"She was shot twice at closed range." Henri's eye twitched and he clenched his jaw to control Adil.

"We've found only one exit hole on her back. Unfortunately, they've hit some major organs including her spine. The chances for her to walk again is...."

The doctor's words trailed off and Henri stood there listening to him numb to the world. The words were echoing, rattling in his brain but he unable to compute them.

He didn't just find his mate just to lose her! He and his family never understood why he felt compelled to stay in NY these past couple of years. But now he knew it was because she was here. It took them years to find each other, and now this scrawny little man in front of him is going the long way around, giving him all kind of excuses to save his ass because he thinks she wasn't going to make it?

"She is fighting hard and as long as she is willing to hold on we are going to do everything we can for her but..."

"Forgive me doctor for saying, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING OUT HERE INSTEAD OF IN THERE SAVING Her? You've only been in there for a short amount of times!"

The doctor flinched but quickly gained his composure back and look at Henri straight in his eyes. Which gained him some respect. Some of the biggest dudes would already bow to him by now.

" I am not the main surgeon and I was sent out to let you all know what was going on. Besides everything else, she has lost a lot of blood, too much... And... Um..."

"Spit it out doctor, I have run out of patience."

"The hospital have run out of her blood type."

"EXCUSE ME?"

This got to be a joke! Adil was scratching at the surface begging to come out and tear everything apart, danm the consequences. Henri was barely holding on, but this was not helping.

"She has got a really rare blood type. We don't get lots of donors with it and..."

"WHAT IS IT?"

"AB..."

Luc who was standing there the whole time, his head snapped up and looked at Henri with bulging eyes.

"Brother what are you going to do?"

"What do you think?" Henri answered with a warning growl not to interfere.

Luc ignored it and continued. "Are you thinking straight? You cannot! It is against our laws and she is not even aware of anything." he whispered yell.

Doc: Gentlemen?... Sir? Are you saying you have the same blood type as her? The doctor asked with hopeful eyes.

"Yes, show me where to go. I don't care. Just cut me open. Take a bucket. TAKE TEN BUCKETS! Just bleed me dry and give it all to her but for GODDESS SAKES let's just move and go save my mate!"

"Y-yyes sir... Just follow me please."

Luc started trailing behind them in deep thoughts about what to say to Henri right now without setting him off. It was a very delicate situation and he could practically see his lion moving under his skin ready to jump out at any moments notice.

But it is a punishable by death offense to voluntarily give a human their blood. And if such a thing were to happen, it would need to be brought in front of their council for the case to be pleaded. But it was all a farce because it would never be approved, so it hadn't happened in centuries. They've never found a reasonable reason to let humans into their world.

Henri have not yet taken the official oath in front of everyone to take his rightful place on the throne, so changing a human into a shifter can be what they were looking for to start campaigning against the royal family so they can put their own people in power.

"Just say what you got to say Luc, I can hear your thoughts from here."

They were now in a room and the nurses were prepping Henri to donate his blood.

"You know what will happen if you go through with this."

"Yes"

"And you are willing to take that chance?"

"I can't lose her Luc... You don't understand... I can feel her pain Luc and I can feel her slipping away.

He's never seen his brother looking so lost and dejected. Almost like he was also dying with her... And maybe that was happening. After all they didn't know much about the effects and powers of the mate bond.

"What do you need me to do?"

Henri looked up at him with appreciative eyes.

"I need you to call home and let them know. And when those old pussies think of opening their mouths to object, educate them about who I am, who she is to me and what I'm willing to do for her. I will rip every single one of their hearts if they think to oppose me. "

He spoke them quietly but everyone in the room felt the power behind each words, because after he spoke, that was when Luc realized the staff in the room had stopped whatever they were doing to just intensely listen to Henri speak.

He's always had that effect, even when he didn't mean too, even when they were children.

It was his job as the second in command to remind his King, his brother of the potential consequences of his actions. But now that he has made his decisions, he was ready to help rip out the spines of these old coots right along side of him.

He hadn't met Natalia long, but she was already family and there wasn't much he wouldnt do for her.

"I got you brother. Just take care of Lia."

"I know you do."

"What about Lia when she wakes up and she is... You know... Changed? He whispered just enough for Henri to hear."

"We'll cross this bridge when we get to it, for now I just want to focus on saving her."

"She is going to bite your nuts off!" Luc exclaimed with a small smile trying to calm his brother down a bit.

"I can't wait for her to" Henri answered with an amusing glint in his eyes. But then the sadness overpowered them again. "If she can't forgive me for what I'm doing, it will kill me, but at least I'll die happy knowing she is still alive."

"DANM... You've got it REALLY bad don't you?

She might not be able to resist it for too long though."

"What do you mean"

"Well.. The bond is stronger for you because of who you are. When she's become like us, she will also feel the bond's powers to its full intensity."

"True, but my girl is strong. I have no doubt that if she wants to fight it, she will be able to."

"And that's exactly why you've got nothing to worry about. Lia will be OK." Luc said patting his brother on his back. "I'm going to step out of the building and make those calls for you."

"Good.. Oh and Luc find out who is our best doctor from home and have Tony go pick them up."

"I don't think he will."

Henri raised his eyebrows not understanding. He gave an order and it has to be obeyed.

"Something happened to him Henri when he saw Lia. His protective instinct has kicked in and he hasn't move an inch away from the OR since he's got here. I don't think he's blinked actually." Luc replied passing his hand behind his neck.

"He has nothing to worry about. I don't blame him for what happened...

Fine leave him there but find the doctor, ask them what should we expect after she's gotten the transfusion."

"OK got it."

"What happened to him after I left with Natalia? You stopped me from killing him when you screamed she needed me. I didn't think I was going to be able to stop."

"But you broke both his arms out of their sockets and knocked him out. Tony and Max took him to a secure location before the police arrived. Whenever you are ready to deal with him, they will bring you to him."

"Just let him suffer there for awhile."
