《Being a Villainess is No Joke》8. Someone from the Previous Life

Adailia's POV

I slouched down and ran my hand through my hair. I saw him. I'm sure.

I can't exactly put a finger as to who he was but I'm pretty sure he was someone from my previous life.

Maybe I passed him somewhere on the street or he was in some cafe, but I'm sure I've seen him somewhere back when I was in Seoul.

I sighed and got up, dusting my dress, when I heard footsteps approaching me. I saw a knight making his way towards me.

"Lady Adailia, Mrs Shamal is at the mansion waiting for the lady, to take her measurements for the upcoming ceremony." The knight said.

"What ceremony?" I blurted out.

"The Welcoming ceremony this Saturday for all the Academy students." The knight said.

Ahh-That ceremony!!! It's the first time Prince would notice Seanna. Even though Seanna was Adailia's companion, she never met Prince cause Adailia never let any girl get near the prince.

This was a special ball for all the academy's students to gather after the long holidays. This year's ball would be more special because the Prince would be attending it.

But wait.......DOES THAT MEAN THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER???????????

Shit! I wasted all my time reading romance books. Not that I regret it.

I nodded and followed the knight to my carriage.

After we were inside the mansion I was rushed to my room by the maids. A woman in her 40's was standing there. As soon as she saw me, she bowed down, "Good afternoon, lady Adailia." I nodded in response. Adailia doesn't wish. Rude, but can't help it.

"If you would allow me to take your measurements...." She said and I nodded again.

She motioned two ladies in the corner and they started taking my measurements.

Mrs Shamal was one of the most famous designers in Obelia and expensive too.

After taking the measurements she motioned another lady who fetched the catalogue and handed it to me.

"Lady Adailia, which colour would you prefer?"She asked, showing me more of less pink colours.

Ugh- why pink?

"Magenta, crimson, rose, cream, cerise, taffy, rosewood, flamingo, fascia, rouge, crepe, wild berry, punch, bri-"

"Stop." I said, My God! I Never knew there were so many different 'pinks' and each had a name!

"What's wrong, Lady Adailia?" Mrs Shamal asked me.

"No pink." I said.

She looked as if someone just hit her with a brick.

"Lady Adailia.... Are you sure?" She asked cautiously.

"Yes." I am not gonna wear a pink dress.

"Then which colour would you prefer?"

"Umm... Blue?" I suggested.

The lady brought another catalogue. This time Mrs Shamal had the courtesy to ask me before spouting out different shades.

"Which shade do you prefer, Lady Adailia?"

"Uh- dark blue?", I know nothing about colours, I wonder how I was born a girl in my last and well as this life.

She raised a brow and then asked, "Lady Adailia, could you be a bit more specific. Like, Midnight, Oxford, cobalt, sapphire, Persian, ultramarine, as-"

"Mrs Shamal, I'll leave that to you. I believe Mrs Shamal would know which colour would suit me better than anyone else, even myself." I cut her off smoothly.

Mrs Shamal looked taken aback (by what I assume, my compliment) she later nodded and then opened her mouth (which I by now preferred shut) to ask, "Then the dress design.... I have a few new rough illustrations of the fancy dresses which would suit Lady Adailia. Should I present them?"

Ugh- I just wanna get this over with.

"I'll leave that to you as well." I said, " Mrs Shamal's an excellent designer who would know, better than anyone else what would suit a beauty such as myself, the best." I would have never been able to talk like this if I haven't read this type of books in my previous life.

Everyone looked taken aback. Guess Adailia was super picky when it came to dresses. Well, she was super picky about everything.

".......Then I'll take my leave." Mrs Shamal said, bowing and I gave her a quick nod.

But before she could leave I quickly added, "Mrs Shamal, I do not wish to wear anything revealing for this ball."

She once again looked shocked but nodded anyway.

Everyone looked shocked, making me think I said something weird but I knew I didn't.

After everyone left and I was alone in my room, I realized something.

I would have forgotten about the ball if the knight hadn't reminded me. Besides, the man I saw outside the library was still a mystery. But anyways, I decided to make sure that I remembered every detail in the novel, till the part I read, so I don't forget anything again.

I took some paper, ink and quill and started jotting down all the details I could remember about the novel. (I was actually more interested in using the quill cause I felt like I was doing some harry potter stuff)

The ball scene was important because the second Traashid saw Seanna, he felt something. And when Adailia and some other nobles started harassing Seanna, Traashid stood up for her out of pity.

After that, the Academy started and Traashid still kept on looking out for Seanna and protected her whenever required. This made Adailia very mad and she started to torturing Seanna at the mansion.

After the first week of the academy passed peacefully (well not exactly peacefully), the stupid ass principal of the Academy thought it was a good idea to leave a bunch of teenagers (girls as well) in the wild with some hungry animals on loose.

The competition was supposed to be an event to test your skills for surviving or something like that. In this competition, a knight was supposed to be paired with a mage. The Academy was divided into two factions, the knights- who didn't have any magic or very little magic but were physically strong.

And the mages- who had enough magical mana to perform harry potter stuff. Both of these groups had different lessons and classes and did not interact with each other very much. That is why once in every few years the students who were in their final year had to participate in this life threatening competition.

Usually all the girls in the academy we're mages but a few high nobles including Adailia were in the knight faction because they didn't have any magic in particular( and Prince was in the knight faction as well ). So she got to attend same classes as he did. However, she sucked at everything.

Seanna was a mage with healing powers. Every mage had only one type of power. Seanna was lucky that knights and mages had different classes so she rarely met with Adailia in the Academy.

Anyway, so basically the pair of a knight and mage would solve some riddles or do some challenges to get to the magical ball (which was the prize of the winner and also the thing they had to find in the forest). When Traashid was very close to finding it, he was attacked by a vicious green monster. Its description was pretty monstrous but when I was reading it, for some reason, I kept on imagining it as a big toad and I thought my imagination was funny and let it be.

So basically Traashid fights the big scary toad and takes the prize.

Few chapters after this was solely dedicated to cute interactions between Traashid and Seanna while Adailia was busy bullying other people or shopping for new dresses or coming up with new ways to torture people or blow up houses or whatever.

This was just relationship development between the main characters and nothing else.

There were a lot of people involved in the slavery system, and in this novel, it was child slavery. Slavery system was banned by the laws of Obelia but that didn't stop it. They abducted commoner children from the Obelia empire and sold them in adjoining neighbour empire, Peruka, where it was allowed.

Obelia empire was described as a huge empire where the commoner population was twice as big as the noble population.

So it was easy to abduct children from various corners of the empire. However, the capital city, where the Prince and other nobles resided, the security was super tight and nobody dared to try anything there. So soon the children in the capital city increased in number (since there was no law restricting the number of children in commoners).

Well, so the head of the slavery system came up with an awesome plan and attacked the orphanage. Sadly the prince figured out his plan and prevented them from fleeing from the empire. All of the members involved in the plan were caught.

However, the head was in Peruka empire so he was safe. After that incident, no abduction could be seen.

And that's it.

This is till where I have read the novel. I remember the weird ending but the other story is in fragments.

I racked my brain till it hurt but I could not remember much, except a thing that midway of the book an important character will be introduced. I noted that as well.
