forehead upon yours.

"I can't believe they forgive me..." you gleamed

"They do. So, let me take you down there, I want to be by your side."

"Of course... Thank you, Hiccup."

"Are you going to wear your armour again today?"

"Well ... yes, I- I have no other clothes, it cost me everything to get the materials to make this armour, and I couldn't carry sacks of clothes on Libelle, as we travelled constantly."

"I see. How about... you wear something of mine." He smirked.

"Really? People would know-"

"Have you seen the marks on my neck (Y/N)?! *laughs* yeah they're already gonna know... and besides, I like the thought of people knowing your mine."

Butterflies filled your stomach, and chills iced down your spine as you heard those words... you nodded okay and Hiccup got up and searched for something for you to wear. He turned around holding a long sleeved, scarlet red tunic.

"Would this work on you?" He asked.

You chuckled- "yes, that'll work"

"It's red, your favourite colour." A smile extended from his freckly cheeks.

"I can't believe you still remember that!" You cheeks blushed crimson red.

"Of course I do! All those days picking those flowers in the fields... but ''" he imitated you with a high pitched voice. You nudged him lightly in the chest with your elbow.

"Oi! Hahahaa! I remember those days as if they were yesterday." Your mind glistened with nostalgia.

He walked towards you while scrunching the shirt up ready to put it over your head..

"Okay, arms up. Let's see this on you.."

You laugh out of shyness; he was dressing you like it was nothing. You put your arms up as Hiccup put the tunic around your head, your arms glided into the sleeves and the back of his hands swiftly brushed your breasts as he pulled the tunic down past your waist. You both blushed.

"A little big on you, but you look beautiful"

"Hiccup.. a little big?" You showed him that your hands were invisible inside the long sleeves.. the shirt reached your thighs... it smelt like Hiccup. Ugh I love his scent, you thought.

Hiccup rolled up the sleeves... His face was cutely concentrated on folding them up nicely for you. You giggled-

"What?" He grinned, his eyes focused on the sleeves.

"It's just... I can't believe I'm here... with you... after all that happened, the way I left you without saying goodbye.. And- and now I'm in your house, and your folding up my sleeves- I mean your sleeves... I-" guilt filled your thoughts once more.

He placed his hand under your chin and lifted your face to look at him..

"You should never feel ashamed for what you did. You're here now, and that's what matters. Your dragon is safe and more importantly, you're safe. You can tell me anything... you know that. I will always... be here for you, no matter what."

You brought a small smile to your face... you took a deep breath and finally let go of your guilt. The weight of the scarring memories slowly lifted.

"You've always known how to make me feel better, Hiccup."

He wrapped his arms around you. You felt protected and happy as ever.

After you both finished getting dressed and eating some breakfast together, you headed out the door hand in hand down the cobble stone path towards the centre of Berk. The sun was high and bright, and was met by white, fluffy clouds. The village was alive: fishing boats filled the docks, there were Vikings bringing crates of fresh fish into Berk, children were running around, full of energy, you saw familiar faces everywhere that made you feel emotional.

You heard...

"Is that (Y/N) with Hiccup?!"

"It's true, she's back!"

"(Y/N)! Welcome back!"

"So nice to see you again!"

As you walked down the village grounds.

"You're not dead!" Two voices said in-sync behind you... It was Ruffnut and Tuffnut.

"Hey guys! Nope... pretty sure I'm alive! I've missed you!" You smiled, Hiccup was still by your side watching your reaction as people greeted you...

The twins caught you in a warm, greeting hug.

It's so nice meeting them again!

"Is-is it true that you just flew around the world in a straight line and accidentally ended back here? Like... by mistake?" Tuffnut asked.

"What? No! Who told you that?" Hiccup laughed.

"You said she did!" Tuffnut yelled at his twin..

"Hehehe! Tuffnut thinks the world is round.." Ruffnut chuckled with an embarrassed tone in her voice.

"It is round! One day I will prove it, mark my words!!" Tuffnut defensively replied.

The three of you laughed at Tuffnut's weird ideas... the twins started fighting exactly as you remember them doing years ago. Banging their helmets together... They haven't change one bit.

"So Hiccup, I heard Astrid is single now... what happened, I thought you two were like gonna marry and shit" a short man with spiky black hair walked towards you and Hiccup. Behind him was Astrid... they were gonna marry? You thought

"That means you and me babe..." he winked at Astrid, she rolled her eyes in disgust.

"Snotlout? Is that you??" you asked, utterly surprised to see him looking almost the exact same as when you left, six years ago.

"(Y/N)! What in Niflheim!- Where have you been? Everyone thinks your dead? You are here right... or am I seeing things again. Thor, you've gotten even hotter!"

"Snotlout!!" Hiccup exclaimed possessively.

"Yes, Snotlout I'm here" you said in a motherly like tone towards him "Hey Astrid!" You waved at her.

"Hey (Y/N), I'm glad to see you decided to stay." She smiled.

"Ohhh I see... Astrid is single because of (Y/N)'s return- how could I forget how close you two used to be before she left.." Snotlout said towards Hiccup with his hand covering one side of his mouth, to conseal his remark, but everyone could still hear him perfectly.

"That's enough out of you, Snotlout!" Hiccup interrupted him.

"What did I say wrong? It's obvious you two have been together! She's wearing your clothes and you have hickies on your neck!"

"wwWww... someone's been havin fun." Said Tuffnut with a flirty snap. Ruffnut then punshed him in the arm.

Hiccup gave a disgusted look towards Snotlout. You turned red from embarrassment... You loved how Hiccup didn't cover up the bites on his neck. He didn't care that people knew or cared what they were thinking. You looked at him with affection.

Then you saw Astrid... her head was facing downward, she didn't know where to look. Her feet shuffled nervously and she caressed her arm and walked away quietly. You tried to give her an apologetic look but before you could get her attention she was gone.

"Hey you guys!!" A friendly voice came from a distance..

"Fishlegs! Good to see you!"

He waddled over and gave you a big squeeze. You were caught off guard but you hugged him back.

"First of all... welcome back! It's so good to see you again! I came as soon as I heard that you were alive and that you were here! Second of all, I'm in love with your dragon! She's amazing (Y/N), where did you find her? Is she a nightfury? How old is she? Can she do the same things as Toothless?-" His tongue ran with excitement.

"I- uh well... I-" your thoughts fumbled by the overwhelming amounts of questions.

Hiccup put his arms around you and steered you away from the bundle of questions...

"She'll catch up with you later on that Fishlegs, but for now, we need to be somewhere. Bye guys!" He said.

"See you later, (Y/N!)" They said.

You waved back at them as you walked away with Hiccup towards your old house...

"Sorry about them..."

"No no, it's okay, I've missed those weirdoes" you giggled.

Hiccup held your hand and squeezed it once, assuring you that everything will be okay after you walk through the door to see your family again.

*knock knock* Hiccup hit the door on your part and you both waited for an answer.

Your mother answered the door...

"Chieftain! (Y/N)! Where have you been darling, I've been worried sick! Don't you ever do that to me again!" She was angry and in relief at the same time.

"Hi, mum... can we come in?"

"Yes yes! I was worried that maybe you had left! I thought you weren't coming back, I'm so glad you're here, sit down, (Y/N)... both of you." She hugged you and guided you towards the table to sit. She brought a platter of bread to the table and sat down with her daughter and the Chief. You looked around the house, seeing familiar and unfamiliar items. Amongst the house decorations was a new, clay plant pot, with blooming flowers inside... it sat by the windowsill, engulfing itself in sunlight.

"Where's Erik and Iacob?" You asked.

"They're down by the docks offloading the fish, dear." She said whilst looking back and forth between you and Hiccup.

"Mum.. I hope you can forgive me..."

A serious look came upon her face "Look. It doesn't matter how it happened anymore, having been so long ago. (Y/N), we missed you so much, you have no idea. We had to accept your death... when you came through that door yesterday, we were more than astonished. None of us could comprehend the miracle that you were back. What matters is that your here and that you're safe." Her voice sounded sincere... but there was a part of you that thought it was rehearsed. A way to keep you here, even if she hadn't forgiven you. You didn't feel like she was okay with the news you bestowed upon her yesterday.

You paused. Your mother held your hand and fought her tears.

"Bread?" She wheezed, trying to focus the attention on anything other than herself.

"Yes please..."

she gave you and Hiccup a piece. It was rock solid... some things never change.

"I have so much more to tell you, mum" you tried your best to lighten up her mood. Taking her mind off all the years of grief she endured.

"Tell me everything!" She got excited and was eager to hear her daughters voice talk for hours.

You could feel Hiccup's admiring eyes on you as you spoke. He was by your side the entire time, you were so glad he was there with you, supporting you. He didn't talk a lot because he knew not to interfere too much. But just the fact that he was there was enough to make you feel stronger and more confident.

"...Woah! Can I see that journal sometime? It sounds like it possesses even more of your adventures that I'd love to read."

You hesitated whilst thinking about page 115... but you knew deep down that there was nothing more you were hiding from her... You'd already explained how it happened.

"Yes! Definitely... it has sketches of all the dragons I came across, descriptions of all the interesting days, maps of all the islands I visited..."

"Ohh thank you! Something for me to look forward to!"

You smiled. In that moment you realised how much you missed her... how her joyful manner made you feel buoyant.

"So... are you two going to tell me what's happening here?" She asked, pointing back and forth between you and Hiccup.

You looked towards Hiccup, who was blushing and smiling... mum has never had any shame in asking love related questions to anyone..

"We're together." Hiccup said with confidence and proudness. Your heart skipped a beat. He held your hand and intertwined his fingers with yours, presenting you two as an item... He continued-

"I'm in love with your daughter. When I found her alive and well with her dragon by her side a couple days ago, ma'am... all the feelings that I had for (Y/N) from when we were younger came flooding back. The love she had for dragons is one of the many reasons I fell in love with her to begin with." You knew what he was doing, he was trying to shedd light on your love for dragons... making it seem like a good thing, despite what happened to your father, Frode.

Your mother gazed at Hiccup in amazement. You tried to read her mind.

"Yes. The dragons.. everything has changed over the past few years. Our whole lives, our entire meaning-" She turned to look at you...

Your heart started racing, you didn't know what crossed her mind...

"Your father... would've been proud... to see what you have become. To see what the love you had for dragons has done to Berk. Your dream saved us... You and Hiccup saved us." Tears instantly filled your eyes. You walked over to your mother and held her in your arms... you both cried, holding each other compassionately.

It was in that moment that you knew that she truly forgave you. Everything was falling perfectly into place.
