《Last Chance✔ (Completed)》Chapter Thirty-One

Pierson's POV

I look at my phone for the hundredth time in the past hour.

When I see that there's still no reply I can't help but get a little worried.

I've texted Elena a few times and it's uncommon of her not reply in the hour within it being sent.

I look at my watch resting on my left wrist and scrunch my face together when I see that it has been triple the amount of time it usually takes her to reply.

I wish she would just send me a quick text. I know she may be busy working, but I can't help the unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Something has been feeling off all day.

I need to cut things shorter than usual. "Ok, let's call it a day," I call.

At once the sparring stops and my men in their tired and sweaty state move their eyes to my position.

We've been training for a few hours now, so I know they are grateful for the early departure.

I check my phone again and start to move towards the direction of the house. Before I get too far I see jake huddled by a tree looking at his phone the same way I was just a few seconds prior.

"Jake," I call to get his attention.

He looks up and when he sees that it's me he places his phone in his pocket and walks towards me.

He looks worried too. "What's up with you man?" I ask when he is directly in front of me.

He let's out a deep breath. "I've been trying to get a hold of Rachel because my mom said she never showed up to pick up Peyton from her house. I'm sure she just forgot and fell asleep or something, but it's just not like her to just forget her like that," he says.

He runs his hands frustratingly through his thick curly locks.

"I know what you mean. Elena hasn't returned my texts all day. I'm about to head to the clinic to see if she's there. Let me know if you find Rachel."

He nods his head at me with a grim smile and he walks back to his spot at the tree with his eyes glued to his phone once again.

When I arrive at the clinic Elena is nowhere in sight. I look around and as I pass the small lounge I hear small giggles from inside.

Elena? I back up and peek my head inside. I'm let down when I see Victoria practically hanging off Noah laughing at something corny he probably has said.

I clear my throat and when they catch a glimpse of me their eyes widen and Victoria puts some much needed space between the two of them.

Noah's face turns a beet red before he clears his throat awkwardly.

"Can I help you Pierson?" He asks.

"I was just wondering if Elena is around here somewhere? I can't seem to get a hold of her," I reply.

His face twists as if something confusing has come to mind.

"You know what? She didn't even come in today. I didn't get a phone call or text that she wasn't. She's usually pretty good about communicating with me when she's not going to be here, but I hadn't heard nothing," he explains.

The unsettling feeling becomes more intense at his words.

"Jake hasn't heard from Rachel either all day. I have a feeling something is not right here," I voice my concerning thoughts.

Victoria's face pales and she swallows hard. I can see in her eyes she's thinking what I'm thinking.

I run out of the room and up to where mine and Elena's room is located. I check mine first, finding her not there, before harshly pushing the door to hers open.

I switch on the lights and look everywhere.

She is nowhere in sight.

As I'm about to leave I catch a small glimpse of her scent mixed with some other familar ones.

I close my eyes and take a bigger whiff trying hard to concentrate on the distinct smells.

As the scents come to mind my eyes shoot open and my fist goes flying through the door. I don't even have to second guess why these people would be in Elena's room.

I knew it. I knew I couldn't trust that bąstard.

I fall to the ground and pull at my hair. How could I have let this happen? My chest feels with fear and sheer pain.

He took her.

I can't help but think of all the awful scenarios that could be happening to the love of my life right now.

I push my forhead into the wood. My fists ball at my side and I hit the ground repeatedly. Angry tears start to roll down my face and I clench my eyes and teeth to try and stop them.

I can't do this now. She needs me. She needs me more than ever. Now is not the time to be weak.

I gather all the will power I have and stand tall and push the pain and regret aside. With a straight back and head I make my way to my army to prepare them for what we've been waiting for.

I'm gonna get my girl.

Elena's Pov

A light flashes behind my closed eye lids. I want to open them, but they feel too heavy and I don't think I have it in me to do so.

Small sniffles sound from around me and I move my face to the side, laying my right cheek on the cold concrete floor before finally forcing my tired eyes open.

I blink a few times trying to remove the blurriness from my vision.

I concentrate on the figure in front of me. Her blonde her rests around her face like a curtain and shields her features from view.

"Rachel," I let out groggily.

At once her face appears and snaps up to meet my own.

She hurriedly scoots to me and tries to raise me up into a sitting postiton.

I feel so weak.

"It took awhile for it to wear off me. You should be fine soon," she whispers softly.

I nod my head and take the chance to look around me. It looks like we're in a small basement. Nothing is placed in this room, but one single light bulb that hangs from the ceiling above giving off a soft glow. It must of been what I saw flickering earlier.

I look towards the stairs placed in the room that most likely lead up to the main house and see the two burly men from earlier guarding it. Their faces are stone cold and their bodies are rigid. It makes them look tough and definitely like someone you don't want to mess with.

Their presence disgusts me. They were betraying our pack the whole time.

As if on cue, of my sudden awareness of what's around me, the door clicks open and in walks the devil that is my father.

"Ah, you're finally awake pumpkin. I've been waiting for awhile now," he says cheerily.

My throat feels with acid at his words.

He glances at Rachel and his eyes harden.

"I'm glad you are too. I think you have something that I need," he sneers.

One of the men move to grab her and Rachel let's out a loud scream. My father moves in and reaches for the back of his pants.

He brings his hand forward and when the silver blade comes into view I start to panic. By instinct I move to swipe it away, but before I can even get two feet in the other man wraps his tree stump arms around me and pushes me against his chest.

My father moves the knife towards Rachel and all the blood drains from her face.

He grabs her tightly and with the help of his buddy he slowly pushes the knife into the side of her stomach above her hip.

He moves the knife around in there and Rachel screams out in excruciating pain.

"Stop. You're hurting her," I yell.

I do everything that I can to try and break out of the hold he has me in, but it's no use. He's not even phased by my thrashing movements.

My father smiles and he soon stops the moving of the knife. He then pushes it out at a an angleand reaches for a small piece that has appeared out of her.

He holds it up and examines the small grey device proudly. "I knew you would still have this implanted. I also knew you would deny having it, so I decided to just go ahead and make sure for myself," he chuckles.

It's the chip to find her location from all those years ago. She never got it removed. I can see the hope in Rachel's eyes die as he puts it into his pocket.

"I have some good intentions with this." He grins mischievously.

The man throws Rachel away and I am released as well.

"Elena, help your friend out," he laughs.

My father and his men move to the door to depart.

I quickly rush over to Rachel. I examine the wound. It doesn't look like it cut into any major organs, but it definitely needs stitches to help her heal faster. A small substance in the cut catches my eye. I look closer and touch it. It makes my skin tingle.

What is that?

"It's a powder they created. It makes us weak and doesn't allow our bodies to heal properly. That's what he's been using on Kris. They inject it into his body and it has the capability to form white blood cells at a rapid rate. That's why everybody believes it's cancer. It's lethal," she breaths harshly.

I feel the bile bubble up once again and I do everything I can to swallow it back down.

I fix my eyes back on her gash.

I have to clean it out properly. Right now the blood is flowing at a slow rate, but soon enough the effect of the constant flow will show it's signs on her. I quickly pull off my cardigan and use it to put pressure on it.

"Hold this here. I need to find something to rid the poison and stitch it up," I say.

I look around in a panic hoping for something magical to appear. There is nothing around us. It's impossible.

I go and slam on the door hoping someone will answer me. With no such result I go and sit back next to Rachel. My eyes continue to roam the vicinity.

She places her hand on my shoulder and calls out to me to look at her.

"Elena I'm fine. It'll all be okay. It's not that bad," she says as soft as she can through gritted teeth.

I can't not do anything. It's not what what I do. I help people. If she loses too much blood she can go into hypovolemic shock.

I feel so helpless looking at her pale face.

"Please stay with me Rachel," I say with a cracked voice. She has too many people waiting for her to come back home. She has Peyton. She needs her mom.

She gives me a half smile. "Of course, I don't give up that easily," she says with a soft laugh.

Her face scrunches up as the words leave her mouth.

"I'm sorry for everything. I never wanted this to happen," she says after a moment of silence.

"I wish I would've done things differently. Now, everybody is in danger because of me," she weeps.

"Shhh. It's not the time to think like that. We can both make things right. It's not over yet. You and I are both still here and we're gonna get out of here one way or another, so don't waste you're strength. You're gonna need it," I say determinedly.
