《MC's Viking Warriors- Rogue #5》Katie

The cold from the cell makes my bones ache, I can't stop shivering. Even in Liam's lap I'm freezing, I can't get warm.

"It'll be alright." Liam murmurs into my hair for what has to be the hundredth time but it still calms me.

"Just close your eyes," he soothes, his arms still behind his back, "it'll be over faster."

I nod my head and silently close my eyes, following his advice and allow a fitful sleep to claim me.

Gunfire and shouts wake me. I holy awake and stare up at Liam in the darkness. He kisses my cheek and smiles.

"They're here."

The locked door crashes and falls in on itself making me flinch into Liam. A guard I recognise from the alley strides in, his eyes wild as he advances towards us.

When I notice the gun in his hand, I let out a strangled cry of fear. I brace myself for gunfire, for bullets, for the end but they don't come.

Instead, both Liam and I watch as a girl launches herself onto the guards shoulders, her thighs on either side of his neck.

She grins at us, baring her teeth before winking at Liam as the man struggles and flails beneath her.

With all her body weight behind the movement, she hurls the man to the floor, the knife is in his chest before I even realise she has a weapon.

"You alright big bro?" She teases, "you look a little tied up."

"Could you give us a hand." Liam demands at his sister but she just rolls her eyes at his tone.

"Get up then, idiot." Her eyes silently communicate with Liam and I feel like I'm intruding in on the situation even though that's ridiculous.

"Just slide off my lap for a minute, Katie girl." Liam asks softly and I instantly comply.

I watch with interest as Liam turns his back to Eira, he braces his shoulders and pulls his arms as far apart as the hand cuffs will allow.

With a savage scream, Eira stomps down on the cuffs as Liam braces himself from the force. He practically roars and I hear the chink of metal hitting the floor.

"Can you walk?" Liam asks, his eyes staring at my startled face.

I nod my head slowly but quickly stand and slip my hand into his. Eira smiles softly at me before reaching behind her, she pulls out a gun from her waistband and tosses it to Liam.

He catches it with ease and the pair advance from the room.

"All dead?" Liam asks as Eira somehow pulls another gun from her outfit.

"Bolt's having his fun." She replies, cackling a little manically as my brows furrow in confusion.

I cling tightly to Liam, not letting him go for a second as we silently creep through the warehouse.

After a few corridors and now unlocked doors, we arrive at the main hanger of the warehouse and we are instantly pounced.

Or rather Liam is instantly pounced on. Six men laugh as they slap Liam on the back, shouting and whooping.

The noise is more than I expected and I squint as I read the names on the backs of their jackets as they all greet Liam.

Bear. Mouse.Viper. Bolt. Shadow.

Liam turns back to me and grins, the man next to him has the same expression on his face. Bear, the largest man in the room, is clearly Liam's father and the president.

"Let's get you out of here." He booms, nodding his head at me as his son returns to my side.

Eira moves silently from behind us, startling me slightly. She looks me up and down before nodding, not unlike her father but with considerably less warmth.

"Don't worry," Liam whispers as soon as Eira is out of earshot, "her club name is Ice Queen, and lets just say it's not because of her name. She's cold with everyone.

Eira must have overheard because she flips Liam the bird as she swaggers out of the warehouse, everyone following close behind.

"Nice to meet you, Katie." Liam's father says as he walks beside me, he holds his hand out for me to shake.

"I'm Vidar."

"Nice to meet you," I mumble politely, letting my hand fall back down to my side.

Liam hisses as he rubs at his wrists, there is clear bruising around both of them. Vidar notices and his eyes narrow.

"Eira!" He calls out making her spin around on her heels, grinning sweetly at him.

"Yes, daddy."

"How did you get Liam's handcuffs off?"

Vidar demands, Eira pouts as she waits for us, I can tell she's playing them and I'm honestly impressed.

"It was an emergency, daddy."

"No it wasn't, we've talked about this before, you could brake someone's wrists."

"But we needed to get them off," Eira blinks innocently up at her father, her icy blonde hair falling out of the bun she had in.

"And there was nothing else to do."

"Eira, we literally bought bolt cutters with us."

"What?" Liam's head rears up and he glares at his sister, "you said that was the only way!"

"Oops." Eira giggles, "I must've forgotten."

She jumps up and kisses her father's cheek before she takes off like a whirlwind, throwing her thigh over a bike.

Liam gently guided me to a car, I didn't feel like I could speak yet. I was staring at these men, and Eira, everything about them was different to my father's club and I didn't understand.

"It's ok, Katie girl." Liam soothes as he pulled my head to rest on his shoulder, "you're still in shock, that's why you feel so overwhelmed but it will all get easier, I promise."

The man with viper on the back of her jacket slides into the driver's seat and his eyes dart back to look at us in the rear view mirror.

"Good to have you back, Liam." His voice fills the car as he turns on the engine.

"Nice to meet you, Katie. Nice to see someone's finally tamed him."
