《His Personal Secretary | ✓》Chapter 37

Even though I was really busy with work, I still went looking for her whenever I received a call of someone who had a similar description with Cali.

But it was just a disappointment every time. I could feel myself slowly begin to lose hope. What if I never find her? I've been asking myself that question every second of every day for the past 3 years.

Soon I stopped looking altogether and focused on working. I invested all the time I had into helping Samsung Group become even better.

In the next 3 years, Wright Corporations popularity increased and our worth in stock price did too. We also had some famous actors/singers advertise our products. We had Lee Min Ho advertise the Samsung Note 5 while a popular Korean band by the name of INFINITE advertised for Samsung Galaxy Music by singing "Request". That was just a few examples- we also had Yoo Seung Ho, EXO, BTS, GOT7, VIXX, Girl's Generation, Jackie Chan, the Running Man cast... etc. ()

Present day- at the elevators...

I was on an overseas call with a very important client, discussing details for a contract. I turned around from the elevator and became face to face with a woman.

For some reason, she looked so familiar... The more I looked.. she looked awfully like .... It couldn't be, could it? Was I imagining things? Was this woman standing in front of me who I thought she was?

"Long time no see, Christian," the woman said with a smile. Her eyes were shiny with tears.

I told the man on the other side of the phone that I'll call him back later and stared at the woman. "C-cali?" I couldn't believe this. I've been searching all around the world for her and here she was, standing right in front me.

I was speechless. Shocked. Then I was was happy, overjoyed. She was here. She was finally here.

There were so many things I wanted to tell her. Like how much I missed her. But I just stood there, looking into her eyes. A smile broke onto my face. It was the first time in years since I smiled sincerely.

Cali looked different. She had short hair and it was curled. She had a little bit of makeup on, something she didn't do before. She once told me that she hated people who had tons of makeup caked on their face. She said they looked so fake.

I didn't hold onto myself for any longer. I stepped toward her and pulled her into a tight hug. "Do you know how much I missed you?" I murmured.

She didn't answer and snuggled into my shoulder. It felt so nice to have her in my arms again.

We stayed there for a couple more minutes before we separated. I opened my mouth to speak when my phone started to ring.

Brurrringgg! Brurrringgg!! Brrurrring! I looked on my screen and saw that the caller was my mother.

"What do you want?" My relationship with both of my parents have never been good and after Cali's disappearance, it became worse. I ignored their calls and rarely spoke with them unless it was necessary.

"Christian honey, it's been so long already. Can't you forgive your mother already?"

"Why did you call me?" I asked, ignoring her question.

we finally found the perpetrator of your car accident 3 years ago," my mother revealed.

"Didn't you say that it was an accident?" I asked in confusion.

"Come home right away. Your father and I will tell you all about it then," she said.

I hung up and looked over at Cali, who was watching intently.

"Is something wrong?"

"There's something I need to take care of at my parent's place," I said with a sigh.

She nodded in understanding and gestured for me to go.

"Why don't you come along?" I suggested. "I need

"I have a job interview upstairs," she pointed at the elevators.

"That's easy. I can tell them to give you the job." I started to lead her outside but she stopped.

"Don't you dare. I need to get this job with my own hard work. I didn't spend 3 years in college just so you can help me through the backdoor."

"College?" Was that what she had been doing these past 3 years? At school?

Cali nodded proudly. "I got accepted into a college and graduated with a bachelor's degree."

"Wow someone was working hard," I grinned.

"Yes, I was so don't do anything and let me go to that interview."

"Fine, but you're still going to see my parents. I'll text you the address and I'm expecting you to go there after your interview."

"Okay," she agreed.

We exchanged phone numbers and went our separate ways.

Knock knock. Knock knock. I stood outside the double doors of the study and waited for permission to enter.

"Come in."

I turned the handle and pushed open the door. Both of my parents were sitting inside, with a serious expression on their face. I've never seen them look so serious before.

"Mother, what's this all about a hit and run?" I asked, taking a seat across from them. "Wasn't my car accident an accident?"

"We kept it a secret from you because we didn't want to worry you," my mother said apologetically.

"Well then what have you found out?"

"Your father and I had someone investigate it ever since you got hurt and we finally found the person who did it."

"Who?"

My father spoke up. "Have you ever heard of an employee named Aaron Evans at the company?"

Aaron? Wasn't that the bastard who was friends with Cali? The one she stayed with when we fought? "I've met him a couple times before, but we're not really close. He said he was newly hired. What about him?"

"Son," he started to say. "That man was the one behind your accident."

"Are you serious?!?" I exclaimed. Aaron was all smiles, he did not seem like someone who would do such a thing. "Why would he do that to me?"

"I've been told that during his suspect interrogation, he kept repeating the same 3 words."

I waited for my father to continue.

"Cali. Is. Mine."

"Where is he now?" I asked nervously. If he knew that Cali was back, she would be in danger.

"The police found sufficient amount of evidence and arrested Mr. Evans a few days ago. He's been charged for the hit and run."

"Does he have some kind of issue up here?" I pointed at my head.

"Mr. Evans was sent into a mental hospital before, but he was discharged soon after when his behavior showed no signs of mental problems. He was an orphan- his parents and younger sister were murdered right in front of his eyes. The doctors said that that incident affected his mentality. They came to the conclusion that he had feelings for Ms. Wilson and didn't like the two of you being together."

"Mr. and Mrs. Wright, someone is here to see you."

"Send that person in."

A couple minutes later, the door opened and Cali came walking in.

"Isn't that.. isn't that... " my mother stuttered in surprise.

"Ms. Wilson," my father grunted. "We haven't seen you in a while."

"Mr. and Mrs. Wright," Cali greeted with a small smile.

"What is she doing here?" my mother asked angrily.

I went over to Cali and held onto her hand before walking her over to my parents. "She's my girlfriend. Is there something wrong with my girlfriend coming to see her boyfriend's parents?" I lightly squeezed her hand.

My mother scoffed. "Girlfriend?"

"Did you forget why she left? It was because of you!!!" I reminded her.

She crossed her arms over her chest and frowned. "She took my money. What does that show you, honey?"

It was silent in the room.

"It shows that this woman was by your side to get your money, that's what."

I was about to say something when Cali stopped me. "I have something to give to you." I watched as Cali reached into her bag and took a piece of paper out. I was not sure what it was, but it looked kinda like a cheque. "This is what you gave to me 3 years ago at the hospital." She threw the cheque at my mother's shocked face and continued to speak. "I didn't use a single cent of it."

"How-how dare you!!!" my mother screamed furiously. "You-you!!!!" She raised her hand up and aimed it at Cali's cheek.

What happened next was totally unexpected. Cali stopped my mother's hand midway and glared at her. "Don't even think about slapping me again. I'm not the same person I was the last time you saw me."

My father cleared his throat. "That's enough."

"Michael! Did you see what this witch just did??!!?" my mother complained.

"You shouldn't have thought about slapping Ms. Wilson in the first place, Susan. You fell into a hole you dug for yourself."

"Father. Will you approve of my relationship with Cali already?" I asked.

"Mr. Wright, please give us your permission. I have a bachelor's degree in business management now. I just went to a job interview. I'm not the same as before anymore."

Instead of denying it right away, my father was quiet, deep in thought.

"Why aren't you denying it Michael?!?"

"Did you not see how depressed our son was when Ms. Wilson was gone?" he asked her. "We're not getting any younger. Our son needs to marry soon and start a family of his own. Now that he's found his other half, are you really going to split them up again? Are you okay with letting your own son lose someone he loves?"

"But-but.."

After a few more inputs of persuasion by Cali and I, both of my parents finally approved of our relationship at last.

We smiled at each other happily and I pulled her closer to me.
