《Loveless Marriage》Chapter 22

Do you remember the time that you knew that someone would never do a certain thing, but only to be proven wrong to see them doing the exact thing? Well, that was what Daniel and I were seeing.
Brother, or Dylan, had an apron wrapped around his torso and his headphones on his head. He was moving around the kitchen, cooking up a storm, while shaking his hips to whatever song he was listening to. My mouth fell open, my brain refusing to take in such information in such a short time.
A chuckle sounded from beside me, causing my gaze to land on Daniel who seemed to be trying very hard to hold in his laughter. However, his efforts were in vain because he started to burst out in laughter. Honestly, I did not know what to focus on. Whether on Daniel's gorgeous laughter or on Brother's weird behavior.
I slightly smacked Daniel on the shoulder to try my best to shush him. Which had evidently not worked as he continued to laugh. Soon Brother heard Daniel's loud laughter and turned around hastily. His cheeks filled crimson as he rushed, trying to remove his apron and his headphones. " Oh, umm, Hello. I thought that you would arrive home a little later?" Brother's voice sounding small.
" Well, we thought that since no one seemed to walk around the house, we could just relax in our, umm, room after work..." I paused, correcting myself in my mind. Daniel insisted that I sleep with him in his room, but I declined his offer the past three days. I did not know why I did that, but it just seemed necessary. Brother scratched his head and looked around, trying to think of an excuse for cooking in the kitchen.
" I, err, I wanted to cook dinner for the three of us. I know this is gesture from me is really weird but I just wanted to let you know that I care. Mother and Father left for dinner outside. So did Daniel's parents." Brother looked between the both of us, trying to get some reaction from us. Daniel still had not stopped laughing, turning Brother's cheeks a deeper shade of red. I smacked Daniel once again, my hand landing pretty roughly on his arm.
" Oh stop laughing. It is not that funny," I scolded Daniel, which caused him to decrease his laughter a bit. " So you do admit that your uptight brother cooking is hilarious?" Daniel wheezed slightly. At this point, I really could not hold in my laughter either. A giggle left my mouth and I started to laugh as well, joining Daniel. " Stop it, both of you. If not, I swear I will never cook for you again." Brother warned, crossing his arms.

Making me only laugh harder, imagining him dancing around the kitchen, cooking and, shaking his hips to Shakira. As I paused to breathe, I saw both Daniel and Brother looking at me with a smile on their faces. " What?" I asked, holding my chest and taking in deep breaths. " Nothing, it is just that I have never seen you laugh like this." Brother replied, which caused me to freeze. It was true. Brother has not seen me laughing like this ever, neither had Daniel.
" Can we eat now? I am starving," I stated, moving away from the topic not wanting to ruin the mood. Dinner was amazing. Brother had prepared a scrumptious dinner to which I had full access unlike other times and my stomach was filled. Daniel and Brother talked about work sometimes, the economy and other things. We joked around, laughing Brother's hilarious dance while cooking.
After dinner, all of us did the dishes and retired back to our rooms. Daniel and I stepped into our room as Brother disappeared into his room. " Well, wasn't that interesting? I could have sworn your brother would have never cooked. And to see him loosen up from his uptight self, that was a shock," Daniel stated, walking to his closet to get some clothes. " I did not know either. He really gave me a big shock," I replied, walking towards the door. " And where do you think you are going?" Daniel asked, hurrying towards me and placing a soft grip on my arm.
Before I could even reply, " Oh no you don't. you are going to change into my clothes and you're going to sleep with me. You do not get to enter that room anymore. I'm getting someone to arrange all your clothes in my closet. We are no longer having separate bedrooms and i don't want to have it any other way." Daniel demanded so cutely. My eyes had widened as a smile threatened to appear. I shook my head and cleared my throat.
" You know, all you had to do was ask me and I would have moved. You didn't have to give that huge speech just to get me to move into your bedroom. Are you sure though?" I asked, just to confirm that he was not kidding. He nodded his head fast. " Well, ok then. Let me just take a shower and get my clothes for the night," I informed him and turned to open the door, only to have him pull me away from the door. " Nope. I told you, you are going to change into my clothes. And now you are going to sit down on the bed and wait for me to finish showering and then you are going to shower." He instructed.

" And for you safety, I'm locking this door and swallowing the key," He gestured to lock the door with an invisible key and dropped it into his mouth. He picked up his clothes and 'stomped' into the bathroom and shot me a wink before closing the door. I laughed silently as I pulled out my phone from my pocket. I had received a message from Joseph saying 'CALL ME!'. I walked to the balcony Daniel's room and and called him immediately. Joseph picked up two rings later.
" Hannah, you would never believe it! So you know that I left work early so that I can buy some groceries and make dinner for my mom, right? I was just casually picking up the items I needed when this random man bumped into me. Everything I was holding fell onto the floor and some of them broke. Urghhhh, and you would never believe what he did. He looked at me like I was some low life scum and pulled out some dollar bills and threw it at me! How can someone be so irritating?" Joseph's frustrated voice was pretty loud on my side.
" But do you know what I did? I picked up a tomato, threw it at his back and ran for my life. If he was going to just throw money around, he can pay for everything that he broke." Joseph huffed, before taking in a long breath. " He really does sound like a jerk. Did you manage to get the items you needed and make dinner for your mom?" I asked, holding the railing and looking at the dark clouds that seemed to move the way the wind was blowing.
" Yeah I did. I'm just so mad. Like how is it possible for a man to look so beautiful, hot and sexy but to be such a jerk?" Joseph pondered angrily. I gasped lightly. I had a feeling that Joseph might be into men but I had never really heard him say it. " Joseph... Are you attracted to men?" I whispered into my phone, even though there was nobody near me. " I guess, I think so. Yes..." He dragged, as a smile immediately formed onto my face.
" I knew it, I knew it. Why did you not tell me before?" I asked, punching the air in happiness. " I just didn't, I guess. You are not mad at me right?" He asked, his voice as small as a mouse. " No, I am not angry. I am just really happy that you finally told me." I informed and heard him release a puff of air. Joseph ranted on and on about the 'hot' man, talking about his 'perfect eyebrows and perfect eyes and perfect nose and perfect lips and perfect jawline'. I had no clue how he managed to have the detailed view of the man's face.
Luckily, I heard the door of the bathroom being opened and ended the call with Joseph after wishing him good night. I walked back into Daniel's room and saw him only with yet another pair of sweatpants and digging into his closet for something. " Do you never get cold?" I asked, placing my phone on the bed. Daniel shook his head and handed me a hoodie and a pair of sweatpants with it. " I won't be cold tonight. I will be cuddling up against you, wouldn't I? His lips tipped up as my cheeks turned crimson for the evening. " I will go and shower..." I walked fast into the bathroom and locked the door.
I rolled my eyes to myself and and quickly hopped into the shower. As the water ran down my body, I thought back to when Daniel laughed in front of me earlier. It was the first time I had seen him like that and I took the time in the shower to cherish the beautiful memory. By the end of my shower, I smelt like Daniel which I did not mind. After half towel-drying my hair, I wore the clothes given by Daniel. I had not expected the sweatshirt to be huge. I grunted softly as I tried my best to tighten the knot of the sweatpants, but they refused to stay up.
It just had to be cliche. I thought to myself, as the pants dropped for the umpteenth time. " Fine, I will just not wear them..." I whisper-shouted to myself and folded them neatly. The sweatshirt reached my knees so it hid everything that needed to be hid. Especially the scars. Not letting my mind wander. I dropped my dirty clothes into the laundry basket and opened the door, holding his folded sweatpants. It is what it is. Urghhhh...
