"How are you feeling now, son?" The doctor asks kindly as I stare up at the ceiling, which has finally stopped spinning.

"Better." I nod, but my throat feels scratchy after having my stomach pumped.

Courtney roofied me, but she got the dosage, if you can even call it a dosage, wrong and she gave me an overdose. She could have really fucked up my kidneys but likely Adrian caught it in enough time.

"Can I go home now?" I question, desperate to get back to Katie so I can explain.

"I want to keep you in for another hour or two," the doctor begins, "then I'll do another blood test just to make sure the drug has left your system."

"Fine." I grit out before closing my eyes, I still have a splitting headache,

The doctor opens and then closes the door and I sigh at the peace, seconds later it opens again. I open one eye slowly and see Adrian sitting on the sofa opposite the bed.

"What do you want to do with Courtney?" Adrian began.

"Give her to the police, we have the evidence to convict her."

Adrian nods and types something on his phone.

"You know what this means don't you." I mumble, my throat still acidic and sore.

"No."

I practically roll my eyes at his slowness.

"Do you remember sleeping with Courtney?"

Adrian stiffens and he sits upright.

"Or do you remember getting black out drunk and just waking up next to her?"

"Shit!" He curses before he leaps up from the sofa and storms out of the room. I can already hear the phone dialling as he calls his ex wife.

Sighing, I let my thoughts wander to how Courtney had nearly succeeded in ruining my relationship, and then how she had succeeded in ruining Adrian's.

The two hours pass painfully slowly as I wait to be able to see Katie again, but soon my blood tests come back fine and I'm discharged.

Adrian drives me home in silence but periodically stops to call his wife again, she hasn't answered the calls yet and I know it's killing him.

We pull up in the compound and I quickly get out of the car, Adrian is already practically speeding away again, hoping that she's at home.

As for me, I'm running as much as my upset stomach will allow to get to my Katie.

Without stopping to knock, I burst through the front door, which by some miracle, isn't locked.

I take the stairs two at a time, pausing for a only a moment before I hurtle into Katie's room.

She's curled up in a ball on her bed, weeping and it breaks my heart.

"Katie."

She doesn't respond, she just continues to cry.

"Katie." I try again, louder and firmer than before.

This time she looks up and sees me, I initially she looks pleased to see me, but then she remembers what she thinks I've done.

"Get out Liam." She grits out, but it's not very convincing at all and I move to sit on the edge of her bed.

"I didn't sleep with her, Katie girl."

She scoffs and turns her back to me.

"I was drugged." My voice is strained with desperation. "Courtney drugged me, I didn't do anything. I swear."

Katie slowly turns to face me, still sniffling with sadness. I can tell by her eyes that she's trying to work out if I'm telling the truth or not.

"Really?" She mumbles, wiping her tears away with the palm of her hand.

"Really." I stand up again and nod my head before handing her my medical form which states that I had a drug overdose.

Katie's eyes scan the page and then her lip begins to wobble. Before I can reach out to comfort her, she launches herself into my arms and hides her face in my neck.

I cradle her close and soothe her as she sobs, wetting my neck with her tears.

"A-are you o-ok?" Every word is full of tears and hiccups and it just makes me love her more.

"I'm ok, Katie girl. Everything is ok now."

She pulls away from my neck to look up at me, searching for confirmation and as soon as I smile down at her, she disappears again.

"I- I thought you cheated on me." She wails and I sigh, sitting down on the bed with her in my lap.

"I know you did, that's what she wanted."

"I love you, Liam." She whimpers as I press a kiss to her head.

"I love you too, Katie girl. I would never ever hurt you."

We both stare at each other, and then at each other's lips. We both know what we want, we are both waiting for the other to make the first move.

Leaning down, I lovingly kiss Katie. My lips moulding against hers as she makes needy whimpers of relief.

When the front door slams shut, neither of us really notice, we are both too lost in the pull of the other.

Footsteps on the stairs don't bring me out of Katie's lips, I can't be separated from her again, I won't.

"Katie!" Her father roars and we both spring apart.

I stand as he shakes with rage in the doorway, Katie copies me but I make sure she's behind me. Her father is so angry, I don't care what he does to me, but I won't risk him hurting her.

"Step away from him, Katie." Her father orders, his fingers toying with the gun in his waistband.

"No." Katie just her chin out and despite my best efforts to stop her, she moves to stand in front of me, protecting me from any bullet with my name on it.

"Now!" Her father's voice booms making her shake and shrink back against me, I rest my hands on her waist.

I won't let him hurt her.

"I love him, dad." Katie begs, sobbing, "please don't hurt him."

"Get out of the way, Katherine, or I'll shoot you too."
